Hey Guys,
Just wondering whether Yiruma's " River Flows in You" is a happy or sad song? i.e more suited for a wedding or funeral? I have not had much luck finding out through Google.
Much appreciated, thanks!

Well ... does it sound happy or sad to you? This is actually one of my favourite songs that I've learnt to play on piano, personally I think it's more of a sad song, but the faster passages (more evident in the live version than the recorded) are also very hopeful. It builds, so you can't really pin it down as happy/sad because the tempo and mood changes constantly throughout the song.
For anyone who wants to listen to the song, this is a live version played by Yiruma and is a little different from the recorded version:

in my opinion, all the song titles describe the song itself quite well. for example, Kiss the Rain makes you feel like your kissing the rain? and River Flows makes a river flow in you? haha idk.

I don't think it's exactly a sad song.. Nor does it make you feel happy. It's more of a like.. tranquil song. Like soothing, you know? But it could work both ways. Happy or sad. It depends on how you interpret it and the situation.
^agreed. to me, personally, it sounds very uplifting. like there's something about who you are that's bigger than you would have thought possible. like an inner strength or something.

It's calming but I'd definitely say it's a happy song. If were to imagine hearing this song on TV, it would be a happy scene. By the way I had someone requesting wedding music from me and I included this as one of the tracks on a CD I made. She absolutely loved it and ended up using it in her wedding.

it's happy because there are more major chords than minor chords throughout
