During the 6/10 interview, Dir Lin said at 1st he tot Terri will be the nauseating princess kind of behavior (fatty2: its well known that Terri is from a wealthy family). he was very surprised & pleased when he finds her totally unprincess in behaviour, she's instead rather tomboyish. Jerry then said Terri is lively & adorable, very different from the image of her when she was in Taiwan attending various kinds of prestige functions.

Terri said Jerry is so different from what the media portrayed, she finds him easy-going. also, she finds him very hardworking & very focused during work. even when not his scenes, he will be present observing.

During the interview, when the lady host asked Dir Lin abt Jerry's huge talent fees of NT$600,000.00 (which is on par with top China actor such as Chen Dao Ming), Dir Lin said Jerry is worth every penny of it. that Jerry is a very hardworking & constantly learning & improving actor.

Jerry said for Stardust, he has learnt to relax & not put too much pressure on himself.

In the interview, Dir Lin mentioned that the filming has started for 1 month and there are 2 more months to go. Then 2 months after finished filming, it will be broadcasted. He also mentioned that he knows the off-camera Jerry very well, that Jerry is the no. 1 candidate for playing Cheng Yue in Stardust.

Yan cheng Xu's talent fee has improved 60 times

Since MG1, every time he filmed a drama, his talent fee has also improved. In 8 years, his talent fee has improved 60 times

Stardust, played by Yan Cheng Xu, etc.., had a press con in Shanghai the day before. Although the filming has not finished, because of Yan's high popularity overseas, the copyright sales amount has been over NT60 millions. In which, the copyright sold in Japan is even as high as NT$900,000 per episode. He is really the No. 1 idol drama actor. Even the producer, Mr. Liu Chong Dao, indicates, "Stardust's copyright sales have been over the investment amount."

Health shows red light

Yan Cheng Xu is really good in making money. Because of the filming of Hot Shot and Stardust in the first half of this year, he has attracted more than 100 millions of investment money, but at the same time, may be because of being too tired, his health shows the red light. He has very strong personality that he doesn't mind all the hardships. When filming Hot Shot, he had big and small injuries here and there. When filming Stardust, his diet has been very light due to toothache. He has lost over 3kg in one month. At the filming site, he said, "Years ago, I was very muscular. Now my waist is smaller than 30 inches." In order to manage his cellutilis, he needs to spend almost an hour for oral care each day now. In order to make sure that his face won't get swollen, he also needs to take pain relievers/antibotics continuously.

none. all are from TW, except one Chinese actor Ding Hao. According to his blog, he felt proud to be the only actor from Mainland China to be part of this series. Also, he attended CCTV's celebration party, because apparently, Stardust's copyright sales already broke CCTV's record, and that they have recovered their investment amt already.

because it's a production by CCTV China and Dentsu Advertising Japan, and a new TW production company.
no japanese actors, but the funds came from Japanese company.
and as what was said, Japan NHK channel and CCTV China will probably air this first than any other country.

there's a very long magazine article on Starlit posted at the chinese site. it mentioned that this project is a joint international cooperation between China CCTV Intl unit, Japan & Taiwan. the China side takes the lead as they are the biggest investor amongst the 3 parties. the Japanese investor requested that Jerry is to be the male lead. the China side is so far happy and satisfied as sales of copyright of Starlit is so much easier compared to China produced serial & that they are much envied by other production companies. at the moment, its targetted that Starlit will complete editing in 11/08 . whether it will be broadcasted 1st in China, Japan or Taiwan, is not known yet. publicity activities for Starlit will start soon after editing is complete. besides tv drama version, there's plan to have a 100 minutes plus tv movie version from the drama serial.

started with how a Japanese entertainment magazine (Hua Liu) featured Starlit in its articles, with Yan Cheng Xu on its front cover. & that this Japanese magazine is not the only one that has featured Starlit. this shows Starlit has been in the constant attention of the Japanese media.

then the article went on to Starlit presscon in Shanghai in 6/08 where the media was informed in detail how the international cooperation of CCTV, Japan & Taiwan for Starlit came about. from what's written, seems that CCTV has plans to venture out from domestic produced drama serial, so set up a unit called CCTV International. & Starlit will be its pioneer drama serial in international cooperation with other countries. CCTV is the biggest investor in this drama serial and they are very confident that Starlit will be very profitable. so far, they have found it much easier to market Starlit compared to China drama serial. Starlit will have 20 episodes.

it seems that when it comes to ancient drama, the production companies in China can get back their monies within the China domestic market . but the overseas sales are not so good. they faced the most problems in marketing of China's modern drama serial for the overseas market, so this has become a major & urgent problem for them. that's why CCTV is venturing into international cooperation to break into the overseas markets. but its not easy to produce a drama serial that will appeal to the tastes of different markets, as there is a difference in taste, lifestyles & culture amongst China, Taiwan & Japan. in the end, it was decided to use the theme of love to overcome the cultural barriers & appeal to all the different market segments. & instead of love ala Taiwan idol drama style which are more fantasy like, Starlit will instead have a more realistic theme on love & more to normal ordinary people's love rather than idol dramas romantic kind of love.

the Taiwan investor proposed that Taiwan be the settings of Starlit but the China party did not agree & in the end Starlit scenes was based mostly in Shanghai with some scenes in Taiwan.

Starlit quality will be high as its intended for the international market & also to meet the demands of the Japanese investors as they are very adamant on quality as they have invested in big amount of money.

for the Taiwan investor of Starlit, Taiwan market is too small, as such production budget for its drama serial are kept low as investors arent willing to put in lots of money. with CCTV as partner, they will find it much easier tap into the vast China market which is considered a goldmine. also , China is a source of capital for funding of projects. China domestic market is vast but at the moment they dont have the international market. as such, the Taiwan investor looks forward to a win-win situation for all the partners in Starlit with each getting mutual benefits.

Starlit is a very significant drama serial as its a combination of China's fundings & its vast domestic markets and Taiwan's creativity, production expertise & its star overseas market appeal. so a lot is riding on this drama serial.

well, it's not really musical.
jerry just play a pianist, and Alice a cellist.
i believe jerry will lose the ability to play the piano sometime in the series.

Yuan Lai Wo Bu Shuai? is that a series?
i just know alice acted as the female lead in Jay Chou's Wo Bu Pei (I'm Not Worthy) MV.

posted by kkla@JY thread..

Mainland China's CCTV had a booth at the Taipei Film and Drama Festival to sell their products. Although Starlit was invested by 3 different companies from Mainland China, Japan, and TW, CCTV had the biggest part, so the poster was found in its booth.

Regarding the delayed broadcast of Starlit, heard that it's because it is still in the process of getting the broadcast approval from the officials in Mainland China. Although Starlit will be broadcasted in different locations/countries, not just Mainland China, the 3 investers had an agreement not to broadcast Starlit anywhere until they have the approval from the Chinese officials. That's why, Starlit won't be broadcast in TW, Japan, or Mainland until next year.

Jerry Yan's Starlit to Broadcast Before Ruffian Hero to "Save" Zai Zai
Saturday November 29, 2008 Taiwan

ov. 29, 2008
Lian He Bao

Jerry Yan and Zai Zai, who are idol brothers, are for the first time going to be in the same channel together. It was reported that Zai Zai's Ruffian Hero (Black & White) was planned to be broadcasted during the Chinese New Year on PTS (Public Television Service), but as the project is unable to finish on time, so Jerry Yan's Starlit will be broadcasted at that time instead to "save the fire". Then Zai Za's drama will be broadcasted after Starlit. At the same time, it is reported that their names will be submitted for next year's Golden Bell Award Best Actor award.

It has been reported that there has been a a high degree of overseas copyright inquiry for both "Starlit" and "Ruffian Hero". The copyright sales of both dramas have reached about 1 million (about US$30,000) per episode. For now, Starlit will be broadcasted on CCTV in Mainland China, and the initial broadcast copyright in Taiwan was obtained by PTS. It is planned to start the initial broadcast by late January. PTS has decided to apply the nomination of Golden Bell's Best Actor Award for Jerry Yan Cheng Xu. After realizing PTS' plan, although he has never been nominated for Golden Bell Award, Yan Cheng Xu answered in low profile, "I try hard when filming every drama. I don't think about that (award) too much."
