Just curious about the age differences other soompiers have with their friends now that they are over 20.

Are the age differences between you and the people you're friends with been getting progressively wider? Or has it stayed relatively the same?

Do you gravitate towards an age group?

Are you the youngest, oldest, or somewhere in the middle in the groups you hang out with now?

Any other thoughts?

The majority of my very close friends are my age, but they're the ones I grew up with. Everyone else that I have befriended over the past few years are 5-6 yrs. younger than me. I gravitate towards a certain group of people as in interests and personality more so than age.

^ yep--same here. I was 45 in March-no one believes me (I guess this is good lol); most of my friends, male and female, are in their 20's. I think the youngest is 17--and there are also others older than me-- friends from school, and some 8 to 10 yrs older than me. I've always had both younger and older friends, but the gap was smaller because we were all in school, even if we were in different grades (difference was 2 to 3 yrs or so). I don't care about the gap--we're friends because we have similar likes and tastes...so no, I don't gravitate towards any specific age. (I'm the baby to some,, noona-type to the others.) Not one of them has ever said anything negative about my age...they were more suprised at first how much we had in common...they expected more differences.

My close friends are pretty much around the same age as I am. They are the few I still keep in contact with from high school. A friends I see once in a while is 5 years younger. My last birthday he tells me I'm so old.

Otherwise, age doesn't matter as long as we have some common intrest. A few others I hang around with are a few years younger than I am. However, I have not really met or hung out with anyone older than I am.

About from two years younger than me to about 2-3 years older.

I was a frosh leader at my school for a while so the age spread of the people I know is pretty huge.

A lot of my friends are 1-5 years my senior from networking with people my age .. and in addition to working now. Then there some that are from being a frosh leader for ... 4 years (and victory lap) so theres a bunch I know that are in their 19/20's.

I have 2 group of friends: the first they have around my age, the second they're all about 5 years younger, but we got a lot of common interests so that's why it naturally works.

The majority of my friends are my age give or take 2 or 3 years. My youngest friend (that I consider a really close friend) is 20, but all of my best friends are a year older than me.

Most are the same age as me or 1 to 2 years younger or older. I do have a few friends who are a lot older than me.

Most of them are my age ^^ maybe a couple of months apart, but that is about it.

All of my friends are at least 2-5 years older than me. It sucks cause I'm only 20 and can't really do much with them at night.

My closest friends are all generally around my age; two best friends have birthdays within 8 months to me; the rest of my close friends are about 1-3 years apart from me. I do have a few friends who I've made through work who are older than me by more than 5+ years.

as i'm getting older age is starting to become less important. right now it seems like once you're an adult, age doesn't make much difference in your behaviour anymore. most of my friends are around my age, 1-3 years older or younger. the oldest is 8 years older. back then most of my friends would be the same age or older, but now i can also befriend younger people than me

A handful of mine are 1-3 years older than me. I enjoy the company of my older friends, I fit in with them more.

My highschool, uni, family friends that are from my grade are all mostly 1 year older than me.

But I have friends from other groups that are up to 5 years younger than me or 3 years older. >_<

I don't mind though, because I get along with all of them fine.

I make friends with people of any age, my preffered friend is someone someone who shares similar interests to me rather than age dependant. I have a broad range of interests so I don't mind talking about anything really, for example my workmates are probably 15++ my seniors and I love talking with them. When teenagers come in to work or into my clubs I'll chat with them too, I tend to find older people more interesting though.

i really don't know, majority are around my age or 5+/- but i also have older friends from work and younger friends from back when i use to teach swimming and froshies from uni.

I have friends that are the same age, 2 yrs older, and 2 or 3 yrs younger.

All of my friends are my age or 1-2 years difference of me so basically I hang out with people in my age range.

one exception is my closest guy friend, whos almost 10 yrs older than me.....

I do not have a single friend who's born in the same year as me.
They're either all older by 2-3 or younger by 1-2 years.
I wonder if there will be something in common if I ever do find a friend that was born in the same year as me.

When I was in jr and high school my friends were always 2 or 3 years older than I was. Now, my friends are around my age but my ONLINE friends always end up being like 5 years younger than I am lol I guess I share some immature interests with them or something haha but i'm 27 so...5 years younger is still pretty old lol

im in the middle, some are +/- 4 to 5 years. I met younger ones in college and through hanging out with my own group. Some are my ex-co-workers. Most of them are people I met in junior high.

Most of mine are between the ranges of 2-3 years younger than me, to about 2 years older than me. I'm closer to the ones at the younger end of the age spectrum, though- we're not really conscious of age until my birthday rolls around, and then they go, 'oh, how old are you again?'- 'Eh, that old?'.

i have friends spanning from 3 years younger than me to 6-7 years older than me, lol. my closest friends are the same age as me though...

Most of my friends are around the same age as me, plus or minus a couple of years. As for co-workers I hang out with there is a wider age gap.

I just realised it.

My best friends that I've known from school are all around my age
but my other group of friends are from work and they're all over 30, some even 50 and up (which gets into my parents' range and that's just odd LOL)
A lot of my brother's friends are my friends and they are over 30 as well.

I don't have many friends younger than me, by younger I mean like still in high school younger, just strange to me.
Not saying I wouldn't, but it's not like I'd "hang" with them on the weekends ya know?
Especially since being with my friends definitely means drinking in some capacity...LOL

From my closest friends, I am the oldest. But we are all the same age. For the other friends majority are the same age, but mostly its -1/+3.

but i consider more like younger siblings rather than friends
i guess when you're the youngest in a family with no REAL younger siblings, having younger friends around makes it seem like i do have younger siblings

I am 22 years old. My best friend is 22 too and some of my close friends are at the same age or -1 years younger.

My classmates on the other hands, are like way younger. A range between 3/4/5 years younger. I feel like a grandma LOL

I am the youngest one out of all my friends they're all over 21 and I'm not (still 20). They're up there like 4-5years older than me I started hanging out with highschool kids when I was in junior high.

+/- 4 years....and the rest that are younger then me I just call them my kids LOL cause I've seen them in diapers and stuff haha...they're like childhood friends!

I have friends in age range from 10 years younger to 30 years older. The incredible thing is, I have very few friends my age. I wasn't able to keep up with friends I "grew up" with, because my family moved around too much (which also made it impossible to grow up with anyone, actually)... and now, come to think of it, there is no one my age in any of my social circles...<thinking> no one my age at the office, no one my age at church, no one my age around town.. hmmmm.... where did all the 30 year olds go?

I don't have many friends I have a significant age gap with. It just makes me feel weird to have a friend too much younger than me, I don't know why.

My youngest close friend is 19, and the oldest would probably be 28. I'm 23, so I guess +-4/5 years?
