Alright so yesterday I was talking to my aunt and then my cousin came in and said that he needed more deoderant. I looked at him like he was crazy! He's only eleven and he was already using that stuff?! But then my aunt told me that at his school they required everyone to wear it. The gym teachers would inspect their bags and they would get points taken off for not having it! I think that this is outrageous!
I believe that putting on deoderant is a personal choice!
My aunt also told me that she complained to the school that he was too young, she found out that EVERYONE working there must wear it too! She asked what if they didn't, then they would be in trouble.
To me that's seriously messed up....

ANYWAYS... do you guys no any weird school rules?
rawritskim

We have to wear lanyards with our ID tag on them -.-'
Or we can't even enter the school.
It's bothersome. And I forgot it once and had to go home, hence received a tardy.
Oh joy~
wexbelongxtogether
This is strange, I posted this in the General Discussion and now it's here... huh... mellow.gif
Oh well...
rawritskim:That's strange, I never even heard of someone bringing a blanket to school ph34r.gif
vyn.
Lol this was moved to here 0_o? Strange

Well anyways, I just started highschool and everythings fine.
But I heard that my old elementary/middle schools has new rules due to the new principal.

Walking on the right side of the hall
They believe that this will help the school become safer so that the kids will not bump into each other.
I think its pathetic. Once they get to highschool, it won't matter which side you walk on...

Hall Passes
I know that some schools have this but.. I'm not entirely sure why.

Hands off
I understand that all schools have a hands off rule but this year my old school just went overboard with this.
Now you are not allowed to, shake hands, pat on the back, high five, poke, ...etc. I heard from my little brother that if you are caught doing one of those things, you get at least 3 detentions 0_o.

So weird....

No RED. It's like absolute. No red on shoes, hair, clothes, or accessories. When i say hair, i mean like hair accessories and what not. If you're caught wearing red they'll send you home, or make you wear like ugly shirts over it or something.
x kisekiboshi
Last year, if you were late 6 times, they made you go to court with your parents to appeal. I don't know if it really happened to anyone though. o_o;

LOL wtf, no red? Is it cause red is afflicted with bloods or something?

I do a lot.... Well I keep one in my locker, usually for track season or w/e I may need it for.

In my old school (private. in the philippines)

-going down stairs you have to keep on the right side so its organize like traffic on the road
-no beads accesories. only silver/gold/ jewelry. apparently, beads looks tacky and cheap (?) sleep.gif
-no logo sock. only plain white socks
-if you came in late. you and other late people will have your own m0rning ceremony. which takes 15-20 minutes. you will get caught no matter what. security guards will see you and escort you to the ceremony ground.
-all parties(prom. x-mas party. dance. graduation. recognition day.) attendace is mandatory

In middle school, we couldn't wear jackets in class and we couldn't bring in coffee because they thought we would put drugs in it o_o

wow .....there was an article in TIME magazine...i think it was the last issue? and it was talking about how it's not recommended to use deodorants 24/7 and how deodorants can actually be harmful in some cases. if i find the article, i would seriously rip it out of the magazine and shove it in the principal's face if i went to that school. i think that's a personal choice and also, some people don't stink even if they sweat :/....or even if they sweat 237502739857 buckets.

hahaahha my friend highlighted some of his hair red and he had to dye it back to black because of it.
wexbelongxtogether
^ exactly what I was thinking! Man, I need to find that article!
smileyface(:
can't wear all red/blue -> gang colors
after 3rd tardy you get saturday detention o_o

my middle school -- right side of the door = enter; left = exit.
they even had huge signs saying "enter" and "exit" quite funny, but no one followed it :x

we cant cross these stupid red lines during lunch. We're like box in or something, but like thats gonna stop us.

that's what happened during my last year of middle school 2 yrs ago.
it was really stupid, and they strongly enforced it. =/
& last year, my friend who was still in middle school said that the new principal said that 'you can't have cameras on campus.'

Yeah, its like that at my school as well.
You're not allowed to wear plain full red or blue at all
since you might be mistaken for gang affiliation or whatnot. o.o'
But if you have hair accessories, i don't think my school minds.
It's just if you are wearing those mega big t-shirts (idunno why guys wear these and then bag their pants. ew.)
they'll have you change or get called upto the office.
o.x;; I guess its for the student's safety.

Umm..can't think of anymore.

Oh, we have golf-car laidies/men around the school who chase you like crazy
if you do something wrong. Once this guy was running then a second later, two people
on golf carts were charging and told us to move out of the way.
Not to mention, these people were alittle overweighted o.o;; walk alittle, ditch the golf carts!!!! exercise people!

Anyways, theres another rule that schools are "punnishing" teachers who
don't send/take attendence during the first 10 minutes of class.

pillowise
Fortunately, my school doesn't have those "gang colors" rules that a lot of people have, because our school's colors look like gang colors anyway sleep.gif (black and red...)

We have tardy sweeps, which are randomly announced. After the bell rings, teachers are to lock their classroom door so people who are late can't get in. Then some of the faculty walk around the school to catch the people who are late.

Also, new rule this year. No energy drinks allowed on campus.

EDIT: Oh yeah, does anyone else have this stupid cell phone policy? If they catch you with your phone on, they take up your phone, and you can't get it back unless you pay $15. Freaking expensive rule. crazy.gif
x. S o R a
lol. our school isnt that strict.
we break alot of rules anyways -.-
tuck in shirt, no coloured shoes and stuff like that.
there's this really weird one oO
no accessories as in necklaces, bracelets and stuff.
but then, we didnt care much about it and the school seems to not care that much anymore.
lol. oh. and there's no sports before school starts and during recess
why? because you'll be tired and smelly. lol wtf? xD

and i read some posts and saw some weird rules oO
hands off and no red?!
that's like D:
i'd die
i cant go through one day without poking someone and laughing at them T___T
and like rose stuff D:

The stupidest rule for any school is the:

NO HATS RULE

SERIOUSLY? What is the point? They justify banning hats only because it helps them recognize who goes to the school and what not. But if every school has the same rule, any intruder would OBVIOUSLY not wear a hat. How stupid can this rule be?
joychin89
For my school,it was the no running and no shaving hair aka boy haircut(because i was from a girl school).
Anja
Well, our school is said to be the school with the most rules in this area.
This year, 5 new rules.
I don't know all the rules, and we break them alot, since some teachers don't care.

The most stupid rule is that you may not have your cell phone in your pocket of your trouser. If some teachers see that, they'll keep your cell phone for 5 days >.< Also, we can't carry our cell phone around, since they are forbidden in the whole school. That's just dumb, since a lot of people come from far away on bikes. I bike to school for a 11 kilometer.

isn't the no hats rule just because it's considered disrespectful? that's what i always thought.

that red gang issue is weird.1st time i heard of that.no problem like that here..cuz itz kansas..lol

side note: i heard deodorant was linked to breast cancer

We have tardy sweeps too sleep.gif
We also have a dress code sweep kinda thing? It's randomly announced as well.
It's usually around the first 10 minteus of class, and someone announces it on the loudspeaker.
The teachers have to check you and stuff. -__-

And wow, that cell phone policy is whack D:
We have something kinda like that, except your parents have to pick up your cellphone from the office.

Another thing my school does; for Pep Rallys, due to the lack of school spirit, if you don't wear your class colors then you can't get in =_= LAMEE! Sucks for the guys in my class; our color is baby blue HAHA.
rainparade
I remember when I was a freshman they made it a rule at dances that you
must face your partner at all times. It was something like "face to face but leave
some space." WTF

If you're caught with your cellphone during class you can't get it back until the
next day. On the second offense your parent or guardian has to pick it up.
HT2791
can't have condoms in our rooms (public dorm high school)
theLOSER
We have a "No hats" rule but we've had that since like middle school and everything.

we have a "dance" contract that everyone must sign or they can't go to dances
in the gym, or formal dances. its stupid and has the funniest things on there
ahaha.

idk if we have any other stupid rules.
saranghae!
No eating in the hallways during lunch.

Seriously pisses me off. I hate the cafeteria and it's a fire hazard if all 1200+ students ate there.

ooo my school is same as yours. maroon is also not allowed. -___- i remember wearing this maroon hoody with the Harvard sign, the lady tell me to take it off. me: but it's HARVARD~~~ lady: no

meh and the golf cart, we have that in school too. =0 you must live pretty close to where i live.. san jose?~
Tai-chan
Hmm my school have a lot of similar rules with you guys
- No blanket because couple will like to *cough* do things under it
- If you're late even 1 second after the gates closed, you get an automatic saturday school. Thus, a lot of people skip the whole day anyways if they're late even for 5 seconds!
- No gum allowed at ALL, because our school ground is literally polka dotted with gum stains. The people in saturday school have to scrape them off.
- No jerseys or hats at all.
bhebie9
We also have the "No hats" rule, but I don't think it's strange at all... hats aren't really needed in school.

We're not allowed to wear "FCUK" =_=
soapja
We aren't allowed to bring our school bags into the caf...gotta leave them outside in the hallway.
WTFFFF! it's a fire hazard, and things get stolen.

so lame.
emceej
no plain white t-shirts.
you can't even wear a plain white v-neck dry.gif
they think it's gang related or something .
skeezeee
/tardy sweeps for us are called lockdowns LMAO ...
/no plain colored t-shirts, but girls get away with it better than guys!
/apparently, it's a new law that you can't sell soda/candy during school hours in CA.
/no sharpies o__o ..
/there's a rumor that you can't wear red skinny jeans to school.

last year, the AP made it clear that you couldn't wear skinny jeans to school too .. but i still got away with it ! ^__^
YaMiTa
hahaha i remember last year when they didn't let us use metal cutlery
we had to use plastic ones
happy.birthday
In elementry, we couldn't wear any shorts or capris pants unless it was 90 degrees or higher. Hence we all got excited for 'Shorts Days'.

My high school is pretty chill... some people go around wearing vampire capes and no one says anything. I go to an art/drama school though.
EmY16
At my school, we...

1. Can't have our shirts untucked
2. When we have relaxed dress(normal clothes), we have to have sleeves. No tank tops.
3. Have to have clear/mesh backbacks
4. We can wear jeans with our uniform shirts during the week. We used to have to wear only the uniform pants, but the jeans have to be a dark wash. They have to be kinda loose, no skinnies or baggy jeans. Must have four pockets and nothing can be on them except the designer logo.
5. Guys can't have their hair over their eyes or ears.
6. No capris/shorts even in 100 degree weather.
7. Even if your phone is off, if the staff sees it they take it away, and you have to pay $5 to get it back.
8. We have a "6 inch rule" where you have to 6 inches part from a person (always break this).
9. If you have class in the annex before lunch, you cannot walk in the grass that goes to the cafeteria. Instead you have to go all the way around on the sidewalk. That makes you late for lunch. After two weeks, all the students started to break this.

There are more but I can't remember them now...
kikkie.kl
Our school has so many gang related attire rules, it's stupid.

"NO WHITE TSHIRTS. NO OVERSIZED TSHIRTS (even though they give you an XXXL when you get dress coded). NO BLUE OR RED BANDANAS (I didn't even know our city had gangs). NO BAGGY JEANS (they should've banned too-tight skinnies and fat constricting clothing instead; our school is john teshing overweight, no sodas or anything allowed). ETC..."

I don't even bother to read the stupid rule book anymore because of the ridiculous rules. Freshman year was way more chill.
chattaboxie
we can't wear anything that reveals our shoulders.

O.o
gabbstar
no eating in the cafeteria during recess O_O
no eating in the classrooms
cant stay in the classrooms at recess/lunch unless u have permission
no bags in the library
no mobiles/mp3's
cant dye hair non natural colours
no jewellery except stud ear piercings only
no makeup
azn_meeagi
We're not allowed to change our clothes during the school day unless we're changing for gym.
It's kind of random. XD Idk who would actually change their school clothes anyway. haha.

Oh, and another: no sleeping in study hall. O__o

at our school we have tardy sweeps too!
oh! and sometimes officers randomly come into our classes and use the little machine thing to check if we have metal.
once, i had my key in my pocket and they went over it and the machine was like BEEP BEEEEEEEEEEEP! i got in trouble -___-
its a freakn KEY! geez,

forgot to mention our school is located in the 'ghetto' area
Yuenie
I have to say my school is pretty lax on these types of rules luckily. The one rule we have considered "strange" is the having to wear only solid colors shirt rule. They tried to enforce the rule a couple years back but now they just don't bother anymore. xD

Stuff like having no cellphones or mp3s is only lightly enforced (as long as you hide it in your bag then it doesn't matter), but if a teacher confiscates it like when your phone rings in class, then you can get it back after school depending on how mean the teacher who took it was.
bythepen
our rules change a lot because our principal changes every year, but most of these just started this year
- have to go through a metal detector every morning. i've been late so many times because of this
- seniors have to have a parent to check in after either 8:30 am. underclassmen have to have a parent to check in after 10:30 am. sucks cause i skip my morning class a lot, but now everyone just skips the whole day..
- no "trimming". so none of your accessories can match. no purple earrings with purple necklace and purple shoes, etc.
- strict dress code. white or black shirt with black, navy, or khaki pants.
- can't wear your backpack except for before and after school
- no cellphones at all, even before or after school hours. if a teacher takes it up you have to get a parent to come get it the next school day. my teachers don't really care about this one though
- random hall sweeps for tardiness/skipping

we have the teachers on golf carts too

the way my school and the administrators are though, if you're black you can be out of dresscode without getting caught, but you'll get in trouble for skipping. if you're white you'll get in trouble for being out of dresscode but nobody really cares if you're skipping. kinda weird but that's how it's been for a while

rules have been relaxed lately though cause the principal was removed for sexual harrassment charges cool.gif
