COMPLETE RULES IN FULL DETAIL:

1.) All the general forum rules apply to this section as well.

This means NO PROFANITY, NO RACIST OR OTHERWISE HATEFUL MESSAGES, NO SEXUALLY EXPLICIT MATERIAL, NO SPAMMING, NO DUPLICATE ACCOUNTS, AND OBEY THE SIGNATURE and 20 CHARACTER LIMIT RULES.

2.) Do not bash other forum members or any musical artists.

Do not make any derogatory comments against other members, a specific singer or group─doing so will result in a warning.

3.) Do not post or request for direct download links.

As long as the file is downloadable, it is not allowed. Streaming links are okay to post.

a.) Direct download links are not allowed to be posted. These include direct links from file hosting servers such as Sendspace, Megaupload, YouSendIt, Mediafire, zSHARE, RapidShare, etc. as well as from private servers, torrents and Clubbox. For Clubbox files, it is okay to post a link to the specific box address where the file is located (e.g. http://clubbox.co.kr/BOXNAME) but linking to a specific file is not allowed (e.g. http://down.clubbox.co.kr/BOXNAME/iia0k1).

b.) Requesting for direct download links and websites to download is not allowed. Asking for such links to be messaged/sent to you via PM is considered a request.

4.) If you are going to make an official artist thread, notify us in the pinned topic ─> Index Of Official Threads

This is so we can keep the forums better organized for the benefit of all who come here. Please post a reply with the name of the artist and a link to your official thread once you post it. If someone else has already created an official thread of the same artist, then your thread will be closed. Note that mods reserve the right to change the topic starter if the original starter is no longer active in the forums or shows little interest in maintaining their thread (see announcement). An artist is entitled to have an official thread provided they have released a(n) single/mini-album/album.

Official threads of a group is meant for discussions of that group's activities only. If one or more of their members releases a solo single/mini-album/album, and they have their own official threads, the solo activities should only be discussed in their own solo threads, not the group thread. Posting group members' solo activities in the group thread instead of their own solo thread or double posting in both group and solo threads will be treated as spamming and the user will be warned.

5.) Do not quote any pictures.

Pictures take up a lot of time to load, especially if they are not thumbnailed. If you are quoting pictures, it increases the time needed to load the page. Please be considerate to other forum users. Instead, remove the [img][/img] tags around the link. Don't know how?

Example image:

^ If you quote this image, it'll appear as so:

QUOTE

^ DO NOT DO THIS. Instead, when you quote a post remove the [img][/img] tags around the picture's link:

CODE
[quote]
[img]http://img249.imageshack.us/img249/1651/25783505qc8.png[/img]
[/quote]

^ Delete the [img][/img] tags from the post.

The end result:

QUOTE

^ The previously quoted image is now just a link.

6.) Specific rules apply to the 1TYM, Dong Bang Shin Ki, SM Town, Super Junior, Wonder Girls and YG Family threads. Refer to page 1 of these threads.

In the past, these threads have either failed to comply with our general rules, have had duplications of many posts, or have otherwise shown the need for additional guidance. Thus, extra rules have been implemented to govern these threads. Members who post in these threads should be aware of the thread specific rules at all times.

7.) Stay on topic!

a.)
Convoing is not allowed. If you have something directed towards a particular forum member, please private message them or comment on their profile instead.

b.) Spamming is not allowed. What is considered spam?

- Unrelated comments e.g. comments about personal life or other artists having nothing to do with the topic
- Unrelated pictures. Pictures posted must be of or related to the topic/artist in question.
- Posts containing ONLY one liners or other short comments that are not constructive in nature e.g. "Thanks for the translation!", "I LOVE DBSK!!!!", "Happy New Year!", etc. These type of comments are fine though if you have other constructive material in your post.

c.) Discussion in official artist threads should be about/related to the artist in question. If you are in Artist A's official thread, you should not be discussing Artist B, C, D, E, etc. However, it is fine to mention other artists if they pertain to the main artist being discussed and it is not necessary to cover up their names and/or related comments applicable to the discussion.

Example of an appropriate response in Artist A's thread:

QUOTE
I just found out that Artist A and Artist B are going to sing a song together at the upcoming _______ awards show! Artist A must be excited for this since I remember her saying before that she looks up to Artist B...

^ Notice how even though someone other than Artist A is mentioned (Artist B ), the comment is clearly focused on Artist A.

What NOT to do in Artist A's thread:

QUOTE
I just found out that Artist A and Artist B are going to sing a song together at the upcoming _______ awards show! Omg it'd be so cool if they sang Artist B's song ________. I LOVE that song. BTW, when did Artist B get back to Korea? I thought that they were still doing activities in _______? They must soooo tired right now. ________ should really give them a break.

^ The comment is clearly getting off topic with the mentions of Artist B's activities (that are unrelated to Artist A) in Artist A's thread.

8.) English is the default language.

Please remember that Soompi is an English language forum with an international audience. When posting in a language that is not English, it should be for the purposes of providing OR requesting for translations/romanizations/a summary (whatever is appropriate), or to fulfil certain requests (e.g. a request for a song title or lyrics in Hangul, clarification on a translation, etc.).

NEW RULES - Added September 14, 2008

9.) Do not ABUSE the use of spoilers, strikethroughs, or different font colours.

While these posting features have legitimate uses, it has become increasingly aware to moderators that many forum members are abusing such features.

a.) Hiding, covering or otherwise obstructing comments from plain view should not be used for abusive purposes, such as circumventing rules. Moderators have caught offenders in the past abusing these features to bypass the swear filter, post derogatory comments toward other forum members, engage in artist bashing, request for direct downloads, spam, etc. DO NOT DO THIS. Members caught hiding their comments to engage in such behaviour will be warned for their offences in the same manner as offenders who do not hide their comments, if not more severely.

b.) In accordance with rule #7 point c: It is NOT necessary to hide/cover up comments or parts of comments (especially names of other people, places, things, etc.) if comments are on topic. All this does is make posts more difficult to read at first glance, and this is a hindrance to other forum members. Likewise, comments that are not on topic are considered spam and should not be posted.

10.) Do not create polls without prior permission from a moderator.

Members are not allowed to create polls unless approved by a Korean Music Forum moderator. In the past, we have had many random and repetitive poll topics. As well, voting results can often be biased and inaccurate. However, if you have a good subject or need a K-pop survey for some type of school work, please PM a moderator and we will review your topic and decide whether or not to approve your poll. All polls created without a moderator's approval will be closed.

Moderators are given the right to enforce these rules and where appropriate, hand out warnings (as well as other sanctions) to forum members who break them.
