If you grew up in a Chinese-speaking family with a casette player or radio, you have heard her. I remember my mom playing her songs constantly when I was little. I didn't know her that well until I heard David Tao's rendition of her song 月亮代表我的心 and discovered it was originally sung by her.
Teresa is from Taiwan whos ancetry is from Hubei China. She was an immensely popular artist during the 80s and 90s in Chinese-speaking countries and also Japan, where she released several chart-topping singles in Japanese. She died in 1995 at age 42 due to an asthma attack.
Her songs are sentimental and nostalgic to many people and countless current artists like David Tao, Faye Wong, Leslie Chueng and Jolin Tsai has covered her songs.

she is a legend. love her songs and her voice!
and she was such a sweet lady, nice and caring to her fans.
it's so unfortunate she had to pass away the way she did, she was at her peak in her career.

my mom always sings her songs at Karaoke!! I admit, I like her songs too... she definetly is a legend. Its sad how she died at a young age =/
