I was wondering who holds the title "POP Princess" in each asian country?
I know there's no single Pop Princess of ASIA, no matter how some might want to FORCE it so. But who are the contenders for each?
I tried to google the term 'pop princess' and then attach the name of the country, and all i got are these: (Hopefully, some of you can confirm or tell me who should be written on the list)
korea - Boa
taiwan - Jolin Tsai
japan - Ayumi Hamasaki
philippines - Sarah Geronimo
indonesia - Agnes Monica
malaysia - Siti Nurhaliza
I don't know who are the Pop princesses for the following:
hongkong
thailand
vietnam
singapore
india
mainland china
other countries?
Can somebody help?

I don't know...I often see her in Hoa Hoc Tro (=vietnamese magazine),
and I can find her CDs in every shop (in Vietnam of course)..
Here's a pic of her:

Hong Kong - Joey Yeung
But I'd say that Jolin Tsai is the de facto "princess" of the entire Chinese-speaking world (Taiwan, mainland, HK, etc)

Laos: Alexandra Bounxouei (i think hahha) well she's the most known

^ For Laos I think I'd go more towards Ting Phailavanh

She sings more pop stuff than Alexandra, though Alexandra is more well known and doing stuff in Thailand now.
Thailand, though female popstars aren't really big right now o_o (everyone's about the boys), yeah, I guess I'd go with Tata Young, she's the only real big one still active
And Cambodia I'd think Pich Sophear

^ yeah i was thinking that also haha
not really a fan of alexandra myself but i just thought she was wellknown
but she sings more folk music i think than pop so probably Ting Phailavanh would
fit more
heres her pic

Is it safe to assume that Jolin Tsai is also the Pop Princess of mainland China? or is there another artist for that title?

Mainlanders mostly follow Taiwanese music so I think it's safe to say...

Mainland China - Faye Wong I would think.
And honestly Faye is better than anyone on that list, vocally, creatively. She's written a lot of her own hits, and her voice is just ethereal.
She's the pop queen though.
For mainland China pop princess maybe Li Yuchun or Jane Zhang. Both are really popular right now.
I find it insulting that you think mainland people only follow Taiwan.

Faye Wong doesn't record anymore and I don't think anyone would consider her a princess. Plus, she's primarily a canto-pop singer.
Go to Shanghai or Beijing, you'll see that even though people like Jane are popular, it's the Taiwanese artists like Jolin and Jay that sell that records.
And pull the stick out of your ass, I wasn't trying to insult anyone.

Faye Wong has stopped activities but she's still the best. It doesn't matter. It's not like she's never going to sing again.
And no, she doesn't sing primarily Cantopop. For the last ten or something years she's been singing in her native tongue Mandarin. She sang cantopop because that was the only way to get famous in Hk, but she's very mainland based now.
Jay may sell more records than Li Yuchun or Jane, but he's not a pop princess, and if you look at all the mainland websites, there's no way Jolin's popularity is bigger.

yup definitely Stefanie for Singapore.

and i think
to me Han Hong is the best female artist in China.(though if u say it's pop princess..i think she's not)
and Faye Wong is not a pop princess. Not in the past, nor future(since she probably won't sing anymore and even if she sings, its not pop).

don't be offended but i neither hate or like Faye Wong.i like some of her old songs though.

Uh, the rumours of a comeback for her are flying around, and they're getting stronger.
