Santogold

Santogold (name: Santi White) is a songwriter, producer, and singer from Philadelphia who has been active since 2003.

Santogold was lead singer of the Philadelphia-based punk rock/ska band Stiffed, but while in the band, she was offered a solo contract. Working with fellow Stiffed member John Hill as co-producer, she recorded her debut album, Santogold, which was released in April 2008. Santogold’s style has been defined as a mix of dub, electronic, indie rock, new wave, and punk rock. --- Last.fm

I feel as though she's getting more exposure now that M.I.A. is really starting to blow up in the states. Not saying that it's a bad thing.
I like "Les Artistes" all right.

i like the Diplo mixtape they have out.
wanted to see her with Coldplay but missed it )=

santogolds pretty good. i remember seeing her in a crapload of magazines a little after she released her album.

santogold is amazing... 'you'll find a way' is the first song i heard and i've never stopped lovin it!

and bonde de role is good too! 'marina gasolina...'

agreed. i like her, i don't love her. and i can feel myself getting sick of this urban-hipster-80's-with-an-edge stuff.

What do you think about her "selling out" and making a song for...oh, my memory fails me...McDonald's? Nike? I remember hearing about that on the radio during the summer.

agree.. i mean Julian C. and Pharrell did it too and i don't see it as really selling out. her music has been used for a few commercials out there. i think for cars & beer?

i made a thread about baile funk a longgg time ago in here.. one girl i like is from Japan, Tigarah.. but of course her stuff is in Japanese. her stuff is pretty different though.
