Well, correct me if I'm wrong. But you guys take SATs for good stats, in order to get in a good university, right? So basically to let people compare your stats with others (including your SATs score), so the people of the university can decide if you're qualificated for their university.

To finish your 6th grade year here, every pupil is obligated to take a big test (you can't learn really learn for it; it's based on your intelligence level). Based on that test score and the advice of the elementary school teachers, pupils are divided in divisions. The difference between those divisions are obviously the academic levels. I didn't add more details, because our education system is quit confusing >.<

Anyway, I'm in Gymnasium (the highest division you can get into) and this year we also have exams. That's because we have a couple of subjects that you're supposed to end this year, and some exams that count for your end grade after your graduation. Only with a Gymnasium diploma, you're allowed to directly attend an university for a bachelor degree.

Anyway, how are SATs? Can you learn for it? Is it compulsory to take those SATs? And what if you don't take them?

Well the SAT is a giant cumulative/reasoning test. So you can study for it - which helps A LOT - and you can study some tricks that'll make the test a bit easier, but it really comes down to how much you understand the subject and how well you read...at least that's how I see it.
I've only taken the PSATs, which is supposed to be similar to the SATs, but shorter and the essay isn't included. The essay is supposed to be relatively easy and can be based on your own personal experiences (can you say make stuff up! 8D Woot!).

I'm not totally sure if that makes sense so don't take my word for it. XD

In a way time really is flying by, but...sophomore year is terrible! haha.
I mean, I'm older than the Frosh, but I'm still younger than everyone else! Feels like I'm getting no where. XD

One of my cousins, she's in college now. She was telling me how junior year was the worst year of her life and sophomore year wasn't bad at all.
This makes me really worried about next year, since I'm already stressing more than ever. >.<

So far Sophmore year is harder for me, just because i'm lazier than last year(i know, hard to believe)

But, i'm doing a lot more extracurricular stuff and hanging with new people so thats always fun.

Junior year is my trepidation (haha Sat vocab, prob used it in wrong context, o well)
Everyone who's older than we are are all saying "Enjoy your last year of freedom."
Which is the same thing they said when we were in 8th grade "Enjoy your last year of freedom."

All of my friends, who are seniors this year, say that Junior is definitely harder than Sophomore year, but it's a lot more fun because of all the activities the Juniors do...at least over here. But who knows? Maybe Junior year will be harder, but more stress free...if that makes sense.

I heard that senior year is craaazy though what with the huge workload and college applications. I'm psyched to get senioritis though! Muahaha! I just hope I don't get it so badly that I get kicked out of my college. haha.

Yeah, this year I'm a lot more involved with the school...last year I only focused on sports and skipped all the clubs...Oops. haha.

Yes, it actually is a pretty cool system ^^ Because if we weren't divided in divisions, the people who aren't that smart will have trouble catching up with the classes. While people who are quite smart are getting bored because it's too easy for them. Don't you guys have that kind of situation over there?

Yeah. Back in middle school everyone was pushed into the same classes and I was stuck with all the...*cough* not so smart kids, but in hs, they separate us into different classes. For the freshman and sophomores, the highest classes you can take are honors, then CP, then general. So right now I'm in all honors and in Junior and Senior year I'll be taking AP classes - which are basically honors classes, but we have double periods and we have to take AP tests at the end of the year.

The SATs 3 hours and 45 minutes long. T___T
They're broken down into sections though and we get breaks in between them.

Well, I looked at Columbia during the winter break and it's beautiful~~ I really like the campus and the whole city setting. So I think I'm going to apply there. Maybe Stanford since they have good financial aid and it's in Cali 8D (it rains a lot by Stanford though T____T), Yale, possibly UPenn and JHU.
I haven't really narrowed it down to my dream school yet. haha. And it's going to be pretty painful pumping out all those college applications, but it's going to be SO worth it in the end! 8D

Aw, you guys are so lucky! Ivy League universities are so beautiful. Did you see their campus? x.x I watched some videos on youtube, and omg..*dies* I don't live in the US, iloveyourawr. Europe here >.> I can study abroad though, but seriously..I would really miss my family. Anyway, what are you guys planning to major in? ^^

Ah, so that's what honors/AP classes are. So basically you could choose your 'level' of classes at the end of your freshmen year. Way to go azn_meeagi, smart girl! =D We have something like that too, over here. At the end of our freshmen year, you get to choose your classes. You can see your profile. We have to explain to very roughly, two profiles. One profile for the people we want to become something with economics (classes including ecnomics, history) and another one for people who want to become for example a doctor (classes including science, biology..) But ony for Math we can choose the difficulty of it. ..I've choses the most difficult Math, and please slap me, because I really don't know why I chose it. I must be drunk when I chose it, or something like that! It's soooo hard >.>

Yeah, 8th grade we have to take a placement test. Sometimes you can ask to be pushed up a class though.

Time goes by so fast!

My grades are terrible right now and they have been terrible in frosh year too.
Anyone else have this problem? I'm really scared that it'll affect my chances of getting into a decent college, even with a solid sat score and extracurriculars.

I'm really interested in liberal arts colleges right now. Anyone else feel the same?

I did pretty bad on my PSAT's which I thought was sort of weird since I usually do very well in school.
I guess I have to do some hardcore studying in the summer!

I was supposed to graduate in 2011 but I FINALLY realized that I don't know what I want to do anymore. Now I'm transferring from a private to a public and I'll probably end up graduating later than expected. I feel like crap.

Alot of college's don't specifically focus on GPA although it helps you alot, but if you bombed freshman year and now your improving in your grades colleges love that stuff. They see your really trying hard, also serious about school. Remember Junior year the most most most important year of High school for you, don't worry
