Nana Eikura, Eita pair up for film about young cancer victim

Director Ryuichi Hiroki has a new project in the works titled "Yomei Ikkagetsu no Hanayome," which will star Nana Eikura and Eita.

The movie is based on the true story of the love between Chie Nagashima, a woman who died at the age of 24 while fighting breast cancer, and her boyfriend/husband Taro Akasu. Nagashima's life was the subject of a documentary aired by TBS last July. Filming starts this October in preparation for theatrical release next May, timed to coincide with Nagashima's death anniversary.

The documentary achieved ratings of 16.6%, and the story was later published as a book that sold more than 400,000 copies. Movie offers rolled in, and producer Takashi Hirano eventually earned the consent of Nagashima's family. Last year, Hirano produced "LIFE: Tengoku de Kimi ni Aetara," a similar biopic about windsurfer Natsuki Iijima, who died of liver cancer.

I can't wait for this movie. I watched the trailer today and it made my heart throb (in a both good and bad way T_T) I know I'm going to cry a bucket load; this movie sounds beautiful already.

Sorry for the double post, but does anyone know how it's doing in Japan? It should have just released, so I'm interesting how it's doing, especially with such big promotions for it coming from Nana... She started promoting right after "Mei-chan" too.

Nana Eikura, Eita's new movie going to Puchon

Director Ryuichi Hiroki's latest movie, "Yomei Ikkagetsu no Hanayome," is being screened at this year's Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival in Korea, which runs from July 16 to July 26. It will be shown in the festival's "Off the Fantastic" program.

It has also been decided that the film will open in seven locales outside Japan, including Taiwan and Hong Kong.

The movie co-stars Nana Eikura and Eita in a　story about a woman fighting breast cancer. Since its premiere on May 9, roughly 2.1 million people have watched it in theaters.
