BIOGRAPHY
Born in 1990, Yuya 松下優也 decided in 2002, at the age of twelve, that his goal was to be a singer.
His desire to be a singer drove him to do research at bookstores and visit Caless Vocal & Dance School, a school he chose on his own. The school, realizing his talent, admitted him on a scholarship. While his training focused on gospel and Western music, he also became interested in street dance and spent a lot of time studying and practicing it.
In 2004, he formed SUGER, a dance/vocal group with Caless classmate Shota Shimizu, among others. Following the formation of SUGER, Yuya met producer Jin Nakamura, who wrote foolish foolish, which was inspired by his first impression of the young artist.
In October of 2005, Yuya, a ninth grader at the time, visited New York City by himself. The trip became a turning point in his life and prompted him to make the decision to pursue music as his life instead of going to high school, though he and his mother disagreed on the choice. 2005 also saw Yuya recording foolish foolish, the song Nakamura wrote. He was one step closer to realizing his dream.
Following his decision to launch his solo career, Yuya quit SUGER and, in 2007, signed with Epic Records Japan to start preparations of his major debut.
Yuya returned to New York, the city of his dreams, again in 2007, this time as Yuya 松下優也 the artist. He spent his time there shooting photos and video for his debut single, foolish foolish, scheduled for release on November 26th.
With his debut coming up shortly, Yuya 松下優也 is already a star, in essence. The only thing left to do is wait for him to take the stage and show the world what he's got.
