Ok, so this thread is just trying to gauge interest as to see who would like to listen, maybe even be a DJ for a radio station. Im not sure if people remember but about 3-4 years ago we had a radio station. It did quite well, hosting soompi idol and various other competitions. Unfortunately, it had to be shut down.

Fast forward to 2009, its a new year and talk amongst a few people in the IRC chat have aroused interest in the rebirth of the once great Soompi Radio. It wont be officially affiliated with Soompi, but rather run independently. In fact we set up a little test run today, and it had extremely positive results. I love/d the radio, i had an awesome time with it. In fact its the reason i have a girlfriend today. But alas that's for a different day.

So let me know in this thread with your comments, ideas, suggestions about the radio. After all we are tailoring it to you. Currently we can support a limited listener base but hopefully if we get enough love and support from all of yall we can expand our capabilities.

And if thats not enough, if you need further convincing look at my signature. Its been 3-4 years since i could use that as a gateway to the radio. You do the math, kitty haters.

We are holding auditions. If you would to try out to be a dj on SRC please send in the following. Record yourself using a program like goldwave of you, introducing a song. 1-2 minutes long. Or if you can mix songs on the air, send us a clip of your skills. Please upload it to a site like megaupload or if you have a soundclick that is fine as well. PM the link through soompi to either me, DJ Yee or DJ K. We will decide amongst ourselves. Almost like American Idol.

In your PM please include your desired DJ name like "DJ Snazzy Pants" or something like that, the link to your clip where we can listen/download your clip. Please be patient as we our busy people, but we will try to do it quickly. Also please title your PM "SRC audition"

We may or may not decide who's going to be dj's on the air, depending on the hype that surrounds it. The New Dj's will be given a 30 minute block to try out their stuff Live, On air.

Oh yes, i loved it back then. I actually think it'd be very fun and even more successful this time around.
Since i don't regularly update myself with Soompi's Weekly K-pop Music Chart as much as i'd like to, i think it'd be a relevant and great idea to include a regular portion of the time on air each week for that..xDD And then, of course, you have all the contests and concerts to announce etc. It'd be great!
It's nice to hear of soompi radio surfacing again. =) Hope to get more updates on it soon.^^

a trial of 50 slot shoutcast will be made shortly.... (within 24 hours)
as we get more listeners, we'll get more slots.

these things arent cheap and as of right now, we are doing it out of our own pockets.

Actually we used to have a weekly countdown show on the Soompi's k-pop music chart on soompi radio. I recalled JohnnyMoon, koumi, G-Nitro all hosted the show before.

it'll depend on the DJ.
if they are using tracklist, it'll be up... if they are doing it live... you can always go on IRC #soompi.radio @ Rizon
and ask the dj.

Normally there WILL be a tracklist available, but because I (DJ Yee²) am mixing the songs live with a different program, you won't see the tracklists. However, I'll try to adjust for that by manually typing the song names in or giving out birthday shout outs,

We can also push a bot in IRC to broadcast the song name and a few other nice features as well. I'm in the process of looking for a Shout-Out and Request bot/manager.

Interesting. I'm actually glad to hear that so many of us remember the old Soompi radio days. Best wishes to its' success and I'll definitely be tuning in often. I am definitely in support for such a venture and I'll look in to what ways I can "personally" support you guys..

I wouldn't say I'm the one in charge. I'd say that's David. He's the mastermind behind it all.

I'm just helping and trying to keep it interesting. I mean have you seen anyone DJ LIVE Asian music? You hear it all of the time in clubs with English songs, but I haven't seen it applied to Asian songs yet. So I figure I would try my hand at it. I'm not very proficient yet, but I hope to be.

Just trying to keep things fun and get people involved.

This should be extremely fun. Kpop radio. But since I am stupid and new about this thing... how could I listen to it? XD
