I'm sure everyone here is 20+ and we all have joined this place at a certain period of time. Some of us have been around for a while. What have you learned throughout the years in your time here? Since you joined Soompi.
I've been here at the start of a new beginning for this forum in 2005. It's been some time. I remember stuff I see in past years. I've ventured to many sections of the forums. I went to topics in the older days that I learn from and get things out of. I learned to always try to be positive and don't let anything bring me down. I've also learned that when things change it can be hard to get moving on and do new things.

I'm thankful Soompi has been around for so long and still going strong!

I've learnt:
soompi is great in finding asian celeb pics
most soompi asian girls are wack and insane (love & relationships, the real world, beauty & fashion, fanfics)
some soompi asian guys use this place as a pick up joint
the world has too many asian people who complain
the internet has made asian people in western countries even more anti social
soompi asian guys need help with their hair and fashion sense

I've learned that Soompi is dominated by women and the only way to get attention is to create a thread about food or relationship. I also learned that you can have a suggestive picture of an abalone in your sig, but the minute you dare use font size 4, the admin gods will be all over you.
Here's to you, Soompi!

LOL. Do they really?
I think the world has too may people that complain .. PERIOD.
I learned that there are a lot of ... not so bright people in this world. Oh, also that reading comprehension doesn't seem to be a big thing around here. What are they teaching in schools these days?
I've also learned that Soompi makes the time fly by when i'm at work but it also keeps me from doing a lot of work. Maybe it's time to give up Soompi. That way i'll actually be able to get all my work done. Lol.

I have been a soompi member ever since I was 14 years old. Now I am 21. I remember the server moves and how sad I was during a period of time waiting for soompi to come back online with the new server/look.
I learned that you can skip a couple of pages of a popular thread and pretty much get the gist of what everyone else said by reading the last page (most of the time). I have come to accept the existence of really girly looking Asian guys. I accept it so much that I never look at an Asian girl without wondering if she was really a guy who is dressing feminine. It's that bad sometimes.
If there is a popular star at the moment, there will be many picture topics about them. Oh how I still remember the S.E.S./Shinhwa/Boa/Se7en days when every other topic would be about them. When soompi members take pictures, they look to cover half of their face or have their bangs cover their eyes or look into the camera at awkward angles. And that a lot of members like to play "guess my ethnicity" game.

i dont know why people do that? does it matter? Is it an inferiority complex for other asians and they want acceptance into the "cool" ethnicity or want to look mixed?

I remember how the general discussion used to be very frequent. Now it isn't like that anymore. Also, the forums have definately gotten younger. There are too much of these "what did you do today?" "what do you think of that?" type of threads. I liked it better in the older days. In the general discussion section there used to be more deep conversations in discussions. Now topics can get more redundant to respond to. Maybe I've just seen everything that I need to.

I learned to cook

Rice cooker cake is full of win! haha also learned how to style my hair to look young, learned I'm weird for not wearing make-up despite being 20, learned relationships are hilarious to read about
MOST IMPORTANTLY:
I learned that no matter how stupid I am (or was when I was young), there's SOMEONE (more than one) that has done something worse. In fact, I'm probably a saint in comparison ^^;; Which is a boost for my self esteem (which is, sadly, why I go on Soompi so often). Also keeps me in check to know there are plenty of smarter people out there too

I know it's not a big deal, but I'm surprised how addictive the forums are even though the posts are really... idk... empty content-like D:
I've been to other forums and have closed useless threads all the time, but dannggggg, some members really don't really read the opening posts carefully, don't know how to create a substantial opening post, and post the same things as the member above and/or above and/or above just to increase their post count.

Are there examples you can give? You don't have to if you can't. Most of the time when people make their post in a thread they are one and done unless something is compelling.
I know it's not a big deal, but I'm surprised how addictive the forums are even though the posts are really... idk... empty content-like D:
Which is the reason why there are threads that don't have much deep discussion. When it doesn't have that, to me, it becomes less inspiring to be a part in a thread. To add to what I said earlier, I feel like the forums have degraded.

You said it. That picture still freaks me out. I always have to take a second look every.single.time to make sure.
I learned that :
- Asian people still don't know that
Chink is one of the most offensive words and yet they make screen-names out of them.
- The '8-min ab' works miracles and I feel like a terrible pedophile for drooling over the young boy who opened that thread.
- That if you have an opinion about something that isn't part of the
soompi-norm, you get verbally jumped by most of the teeny-boppers on this forum.
- That the older population on this forum is decreasing exponentially as the days go by and I don't think it's because adults are growing out of it but rather that the younger generations are scaring them away.

I have to disagree with some things.
I believe that Asians in general are the worst critics of the world. We judge each other more harshly than others judge us.
I find it sad that not only are we crudely insulted because we are a minority among whites, but that when I hear another Asian belittle each other is heart breaking.

I've learned there are more self-pompous, egotistical, hypocritical, and cynical people than I've been unfortunate to encounter in real life.
And that some people love to give advice so they can feel better about their own so-called "wisdom" that they don't get in real life and that often people seeking advice just want attention and people to listen to them--people they can't find in real life.
That people like to put on fronts and create 411's that read a lot like a PR-created product with no real substance.
