According to this site the 88x does NOT support wifi.
Blackberry smartphones that support wifi are:
  • BlackBerry® Bold™ 9000 smartphone
  • BlackBerry® Pearl™ Flip 8220 smartphone
  • BlackBerry® Pearl™ 8120 smartphone
  • BlackBerry® Curve™ 8900 smartphone
  • BlackBerry® Curve™ 8320 smartphone
  • BlackBerry® Curve™ 8350i smartphone
  • BlackBerry® 8820 smartphone

Sorry :[ Hmm, but ipod touches have free wifi (:

and how do u install themes biggrin.gif

To install themes:
1) First download the theme from a theme website such as this website (click!)
2) The file should be in a .zip format
3) Extract the files
4) Open desktop manager (cd that came with your blackberr)
5) Connect computer and blackberry via usb
6) Click on 'application loader'
7) Click on 'add' and find the files you extracted
8) Wait for blackberry to auto restart
9) Go to Themes in the options menu and it should be there!

Reason that it's prob not working
- Most bb's need Plasmic Theme Reader, but sometimes it comes with it
- Certain themes need a certain operating system such as 4.1, 4.3 or 4.5

Or you can watch youtube videos on how to install themes

You can find out your OS version by clicking OPTIONS (it should be the wrench icon) then click ABOUT
Then look at about the third line and it should say what version you have.
For example my third line says exactly this: "v4.5.0.77 (Platform 3.2.0.51)"
And I have version 4.5

I have no idea why your desktop manager won't download.
It could be a computer problem ...
Or you should try again.
I think it didn't work for me at first because it was lagging on the loading
But then it worked (: So keep trying!

Paying for wifi - stupid; if you don't have an ipod get an ipod touch.
free ipod. music. applications. what more can you ask for? (besides phone/text/bbm)

So to get the theme to work,
first make sure you have the desktop manager installed (:
When you figure that out I'll def guide you step by step with the rest

Blackbottoms
- Personally I love when my backgrounds are kind of dark or blackish towards the bottom. Makes my icons for my applications show better. So I specifically went on a search for black/dark bottomed backgrounds.
- Please note that this others posts do have black/dark backgrounds (:

There are many many different ways.
I'll just tell you some of the ways that I know.

✖✖ Phonezoo.com - which is what i use
1) create an account and sign up, make sure your phone number and phone model is correct
2) sign in
3) click ringtones (on the navigation bar)
4) click 'create from file'
5) upload the sound file
6) edit the song (only 30 seconds is allowed)
7) Finish and click save and send; it should send to your phone in the form of a multimedia message
(*note - you have to pay for the message!)
8) save the ringtone

✖✖ Crackberry.com
1) Log in or Sign up and then log in
2) Choose Genre, Album, Artist or Title
3) Choose a song
4) Enter you email that is connected to your blackberry and click the "Email me my ringtone!" button
5) Click on the URL from within the email, and the ringtone will open within your BlackBerry's Media Player
6) The Media player provides the option to "Save MP3 as Ringtone".

you dont have to use the cd.

jsut go to blackberry.com
if its your first time there select the country.

once the page loads up your going to click on software up at the top.

once that page loads up you will see blackberry desktop software on the left hand side.

click on blackberry desktop software

then once that pages loads up click on download in the body of the page.

it will not bring up a page that asks you to please select a product.

from the drop down menu click on it and select desktop manager v4.7

then click on next.

from here you will see which version you want to download according to your liking.

in most cases i just have customers download it without media manager becuase with media manager its like 200 or 300.

from there its pretty straight forward follow the prompts.

let me know if you have any other questions

I made a topic before on this, but I didn't get many answers. However, it seems like you guys will be able to help/answer me.

Has anyone changed the housing on their curves? Does that involve the screen as well? The reason why I'm asking is because my screen cracked in my bag (idk how either lol) and also, I would like to be able to change the colors of my blackberry. Does anyone have any pictures/tips/advice on this as well?

To answer the person below this, yes similar to color ware, except not as expensive.

With or without the data plan you can still MMS depending on if that's in your regular plan.
Data plan is just bbm and internet, so MMS and bbm are dependent of eachother.
What did you do just before it stopped working?
Change the plan? Changed a setting? Updated the OS?
Try taking out battery, waiting for 30 seconds and turning it back on to allow it to restart fully.

Apparently it cannot be done, but you can add the number onto your contacts list and simply turn the tone to MUTE.
For blackberrys you can add multiple numbers to one contact
there's work, work 2, home, home 2, etc so you can just
1) make a new contact and name it BLOCKED
2) click the button to left of trackball for options, click add customringtone
3) set tone to mute

You can tongue.gif
To set vibrate and tone on at the same time, while in any other mode (like normal) you:

1) Go to the application called PROFILES (NORMAL); or whatever it says in the parentheses
2) It will bring up a thing that says: loud, vibrate, quiet, normal, phone only and off.
3) Scroll down and click ADVANCED
4) Click on what you want to have the vibrate and tone with the options key (left of trackball)
5) Click Edit when the options come up
6) Click on phone
7) For out of holster click tone and options should come up, then click vibrate+tone
8) Exit and save, test it out

You don't need desktop software to just change your wallpaper
1) Save the image that you want to be your wallpaper (you can do this by emailing it to the email that is connected to your blackberry)
2) Then go to media and you should see it there in Pictures
3) Choose the picture you want and click the options button, between the green phone and the trackball
4) Click "set as home screen image"

actually, you can just take a picture. If you do that, skip down to the purple writing :}
Or even..there's a thread on here, I was just on yesterday biggrin.gif
Cute Wallpapers :}
I actually liked page 15. I think it was cuz there was Big Bang xD
you right click what you want, and then click Save Image As..
(and then give it a name)

Once you save the image, connect via USB and then go to Blackberry Desktop (when you first get your blackberry, unless you want to keep it free of updates/upgrades, you should install the CD that came with it. There should be a CD that says something like that)
If you don't have the CD, go to the Blackberry website..or even just search Blackberry. And then download the desktop...it shouldn't be that hard. Just get the latest desktop thing, it's.. 4.6?

Anyway, once you go to Blackberry Desktop, go to Media Managing.. there should be 2 divisions. (one on top, which has your computer files, and the bottom which has your phone's files)
click to where you saved the image (ie desktop if you saved it there)
and then click "pictures" (depending on if you have a media card. if you dont have a media card, just click pictures.. if you do, click Blackberry and then pictures)
Once you click Blackberry's pictures, and you have a media card, you should have some pictures that you already took on the bottom screen, unless you saved it onto your phone memory.
You can choose to save it either one, but I prefer the media card one.. anyway, just click your image and then click "copy down".

Once you have your picture, go to the picture that you just got/took and then click the blackberry button (left of the trackball) and then scroll to "set as homepage" and then get out.. and it should be in your homepage :]

If you need anymore clarifications, feel free to PM me. I've had my blackberry for almost a year now. (My parents used a contract deal and refurbished phone to get it for free)

too bad i can't go on the internet nor do i have a memory card to transfer the wallpapers & ringtones on it D:

btw, i have a curve with at&t and i've had it since last year. i used to be able to go on the internet when i first got it, but then my mom freaked out and took SOMETHING off. she said if the bill gets high again cause i go on the internet, i'll get my phone taken away, so i was scared to LOL.
but i have so much stuff i want to put on it, so i tried going on the browser. it would load for a little, then a message popped up saying:
"you are not currently in an area that can handle data communication. as a result, the browser cannot retrieve any web pages"

i try going on it at different places cause maybe it doesn't have good signal? but it's like that everywhere o___o; so i don't really know what's wrong.

i thought you can still go on it even if you don't have a data plan, cause my brother goes on his chocolate phone to download ringtones or whatever, but he has to pay extra for the data charges.
