it seems like only east coast people in the us know what beer pong is.
is it true?
do you west coast people play beer pong?
rms13515
I'm not from the west coast but here in Iowa some of my friends like to play it. Every weekend too, it's like they can't go a weekend without it. At a certain point I thought it was fun, but now it's too serious. Jeez it's just a game. Give me a bottle and sf4, I'll pass on the pong.
pochacco
I'm from Northern California (the bay area), and yes we play beer pong.
moot11
Must be a colloquial/regional term, because we call it beirut.
pauls

Isn't beer pong the one that is played with paddles, though? Are these terms interchangeable?
Tuxedomask
In beer pong theres no such thing as a come back lol...unless you get lucky...
Meenuh
I'm from Los Angeles and played beer pong. Only while I was pledging though...seems more like a sorority/frat thing here because I don't think a lot of my friends know what it is... Personally, it seems pretty dirty throwing ping pong balls that have fallen all over the ground into cups of beer. All they do to clean them off is throw them in a bowl or cup of water. mellow.gif
derrek
I lost horribly at it one night and got uber drunksauce
laris
i play pong like any other sport, competitively & i'm from the east coast

I've never seen beer pong played with paddles. You just toss your pong ball into the cup.

Unprotected beer pong play is the cause of a significant increase in the transmission of herpes simplex virus-1 (HSV-1), which causes cold sores. According to the Center for Disease Control, reports of the virus are up 230-percent from 2007 in people ages 17 to 21, and it’s all from sharing cups. Because of the dramatic increase in the illness, universities and parents are beginning to take notice.

From Bannedinhollywood.com:

“This epidemic is something we should pay close attention to. We’re aware that we cannot outright prevent [beer pong], so we have provided new red cups available to all students in the dorms,” said President of Arizona State University, Michael M. Crow.

And you can always play a different game. According to CDC spokesman, Dr. Cole Desorio, “Flip cup is great because each individual has their own cup. If it’s absolutely necessary to play beer pong, use the waterfall method. Many young adults, when asked if they practice safe pong, responded that they rinse the ball after it bounces off the table.”

First of all, it’s awesome that a doctor at the CDC knows what “waterfall” means. Second, how f**king dumb do you have to be to think that washing off the ball is going to make a herpes-lick of difference when it comes to spreading diseases from one person to the next. C’mon people, you’re smarter than that! You know, or not…

From Sacramento, and we've been playing a few times a month. However, when I was in Kansas, that was our day to day thing.

Beer pong is usually the most important part of all the parties I throw at my place and probably at every place I go to. We even have a dedicated table for it at our place lol.

there's a school sponsored beerless beirut tournament for a charity event.

As my friend once said, "When asked what my greatest strengths were, I replied, "Do you have a cup and a ping pong ball?"."
lhaena

THEPROCRASTINATOR

flyaway
people play beer pong all the time here (at least at stanford)

isn't it actually called beiruit? i believe actual beer pong is when you use paddles...but people just use beer pong to describe beiruit anyway

it's pretty fun imo. lol nothing to do around here

personally i think flip cup is more fun, except when your competitive teammates tip up your cup to make you chug faster and the beer gets all over you...ugh
