I think I'm just happy I'm almost done with my engineering major (just bachelor's)....one more quarter till I graduate. And then of course, with the way the professional engineering life is, got to go for my Masters afterwards...so I can eventually get my PE. :x So yay, another 1-2 years. -___-;
btw, Civil Engineering here~

Mechanical & Aerospace freshmen here x3
There was apparently a noticed in the Engineering Quad last year that said "MAE Majors: Do NOT launch rockets from the quad".
Finding an internship is going to be pretty hard though, since I live in America but I'm not an American citizen =/

hi im a mechanical engineering student.
im still confused if i should shift to another course or not. sad to say, i already failed few subjects. im turning 3rd year nex sem. but im already enjoying it now. im just worried that when i graduated, i'll have a hard time finding a job because of my failures.
btw, we are currently four girls among 60 students in our batch. many boys! hahaha

Hey!
I'm going to be a freshman next year at UC Berkeley majoring in Civil Engineering. I'm so excited (let's hope this excitement remains!)! I'm interested in focusing my major in a structural emphasis or project management, but that might change in life depending on what I find interesting. So hard to find engineering majors here!

i'm going to be a junior next year in civil engineering
classes have become really hard but i really enjoy the fact that we'll be solving all these different types of problems in the world, its tough but i think if you stick it out it will be worth it but its nothing like hs no matter how well you did in it...it's designed to make most of you fail

last semester as electrical engineering major. i'm done with my thesis antennas and SAW devices. i'm happy about my choice as EE until i saw a hovercraft that a few mmae students built for their senior design.
a hovercraft! that was amazing and i was so jealous i didn't get to build something cool like that.
oh well. ee has its fun (when stuff works) and depressing (when stuff won't work) days. but overall, i'm happy with my choice overall and learned tremendously along the way.

Chem E here. For the most part I would have to say my course work is a lot heavier compared to my bf's and he's a Junior HR major. I just completed my first year and this is basically what I took:
Calc II, Calc III, Diff Eq, Chem I & II, Physics I & II, Cultural Theory, MATLAB, and two other courses that are specific to my university's curriculum. On average I put in anywhere from 15-18 hours a week just devoted to work and I still got slaughtered really bad second semester of physics. I don't test well, so it takes a lot more effort for me to maintain my GPA.
right now I'm waiting to see if I got accepted to SKKU for a semester abroad.

Almost finished with my first semester. I love it, although it's hard with al lot of math and physics

But hey, my majors were biology and chemistry in High School (the schooling system in Denmark is different than the US. You choose your major already during High School and let me tell you it's pretty hard)

Bio/Biomedical Engineering here... hmmm I'm a junior and I'm currently liking it and it is tough, considering that you need to memorize the pathological functions of the body while applying Mathematical and Physical calculations on top of it which includes both Mechanical and Electrical Engineering... Good thing about this major is that you can become a doctor or a researcher once you've reached Graduate school!! WOOT!!
My current research is Continuum Mechanics in the Vascular system...

It's great that you actually enjoy doing it. Maybe you can just continue and not change your course? I'm sure you've gone through a lot for the first two years. As long as you're enjoying it, failed a few subjects won't let you down (:
I have a friend who's currently doing mechanical too. And her class is like six/seven girls too. Majority are boys.

Here in the United States, this would be somewhat similar to Industrial Engineering and Operations Research, which is all about making systems more efficient (i.e. how to make sure products are going out to the market in a reasonable manner while making sure your firm is using all its resources efficiently).

Haha I have a multivar quiz tomorrow which I've decided to skip, since I haven't found the time to even open the text book yet =/
But I'm pretty sure it's going to be on numerical approx. methods which is even worse because it isn't even in the text book. But I guess with that you can sort of use your logic but I've got too much work from other courses to catch up with and the quiz is only worth 2.5 percent so meh.
Yeah this is pretty much my engineering life. Trying to find all sorts of excuses to exempt my absences from lectures/tuts so I don't feel too guilty about it

lol from what i know civil engineering is the easier one. engineering, it's just the classes are tough. If you really want to major in engineering just beware you're going to have to work hard if you want good grades. You will be fine if you're determined to do it.

Engineering is hard work, but if you enjoy learning and problem solving, you will be fine. I've nearly finished my first year, and at my uni, first year is mainly just maths, physics and chemistry. We'll get into more civil engineering related subjects next year, which are like structural mechanics, concrete analysis (yawn), soil analysis etc.
If you're worried about the physics, there's tutors who can help you. (also, you can cover 5 chapters in less than a month for some physics-related courses.)

engineering..i'm planning to take up mechatronics but are the job opportunities well for this branch?
i'm still deciding and i would like to go in engineering despite how i suck at maths and physics..
i like it very much when you get to build/make stuff
can anyone tell me which engineering branch involves alot of practical work?
