Basically what the topic title says, when do you think it is too old to go clubbing?
I don't go as much as I used too, but whenever I am clubbing I mostly see younger people than people nearing their 30's.
So, do you guys still go, and how old are you?
G4nismo
ehh, not much of a clubber. can't dance either. rather go to a bar and drink...
THEPROCRASTINATOR
No i haven't club since last spring 08... april?
haha... I'm not much of a dancer and I'm usually sitting down when I go so....
no clubbing for me.
btw, i'm 21
pauls
I rarely go, but i went to this korean club in ktown for my friends b day.
Most females looks to be under 20yrs.. all those fake ids.

I rather go to bar and chill.

Im turning 24.

HERMIT
From personal experience, I've found that if your age is greater than your waist size, you should give up going to clubs.
But I've been in denial so I've subconsciously allowed my waist size to keep up.
Which, in any event, still means that I should give up going to clubs. mellow.gif

I used to go a couple times a month back when I was 19/20-ish (essentially when I was first legal). Now I very rarely go... found that the crowd is still around that age (19/20) and I feel too old! I mainly go to bars and lounges instead.

I'm turning 23 this year.
xorgasmxmachinex
I know this 31 yr old guy who clubs A LOT! He went to Miami for a week and all he did was party.

I say: When you feel like settling down, I think it is time to cool down.

I still go since I'm only 20.
CharlotteDarcy
as long as you're still smoking hot and single, it's alright to go. Haha. that's my opinion.

Does George Clooney go clubbing?
taiji.
i just turned 24 a couple of months ago. i grew out of the whole drinking/partying/clubbing phase. now that i look back, i've changed a lot.. when i was like 21-22, i used to be so into drinking/clubbing to the point that it was severely affecting my academic performance but it's not the same for me any more. i do have a few drinks once in a while just to chill but never to the point i get drunk, throw up, and wake up next to a stranger in my bed. (j/k about the last one tongue.gif) i actually just got invited to a kick back drinking about an hour ago from my old suitemate from college. i haven't drank in ages. smile.gif
jesus.shuttlesworth
as long as you're not over 30 with kids
blue_shoe
I want to go...but there's always a bunch of kids it's annoying...esp hs kids who think I'm younger than them.

it's like "honnie, please I don't want to get file of child molestation"
kandi
not that type of person and im still only 20.
but yeh when ur tired of it - i guess like once you're settled down with a family. so maybe ~28-30+
j00n
30 you're too old. You should be going to luxury booking clubs. smile.gif
[HyuNi]
haha I haven't gone since May of '07
Not particularly a fan of it either.

I'm actually going next week for a friend's b-day and I'm a bit apprehensive and curious at the same time.
Not much of a clubbing type of person, but I think it's been long enough since I've left my brain at home and made an embarrassment out of myself. I don't try to dance well because I know I can't. So instead of people laughing at me, I do funny moves like the carlton, MC hammer, sprinkler, shopping cart moves so people laugh with me. haha

I think it's a double standard though. It seems like girls can go clubbing no matter what their age, but if guys go when they're near their mid 20's they're considered one of those 'creepy guys'. haha

I remember my last clubbing experience though. It was after a wedding and everyone came in ballin' tuxedos and dresses. It was so much fun. The bride's parents came too and my friend and I drank with the father of the bride and got him PISSED drunk! We had to carry him back to his hotel room. haha
chiyo
there is no "TOO OLD".

i think everyone has his interests. as long as you think it's fun, then you're not too old.
also it depends on the place you go clubbing and how often you do it and how well you can
manage it with your everyday schedule.

i don't think i'd like to hang up with a bunch of 17 year olds at some kiddy club when i'm 35.
but i think it'd have lots of fun at a nice club tailed at more mature folks.

also as i'm in my early twenties, i'd feel totally out of place at 30+ events. so it's just a
matter where you go... smile.gif
YUNA!
I still see late-20's to early 30's guys in clubs.
When I first turned 19 (which feels like centuries ago) I went quite a few many times. It's fun going with a boyfriend, but it could be suffocating as he just hogs you and you see your girls having fun...haa! ~

However, now that I'm older, I'm feeling like I should settle and get out of the crowd... though I DO still go, but not as much. Ahahaha. It sucks when younger guys come and flirt with you because they think youre a young one, not knowing you're mid-20's. sad.gif.
mekka
You are never too old to go clubbing, there are clubs out there for all ages, you are as old as you feel. ROCK ON!!!!!!!
Pogichinoy
I've been clubbing since I was 18 (legal age in Oz land) and still do, although I do feel old being out there. I still see older people tho, ho ho ho, for me though, I'd say once you hit 30, quit the clubs and go to a lounge.
Temoin la Nuit
When I stopped going clubbing, I felt pretty old.. haha.. had been clubbing hardcore for a good couple years since it's easier to get into clubs in Canada than in the US.

I guess the "too old" age is around 30 for guys? But if you've been going two-three times a week for a few years.. you'll burn out and get bored of it anyways. Then it might be worthwhile to settle down.

It must be harder for gals to go in late 20s, though. I mean, if you're 28, and getting hit on by 18 boys, that's kinda weird, isn't it?..
Ms.Delusional
It is too old to go clubbing once your younger sibling (like 4 or 5 years younger) start going to the same club as you. THEN GET THE HECK OUT!! lol

Hahahah it's true. A lot of the girls there are underage. sleep.gif I've never been to a club in ktown before even though I live here, but I know a lot of girls that do and they're all young.

I don't go clubbing. I've been clubbing like ..4 or 5 times in my life. Probably less than that. I'd rather just go hang out somewhere than go clubbing where it's loud and sweaty. sleep.gif
i_4got
This question is a bit weird for me because I feel that the majority of people who go "clubbing" nowadays don't belong in the club. I see underage little girls grinding, and nasty couples getting drunk and sloppy with each other. Gadaaammmit, I just wanna dance, people! mellow.gif

when your walker gets in people's way on the dance floor. (not Johnny Walker either)

I'm 20.
When there are guys 30+ just standing around staring... yeah. It's a little uncomfortable.
EMPORIO
Solid 29 I think for guys, then again if you still look young and got that money then hell as long as you get girls in the club, then your never too old.

I do think though that if you like 29+ and not getting that VIP treatment it's kinda sad.

When you have a child to take care of... or at 32+ Face it, it's time to settle down... move to the bars. cool.gif

that would be for WMC, which is pretty much *the* event to go to if you're involved in any aspect of the dance music industry.

i still go to clubs, lounges, bars, etc and don't see an end to it in the near future. although my situation may be different than most people on here since most of my friends are DJs, promoters, producers, etc. clubs/lounges are the main places we see each other out.

i really don't get any of the comments on here saying if you've reached a certain age, you should stop going. if you're going for the music and friends who the hell is anyone else to judge? but again, as i said before, my situation is probably completely different than anyone else's on this board.

Clubbing is known as a youth event, only reason I see being old and still go clubbing is if you're a security or holding a police dog. I see as you get older, lounges would suit more of the elderly. tongue.gif jkjkjkjk
dafleur
^
actually, lounges are becoming (have already become?) the norm in most cities, totally outshining 'traditional' nightclub venues. the heyday of the super-club such as crobar, twilo, space, limelight were the late 90s/early2000s. nowadays, it's risky for promoters to bring in big names and host it at a larger venue, because it will ultimately cost them money and filling a bigger space is more difficult, for obvious reasons. it's not unusual to go a 500 person space to see soulwax or a 200 person space to hear adam f. the economy is taking a tumble and the nightlife industry is not immune.

ironically though, the number of upscale venues has skyrocketed recently. places with steep cover charges, drink prices, dress codes, table minimums, etc. now seem to be the norm and the most popular places to go. a friend that owns a "premium/luxe/ultra" (watever you wanna call it) lounge has said that he isn't worried the higher end places will be affected much by the current recession... their target clientle, those who make 150K+/yr, can still afford a $20 cover and a $500table min. well, we will see how long that lasts...
je_amourx
I've seen people who are in their 30s and quite possibly 40s who are still up in the club dancing away .....

Personally, I think late 20s should be the end of club days. I've never been too found of clubbing anyways, so maybe I am OLD?! o.O

I know of this one guy that decided he was getting too old to go clubbing when he realized that he was starting to pack Viagra along with his Rohypnol when he went out. mellow.gif

wow, I must be more mature than my age.
I did that since I was 21 and I'm only 24 now laugh.gif
I can't help it... I suck at dancing and I go like once every 2 years. haha

I'm a bit apprehensive, but excited to go this weekend. The group I'm going with is always a fun crowd and it's the first time we've gone to a club together, but I'm a bit worried because I feel like I'm going to get smashed due to the atmostphere. (I haven't had more than 2 drinks at a time in over a year)

Whatever. I'm going to leave my brain at home and have fun doing stupid dance moves.
screw self-consciousness~ haha I only go once in a blue moon tongue.gif

Am at my early 20s and I still go sometimes if the musics good and I just want to dance. For me clubs aren't places to find guys or drink behave like crazy, I just like to dance and hang with friends.
I really don't think there is a certain age when going tp clubs is looked bad upon, even my mom has still gone and she's in her 40s (but she still looks really good). I actually think positively about older people who go to clubs, its good to see them still have fun and the courage. As long as you want to and don't feel out of place then clubs can be fun.
SnowApple
I don't think there's a definitive age, but when the majority of the crowd starts being 4-5 years younger than you, you know it's time to change the landscape. Doesn't mean don't party at all, just means change your club choices.

As for me, I'm pretty indifferent with clubbing now. I'll go on special occassions, like New Years or birthdays, but I don't have the urge to go every weekend like some crazy folks. That could be because I've been going since I was 14, which is... a tad longer history than most. Hey, I always looked older, I used it to my advantage. biggrin.gif

thyun
if you're just going to dance, then there is no age cap. but, who goes for the dancing?! that's just a ploy, at least for the guys.

saddest statement in this thread, but unfortunately it seems to be true with those who have the "oh-yay-i-just-turned-21-lets-paaaaaaaaaartay!" mindset. this type of crowd is THE MOST annoying to those actually involved with the nightlife industry. if you're going out just to pickup, stay at the bars.
JJM
Yes... at 30... everyone should just die. biggrin.gif

I have friends who club at least 2-3 times a month and they're hitting their mid-30's. It's still fun. Dancing is dancing. As long as there are no children left at home without a sitter, no problem. What annoys me are people who have kids and they go out 3-4 times a week. Maybe they should have remembered to practice planned parenthood as well as practicing how to not fall out of a cage filled to the hilt with half-naked girls.

It depends on the club. I don't like going to the hip-hop clubs anymore, but the really nice ones ($30+ entrance fee) are mainly devoid of underage teens and really sloppy people. Thoooose can still be a ball.

MissLadyBunny
That's a good question cause I know people who are 38 and go to hip hop clubs. I mean I don't see anything wrong with that if grandma wants to go out dancing get herself a young buck for the night that is cool. As long the pimp game is strong why not. Older people need to let loose just like young people need to. wink.gif
damyoungji
I have never gone clubbing before. I hope I can go sometime this year.

I guess someone is too old to go clubbing when they are attached with kids? Or stick to their clubs with people of their own age ^^;
belend52
thats a tricky one. No i dont go any more. down the pub or out is prob more my thing now...lived my wild years. I think it depends on if you attached etc.....i think a lot of older peopl tend to go because they feel they may have missed out when they were younger. It is weird to see people past the age of 30 in a club.

I ended up going out on Friday and Saturday. haha
I wasn't planning on it, but I had lunch with a friend when I went downtown to get some exercise on my bike and convinced to go out for her cousin's birthday. I had a ton of fun that night. I met a whole bunch of her cousin's friends and even bought a random girl a drink at the bar. haha I gave her my number and she ended up calling me back the same night from her friend's phone cuz she said she left her's at home. To be honest, I wasn't really interested, but my buddies, who all have s/o's were pushing me to hit on girls, so I picked out a girl in the crowd and went after her. I hope she doesn't call back ph34r.gif sweatingbullets.gif

Saturday night was my friend's birthday party. We went out for dinner and was planning to pregame at a friend's place, but we decided to go straight to the club for open bar from 10 - 12. It was EMPTY! hahahaha I ended up getting really disguistingly packed after midnight and I prefered it when it was just us. It was like it was our own little party. haha But another good night. Met new people, did stupid dance moves like the sprinkler, shopping cart, waltz to dance music, etc. haha

All in all, it was a fun but really tiring weekend. I feel like I aged 10 years afterwards. Definately reminded me why I don't go out often. It's fun, but in my opinion overrated. tongue.gif

I don't think you can be too old to go clubbing.. As long as your legs are moving and your hearing aid is working, it's all good! tongue.gif

As for me, I've been going clubbing for a long time (courtesy of friends' i.d. when I was younger) Lately, when friends call and ask me to go clubbing/bar hopping, I usually decline. As much as I miss going drinking with my friends and dancing at clubs, it's just not my scene anymore. I guess I just got tired of it. I'd rather stay home and catch a basketball game or an episode of Family Guy.. tongue.gif

Mmm, I don't think there is a specific age.
I personally think you're too old to go clubbing once you have a kid.
Whether you're a female or male.
Think about what your kid will think if you went clubbing. That's just weird.
You have other responsibilities to take care of and you shouldn't be wasting time at the club.
badstar
Last time I went inside a club was when I was 18yrs old which was 4 years ago.
I'm not really into the "club scene". I dunno, I just think that clubs are too noisy for me and people are too wild.
I smoke but I don't want to die of suffocation inside a club! haha!
I just go to house parties and bars.
