I'm a
HUGE fan (to say the least) of all things iPhone so i thought i would create a topic to consolidate all conversations involving the iPhone whether it's rumors, specs, or Q&A. It's no doubt that the iPhone has revolutionized the US cell phone market far beyond expectations. I will update this first page with iPhone news that i think ya'll should see!

I don't have the iPhone but I'm thinking about getting one. Not the 3G one, but the next one that will be released in June.
AT&T is upgrading their networks just for the iPhone:

and what are the cons to jailbreaking ?

Design, ease of use, and plenty of apps.
They're the market leaders and the next iPhone will set the standard again. The competition is just catching up to the iPhone 3G but the next iPhone will widen the gap. Or at least that's what I see.
Cons of jailbreaking is that you could fubar your iPhone and the warranty would be void.

I wish I should've waited to get mine when the new one releases in June. I've always wanted to jailbreak my iPhone but have been too scared that I'll mess up.
I'm glad to see improvements but wish it didn't take so long to wait for the process.

Sorry but this is inaccurate. You can always reset your iPhone if Jailbreaking does not work. It will not just become a dead paperweight just due to Jailbreaking. Also note, Jailbreaking
does not void your warranty.

So if I jailbreak an iPhone and get stuck and go to my Apple store, they'll fix it for me?
And you can ALWAYS reset the iPhone?

appearance of the new iphone?
From the 2g to 3g they changed the back
do you think they'll change it again lol?
Don't know if it's worth it to wait for the new one in june or just
get the 3g out now.

There is actually an application for that but the cost of it is like $4.99. It's called mbox Mail. Apple and Microsoft are competitors but with that app, I'm guessing you can sync your hotmail directly to it. I haven't tried it. I just use gmail and have or change all my hot mail to my gmail.
Other then that I think you can jail break it, I'm not sure or you can google up for ways to get your hotmail to your iphone.

Just have hotmail forward your mail to a gmail account, then push it to your iphone.

Normally with services such as Hotmail, etc. you could set up email using the Apple Mail program on your iPhone through IMAP. But Hotmail specifically blocks this because they want you to sign up for a Hotmail PLUS subscription. If you try it you get this:

A Windows Live Hotmail Plus subscription is required.

Southern California-- Orange County... my call quality is superb.
I haven't had a single dropped call, and my reception is really good.
In terms of the clarity of the person on the other end, it's pretty legit and I rarely have any problems with my calls (quality-wise).
All the more reasons to love my iphone-- besides Korean texting and the apps XD.

Hi guys, i have a question..
So I'm on AT&T right now and they told me that I'm eligible for an upgrade on July 1st. By then, the new iphone will be announced and everything so I will most likely buy it. However, I was wondering if anybody has any idea if the cost would stay the same? Right now, i believe the 8gig is $199 with a new contract (which would apply to me)
thanks

A few questions
1) Once you sign up with AT&T, can you change different aspects of your plan? I'm a light texter, but I don't know if 200txt/month is going to cut it. So can I sign up for the $5 text plan and if it doesn't work out, upgrade to the $15 plan? And does this include IM or not?
2) Anybody know what service is like in NYC? I hear it isn't the best.
3) What cases and batteries do you guys like?
4) I think my credit might be not the best, what kind of deposit am I looking at?
5) Anybody with a work discount? How does that work out? I've been told all I have to do is go to the AT&T store with my badge and I get the discount. I've heard it's 15% off- is it off the entire bill, just data, what?
Anybody getting the 3GS? I am

I am anticipating getting the GS too. I have been wanting an iphone for a long time now and I don't know what is keeping me from buying one. I think since a new version came out, I should finally buy it!
^Thinktwice, you don't have to sign up for a texting plan at all if you want. You can change it whenever you want too, and it'll take effect on your next billing cycle. It does include IMing and other chat clients, so watch out for that if you IM a lot.
I got the work discount too

Starbucks Corp. discount! When I signed up at the store, I told her I worked at Starbucks and she signed me up for it immediately. I guess if you have the badge, show it to them and they'll do the rest. I think I showed her my name badge as well, i'm not sure. I got I think a 15% discount. And it's the entire monthly bill

Not too sure about the GS though, we'll see.

i just got my iphone about 2 months ago and prior to that like the past 4 years i was a huge anti-apple fan. You may remember me pushing creative products back in the day. But my love for apple sprung out of necessity. I needed a new mp3 player (my creative died on me), i wanted to use Nike+, and the ipod nano 3g looked super cute. So i bought my nano, fell in love with it and than the touch 2g rolled out. And yes ever since than i've been hooked on apple products.
History aside, i love my iphone. It makes life more convenient, super easy to use and its just plain awesome. Does it have its flaws? yes, the camera (3g) is lacking, you cant picture message and baning out texts while holding it vertical is kind of difficult. But does it make up for it? yes, the auto correct function is awesome, seamless music playing, web browsing is immaculate, and the apps are incredible (ifart, not withstanding)
Needless to say i can't wait for OS 3.0 to come out (3 more days) and with that new OS everyone of the 3g's flaws might be remedied. Ability to type in landscape mode, copying and pasting, picture messaging; everything is fixed! would i upgrade to the 3gs? if money was no object, yes i would. However being strapped for cash the minor upgrades to the 3gs arent really that important to me.
All in all, i am one happy iphone user. The iphone even convinced me to get that new 13 inch macbook pro.
Oh, and as far chaging your plans, its really quite easy. Cause like you i had 200 texts and that was on a family plan...so when you think about over 2 phones thats only 50 incoming and outgoing texts. I changed my texting to unlimited like halfway through the first month with no problem. Just go dwn to your local at&t store and they'll change it.
Peace!
P.S. if you want to save your money and keep the iphone out of your mind. Don't buy a touch. Seriously, that thing is a gateway drug.

you cant use the songs you drag into your iphone as ringtones. they have to be a special format, i believe. i dont know the exact one but i go to audiko.net and it does the work for me. i just decide where i want the ringtone to start and for how long.

so youre saying you bought an iphone 3g online, but you have a pre-existing phone plan with at&t? i think you'll need an iphone exclusive plan, but i'm not sure. Because at&t is "encouraging" consumers who usethe iphone as pay-as-you-go to get a standard plan.

pay as you go???huh no like a regular phone plan. I'm going to switch to at&t but
I was wondering if "regular" texting plans would work on an iphone, cause I don't
want to pay for their iphone texting. For those thinking huh iphone texting and
regular texting is the same price it's because if i registered in at&t with an iphone
they'd make me pay for a data plan, but I'm good with wifi.
