Hello!
Part of my herritage is Dutch! Yay!
I was wondering, if any of you have some from of Dutch or German herritage, to share the foods that you've eaten!
I think it would be fun!~
Here are my foods:
.Dutch Salad (every christmas....yuuuuuuum!)
.Lungavingers with Peanut Butter (disgusting sounding, but REALLY delisious!)
. Dutch Trifle
. Tea Style Almond Ginger Biscuts (i could eat 12 packets of these!)
So what have YOU eaten!?

You're forgetting the 'Bitterballen' and the 'Kroketten' XDDD
Stampot can be pretty good though; at least how my mom and dad make it, not that i eat it every day or anything ._.

Anyway, one thing I remember is Patat Oorlog- I tried it one time and it was..interesting I would say xD
Oh and also Vanilla- and Choco-Fla (Vla?) is so good (: We used to drink that during or Dutch classes

Friet omg, I can't get enough of it!, but not too much, I don't want to get fat now! xD
Broodje Kroket YUM!
Or gehaktballetjes/Boerenkool are good too.
I'm asian, but I tend to eat alot of Dutchfood! while I should be eating the Vietnamese food! XD
My mother use to always yell me for stuff like that, she ask me stuff like: "Did I raised you a Vietnamese boy? or a dutch boy!" so lame lol.
But w/e, I like both types of food <3

I have family in Holland..but never been there.
I ate something with my little niece brought with her that I guess was Holland-ish.
It's like chocolate shavings? (in a blue box I think) and you put it on toast and butter.
Haha that was pretty damn good! No wonder my 2 year old niece loves it. lol

I advice everyone who isn't dutch and reading this topic to get some 'Stroopwafels' if they come to Holland XD
STROOPWAFELS ALL THE WAY THROUGH!
If i'd try to translate it too english it would be"
"Syrup Waffles"
XD

A Moorkop, (See one of my earlier posts, i mentioned the "Moorkoppen.")
Its filled with whipped cream and as you can see, it has chocolate, whipped cream and it often has a piece of fruit on top. 8D

And these things are the 'Slagroomsoesjes', filled with whipped cream and they have powdered sugar on them.

We call these things 'Beschuit met muisjes'
They are usually eaten when a baby is born, blue stands for a boy and pink obviously for a girl. n_n

Okay here's the last one, i'm getting freaking hungry out here, it's 1:34 a.m. here XD
This is a 'Kaassouflé' , and yeah... its filled with cheese, can't describe it.
So if you ever come to holland, at least try one of these treats next to the Cheese, Stroopwafels, Bitterballen, Kroketten, Patatje Oorlog, Tompoucen and all those stuff XD. Damn we have strange food 8D!

I spent three nights in Amsterdam last week and found a couple of places (probably not very Dutch haha) which I really really enjoyed...
De Bakkerswinkel, was so good we went there three times and bought some a couple of jars of their jam.

The apple pie was impressive! as were the variety of jams on offer...

The interior...

Another favourite spot was
The Pancake Bakery, though unfortunately couldn't try any as I have a wheat intolerance...
Poffertjes

what I had to settle for...
Burgermeester, where I had to settle for a burger without a bun...

and a side portion of baked potato and creme fraiche

Also went to
De Zotte where they had a wide range of Belgium beer and some local snacks?

fries (or as we call it chips) and mayonaise... mmm...

Lastly this kinda reminded me of Tokyo...

My mistake it was
The Pancake Bakery. They have a website,
http://www.pancake.nl/ My friend who's a local recommended it to us. Apparently their hot chocolate with baileys and cream is meant to be really good too ! Seemed popular with both tourists and locals, which is a good sign I guess

And they've got like, a whole isle dedicated to diferent brands of Stroopwafels!!
I have to try some of their other stuff too. There's alot there that i havn't heard about before, so i'm egar to go buy stuff from them to try it!

Should I run over to the store now and buy some Stroopwafels?
mmmm... hungry...
Some more pics and info;
Poffertjes:

Miniature pancakes with LOTS AND LOTS of powder sugar and a piece of butter.
It's sooooooooooooo delicious. My parents used to take me to a pancakehouse where
they served the best poffertjes i could imagine, i still go there sometimes lololol.
Oliebollen:

No one posted a pic of them yet! I have no idea how to describe it but its mainly just
a little ball of dough (or how my mom likes to call it, pancake batter but thicker)
which is deep fried and with powder sugar on top of it. Some of them have raisins inside
but i prefer them without. It's like the official snack of 'New Year's Eve' but lots of people also eat 'm before
new years eve of course because they're too damn good
. We even have special stands for
them, they appear during the winter around october and stay until january. Some of them stay the whole year.
Zeeuwse Bolus

They are also made of bread dough with alotttttttttt of syrup,
sugar and some cinnamon on top of it. They make me kinda nauseous
after i ate one.
Bossche bollen

They are like the moorkoppen and roomsoesjes we mentioned but covered in chocolate.
Veryyyyyyyyyyyy tasty.
Pepernoten

Ahhhhh... every dutch person loves pepernoten, if i'd translate them it would
be 'pepper nuts' lolmao. Okay explanation; we have a holiday in holland called
Sinterklaas. It's like a 'child's day' , every (little) boy or girl puts their shoe on the night
of december 4th in front of the fireplace and finds a present in it the next morning.
Sinterklaas is like Santa, but different. Kids also put a carrot in their shoe for Sinterklaas'
horse XD. Ahhh the good old days, but when you turn 11/12 your parents tell you that
Sinterklaas doesn't excist... because they're actually 'Sinterklaas' and putting those presents
in your shoes. And from that day on you wont get any presents anymore. Damn it!
It wa always my fav holiday... T_T I wish Sinterklaas still visited me, but i'm too old..
Anyway, during Sinterklaas we eat pepernoten, i could explain what they are but i can't.
Cuz it's kinda hard, just believe me; they are soooooooo delicious!
Taai Taai

I never ate it, or maybe once but i didn't really like it. We also eat
these things during Sinterklaas.
So these are kinda our other sweet stuff 8D.
If you want more, just scream and i'll post a crapload of other things
.
