I was trying to look for a recommendation topic, but I couldnt find one and so I made this...
anyways, I'm on the lookout for more visual kei bands, I only recently started getting into them.
I've only listened to Alice Nine and Gazette so far, but I'm sure there are heaps out there! so please post some recommendations =]

X Japan. they are the ones who started visual key stuff ( i think). their stuff are awesome too ^^
Miyavi is awesome but he is not visual key, like he said it he was influenced by it
hm you have dir en grey
i also like Luna sea but i think they are just rock, not really visual key lol
here are some Jrock bands (not all are visual key) : glay,L'Arc~en~Ciel, Versailles, Gackt (one of my fav <3),SUG (id say they are more pop lol), an cafe (more popish as well), plastic tree, D'espairs Ray, Exist trace,.....
Im personally a huge fan of Miyavi, gackt, X Japan and Luna sea... Im too lazy to check other bands bcoz they are way too many bands in japan

It really depends on your taste. Could you be more specific as in what music genres you like?

Visual Kei:
12012
D'espairs ray
Phantasmagoria
Girugamesh
Panic Channel
Dir en grey
everything everyone's already mentioned
If you're more into oshare kei (the light happy stuff), then check out:
An Cafe
Duel Jewel
Charlotte
Lolita23q
Shelly Trip Realize/TINC (disbanded, but their songs are so much fun)
Aile
PANIC*ch (Panic Channel's oshare alter ego)
I suggest looking around Youtube for pvs if you haven't already. Definitely a big help and introduced me to a lot of good bands. Anybody know anyother good places to find pvs/info?

hmmm well it really doesnt matter. i mean, i guess i have a really diverse taste in music.
visual kei is kinda new for me though, so i'm really just trying to find the main bands, what other ppl like listening to, etc.
does that make sense?

^ as in what's currently popular? (since X and Malice Mizer are like super old school. XD)
I'd go find scans of the vkei magazines like Shoxx, Cure, H'evn and check out the bigger articles since those are usually on the more popular/major label bands.
haha, and to add to all the suggestions, Plastic Tree. although they;re not that visual now. ;D
and Psycho le Cemu, but they "disbanded" a couple years ago.

I'm glad people have mentioned Versailles.
If you have trouble finding them (you shouldn't at youtube, at least), they're also known as Versailles Philharmonic Quintet--they had to change their name because of another artist claiming she was the original Versailles (a fan contest got them the new one). -__-

i like vistlip but they haven't even come out with an album yet? they only realeased two mini-albums and three singles.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Visual_kei_artistsas far as visual kei bands, my favorites:
- alice nine
- the gazzette
- an cafe (but they are oshare kei)
other VK I would recommend:

- Duel Jewel
- Vidoll
- Versailles
- 12012
- Panic Channel
you can also listen to the bands that started the VK movement:
- X Japan
- D'erlanger
