Hm. Maybe I should get all up in my parent's faces early. See if it's possible to go to Korea for his tour (read: odds? about a billion to one. there's still a fighting chance). Maybe this time 'round he'll do a US tour. That would be... so very lovely...

Call me a pessimist, but I'm never counting on a US tour. The most likely scenario being a one-time concert in LA or maybe NY but that's it. =/
I'd want a NY concert because I'm far east coast, and if it were LA, I don't know how realistic it would be for me to go. Myself and my family would have to save up for a long time, and I don't even think they'd think it'd be worth it. On top of that, there are other things in the way as well. So I think it's safe to say my chances of going to Korea to see him are at 0%, unless I strike gold in the near future. And ever seeing him at all in my lifetime is looking pretty unlikely, but here's hoping.

Reading that depressed me to the max.

Mostly because I'm in the same boat. Probably never gonna end up seeing my favourite artist live.
Except I'm in Chicago. Smack dab in between the two coasts... And the two coasts are the only places any Asian artists ever go. Ever.

[Seo Taiji To Release New Album]
According to a music official in Japan, singer Seo Taiji, who currently resides near Harajuku, has been meeting with local indie bands and discussing potential collaborations.
Seo Taiji has been living in Japan since 2000 but has been coming back often to work on his music. His last album was released in January of 2004 and fans have been enthusiastically awaiting his 8th album, which has been postponed since last year.
Some speculate that Seo will release a new album by the end of the year, but an official said that nothing is certain.

Hmm. J-indies, aye?
>_o
Whatever, in my opinion, Taiji hasn't really made a bad decision in his near 20 year old career, so he could do a collaboration album with Michael Bolton and I'll still be one of the first to pre-order it.
(No offense to any of you who like J-rock & Indie. I'm not a fan.)
a4sano
Mar 26 2007, 03:03 PM
Is he really collaborating with J Indie bands? Collaborating as in they will be singing on the album or just arranging some songs on the album? I know he had some japanese guy arrange the strings on Zero. As long as it isn't any visual kei bands I'm alright with it.
dekadoggy
Mar 28 2007, 11:22 PM
Taiji is a huge supporter of the indie scene so it comes off as no surprise.
But I'm curious as to which bands he's been meeting with.
I don't think it's to collaborate on an album though.
Probably to tour with him or attend etpfest or something like that.
Who knows. But this news is killer.

Taiji's releasing his 8th album in December, right?
Gosh--I'm so excited!
--Btw, what album from Seo Taiji do you guys recommend as one of his best?
Malice_Kaiser
Apr 3 2007, 07:38 PM
^ December? As far as I or anyone else can tell, nothing is really confirmed except "IT'S COMING" (which, actually, has been confirmed for three years now.) *snort*
As far as album recommendations... Hmmm, my opinion? Heh heh. That's hard to say for multiple reasons. ^^;
There are very, very few Seo Taiji songs I even remotely dislike. And every single album of his has at least a few of my favourite songs of his. Thing is, his style is so highly changed from album to album, it's even hard to recommend just one unless you like a certain style and not the other. For example, if I wanted my friend to listen to Seo Taiji and be impressed, I wouldn't let him borrow a single album. I'd give him songs from different albums to sample, y'know?
But uh. Let's see. I really can't call any of his three solo albums a favourite. I just... can't choose. But of the four Seo Taiji & Boys albums, I'd have to say their 3rd album is my favourite. Which sucks because I think my favourite Taiji Boys song is Hayeoga, which is on their 2nd album.

.... Yes, I DO make things more complex than they have to be.
In short, I'm sorry, I can't choose.
HeffyEnd
Apr 3 2007, 08:43 PM
My favorite Taiji album is his first solo album (vol.5) and my favorite Taiji and boys album is vol. 4.
I don't think Taiji would start doing VK stuff. And God I hope he doesn't.

All his stuff is pretty good. I finally listened to his first solo album and it was awesome.
Taiji Boys Vol.1 is my favorite album out of all of them. I like all the solo albums so I really can't choose.
So is the 8th issue coming out in December? Thats a long wait it will be almost a 4 year absence since the 7th Issue came out on Jan. 7

^ Internet War was from his 6th album, sometimes called "Ultraman" or "Ultramania." It's his heaviest, most metal-like ablum. If you liked that song you're bound to like the others, I'm thinking.
My suggestion? Head over to YouTube, look up some live perfs off that album, and if you like what you hear go on to annyoung.com and buy the album. It's only about $15 and it comes with a VCD. Very nice. ^^

Which reminds me, did anyone else notice that annyoung and Yesasia don't sell Seo Taiji and Boys albums anymore? Which is the only reason I'm asking for Hangul because normally I'd just go copy and paste, but apparently Annyoung has caught THE LAME and yeah. That depresses me severely.

Aww. Yeah, I don't have Taiji's 6th album and I can't find it ANYWHERE.

If I remember correctly, there was a short-ish period of time where all (or most) of Taiji boys albums were randomly available on yesasia, that's when I bought them, I think. I actually might've bought one or two on Annyoung..? I forget. Anyway, so maybe the second one will come back in stock sometime.
I got the song title from a lyrics site, but I actually don't know if the link I clicked on for the song was the lyrics or not. There are two entries for the song with different characters, so I don't know which one is the lyrics, if either of them even are.
