I am really shocked when I read the headlines! MJ was such a talented guy and I love his music. Despite all his scandals and financial woes..I really admire Michael for what he contributed to the music scene worldwide. What will happen to his children..oh no

So, so sad. This has been confirmed by the Los Angeles coroner's office.

Though it's sad that he's dead at such a young age, I think it's for the best for him. He wasn't healthy and hasn't been happy in years. Maybe he will be happy in heaven. It's just sad that his family (who I never thought truly loved him and just used him for money) will now profit from his death.

the world truly lost something great today. we won't have the likes of michael jackson in a long long time. he was the original mega-entertainer, before justin timberlake, before zac efron, before any of them. many of us in the arts and entertainment field would be nothing without michael's influence in our lives. i grew up listening to michael jackson. my family would crowd around the laser disc player dancing to his music videos. one of the first instances i've ever danced was to "thriller" and "beat it". people shunned him and his music because of the rumors and the antics, but i never believed the whole paedophile thing. and even if it were true, it wouldn't change the fact that he's made some of the most beautiful, memorable, truly inspiring music in history.

michael, wherever you are, let it be known that i was loyal to the end. rest in peace, and we already miss you.

I heard it in class this evening. When the guy in class mentioned it, I was like, "WHAT?" I mean I knew he was sick, but he was putting on those concerts so I thought he had recovered.

This year has just been so ... full of crap.

I lost my Father-in-Law on June 3, and now, MJ has died. World is just changing.

I know a good portion of people on Soompi didn't necessary grow up during the 80s, but I did. MJ was everything. I had Thriller on 8-Track. I had MJ shirts. I would dance around singing to Michael. I remember where I was when Thriller premiered. It scared me so much, but it was one of the most exciting videos. Revolutionary to dance.

After all the the craziness he has gone through, he can be at peace.

I just hope the media doesn't pervert his passing.

Reading all the reactions, I feel like crying again. I feel so sad right now. Like the person above, I grew up in the 80s,and MJ was always there to bring revolutionnary music and videos. So many contemporary artists wouldn't be here right now without him. To think someone so influential and legendary ceased to exist... I can't process it. I still can't believe it. May you rest in peace, you brought so much to music, you were THE artist of the 20th century. Thank you for everything.

I was stunned when I heard the news this morning.
I mean, he has an upcoming concert and all and now he's gone?
I just find it hard to believe that after what he has gone through, he died just like that. Tsk.
I was never a fan of Michael Jackson but I remember liking some of his songs as a kid and I've always thought of him as a talented and great musician. I feel sorry for him that he had to endure those scandals and public humiliation when he was still alive. >_<

I'm incredibly sad over his loss.
I hate how he ended up being someone people made fun and pointed their fingers at.
He influenced music like no other and for his last years to be of so much controversy and negativity, it just really makes me cry all over again.

People should remember what an extraordinary artist Michael Jackson was and how much he did for music and society.

I hope his soul will finally come to a rest. My thoughts are with his family. His legacy will never be forgotten.
