I'm just wondering how much a month are you spending on gas on average?
Gas here in Canada is expensive, I don't know how much Americans pay but here in TO it's around $0.95/L for regular gas. If 1 gal = 3.78 L then that's about $3.6/gal. I spend about $120/mo on gas.
Gas is about 2.80ish around Los Angeles (not quite IN LA but in the SFV for people who know what I'm talking about). I fill up at around $26 each time about once a month. I don't drive that much right now =x.

We do it by the lire in Canada, so it's about a quart. It's about 1.05 CAD per liter so we pay....4.00 per gallon on regular in USD?

Doesnt make sense either...USA has more demand for gas, so according to economics the gas prices should increase. However because of low taxes (since they don't have to pay for universal healthcare) thats why tehy're cheaper.

You forgot about the supply side.
The US is the #1 user of oil and gas by a long shot.
http://www.treehugger.com/files/2007/07/a_picture_is_wo.phpThe US uses more gas per day than 20 countries combined!
That gives the US more buying (bullying) power because there's actually a lot of oil that can be tapped in the US, but due to environmental issues and other political reasons, it isn't dredged. If push came to shove, the US could start higher production domestically and buy less foreign or actually adequately fund alternative fuel research. Oil is considered a commodity, but there's a LOT more oil on the Earth than people realize. It's not really a scarce commodity. If you think about it, water is more expensive than oil because a 500mL of water sells for around $1 and they sell oil by the barrell for around $70~
I bet that new Chevy Volt that gets 240 miles per gallon has OPEC a bit worried.
Oil is black gold, but only if there's someone willing to buy it.

Here in montreal it fluctuates from 1$ to 1.10$ CAD per liter (regular)
Takes me about 40$ for a full tank, and I'm driving daily, so I guess I spend about 100$ a month on gas, though my car eats about 8L/100 km.
