X and S pretty much has same SQ. X if you want 32 GB go with X but go with S if you don't need 16+.

I love my X, but I find S's navigation much faster for some reason <____>

P.S: X is NOT worth 300-400, you can easily pick up other DAP such as P3 or cowon S9 around 100 dollars cheaper. [grrr gotta love mom's paranoia when it comes to online shopping!]
