I know last season was such a disappointment after such a strong season 4.
I hope Natalie Reid makes it and nathan trasoras. I would love if it Alex Wong is there but Nigel said he didnt audition maybe hes still under contract?
This season the choreographers need to step up and so do the dancers and I dont want the judges to to have postitve praises when these performances arent good.

Hopefully this season will be better than the last one. It was such a disappointment and boring!!
They're starting this season with California.
Did anybody catch the Top 15 dances of all 5 seasons? I only caught the last 3.

Yup i get to watch it.
I thought the list was bullcrap.
How can the cancer perf got 1st and the Lacey and Kameron Contemporary didn't even got in?

The Lacey and Kameron dance is one of my all time favorites but knowing SYCD if it doesn't have some sad storyline or if it doesnt make the judges cry then it will be overlooked which sucks. When I first saw tghe dancing routine I had goosebumps.

wow another season so fast. honestly i was a little disappointed by the results of last season but hopefully this season will even better. does anyone remember that one guy from last season's audition? i dont remember his name but he was 17 and absolutely amazing. i think nigel gave him a ticket to vegas for the new season. I hope he gets to top ten, he was so talented and i loved his audition
edit:the season premiere is this week ahh i cant wait at all. I forgot to mention but i really dont want Lil C to be a judge again. I really dont like his critiques because they honestly dont make sense or too wordy. Its basically a time for him to show off his SAT Vocab Prep skills. he turned me off last season since he just rambled on and on, plus i never liked any of his routines he did. I really hope he isnt a judge frequently this time because it's tiring listening to him

I thought that the cancer piece definitely wasn't the best routine ever. =="
And I would've preferred seeing Brandon and Janette's Jazz or Tango over their disco. :| It was more like "Nigel's favourite routines" in my opinion. QUOTE (PB&Banana @ Sep 1 2009, 12:05 PM)

^ He's confirmed to be in the Top 38 - the reason it's silent is because the "Green Mile" episode where they tell the dancers if they made it or not hasn't been taped yet. :P but apparently, Nathan did well in Vegas and "killed Mia's choreography" or something. I'm sure he's in!

Im not used to the 1 hour episode its bad enough they only show the episode once a week that means waiting for the top 20 will take F-O-R-E-V-E-R

I didn't like that one girl who did salsa dancing. I think she was good at tricks, but when it came to the actual dancing it seemed like her body was so stiff, but the judges praised her so much.
A lot of the tappers seemed like they'll be fun, I'm actually shocked that the judges were so nice to Bianca. I figured Nigel would've given her flack about wanting to quit last season.
A lot of the girl contemporary dancers that they put through seemed to lack personalities like the girls from last season. I'm really hoping that these girls perk up during Vegas week or that they don't make top 20. I am praying for a better season than last.

EDIT:
Breaking news:
Mia Michaels Leaving So You Think You Can Dance
So You Think You Can Dance choreographer Mia Michaels is stepping off.
Michaels, following in Paula Abdul's footsteps, first tweeted the news of her departure Wednesday night. She wrote that she had "five wonderful years to create moments and movement for the world to share with me."
Michaels, who won an Emmy in 2007 for her choreography on the show, has been on Dance since its 2005 debut. She served as both a contributing choreographer and an occasional judge.
Executive producer and judge Nigel Lythgoe released a statement Thursday praising Michaels' contributions to the show.
"We are thrilled to have given a talent such as Mia Michaels a platform to create Emmy Award-winning choreography," Lythgoe said. "During the auditions this season she has helped choose the best, most diverse top 20 we have ever had. She knows that she is always welcome to return later this season or next."

I love Mia since she's done some of my favorite routines, but maybe it's for the best. I'm sure she's not never ever going to come back. She'll probably come back to do one or two guest routines in the future. Plus it wasn't like she choreographed or judged _every_ single episode the past couple of seasons, so I don't think things will be that much different.
Also, she, like the other choreographers, was really bad last season. I only liked the girl duo routine she did for the finale. I'm hoping leaving for a while will give her a recharge on her creativity.
The top 20 look good this time. Only thing is I really wanted to see the girl who was originally supposed to be there instead of Ashley, she always seemed good. I also don't really like that one blond chick who they said danced like a teenager. I don't think I'll buy her appearing to be more mature on stage, she just doesn't seem to have the presence for it. Her friend Noelle I like a lot more, hope she does well. Also, that one girl who kept crying and had that high pitched voice like Stewie or Brian from Family Guy was getting on my nerves tonight.

Only one show of performances has happened, and I'm already stoked for the season! The talent is really, really, REALLY amazing this time.
Top 20 - Jazz: Visual aspect of this number was awesome, as usual for Wade. The green ladies had a great beginning pose, and Jakob swinging his jacket over that chair was hotness. The gray gang won for me; they were very West Side Story.
Kevin/Legacy/Russell - Hip Hop: Cool and smooth, easy to watch. It's always nice to see a NappyTabs that isn't lyrical.
Nathan/Channing/Jakob/Ariana - Contemporary: The moment when it finally clicked for me was when Ariana went flying off that chair into Nathan's arms. Perfection! It gave me chiiiiiillllllssss. Jakob's leaps were pretty amazing, too.
Phillip/Bianca/Peter - Tap: Love, love, love tap. Love the movement, the sound, the theatrics... nothing beats that old style. Peter has the cutest smile.
Billy/Kathryn/Noelle/Victor - Contemporary: Mandy Moore, the queen of hit or miss, finally gets one in the bag! I felt like I was watching Rent or something. Very innovative lifts, and I loved the turns at the end. Noelle, in particular, had some great lines.
Mollee/Pauline/Ellenore - Jazz: This might be the first Sonya piece I actually like. Much more jazzy and fun, not nearly as zany as she's known to be. I like Pauline, she's got *it*--I saw it when they started grapevining, and I said, Yep, that's my girl for this season. Y'all know me and my star radar.

Mollee really did dance more maturely, I was surprised. I actually kept forgetting it was her, she just looked and moved completely different from Vegas.
Ashleigh/Ryan/Karen - Samba: So I was all, okay, how are they going to pull this off. BOTH HANDS, DOUBLE TURNS, AND SEQUENTIAL SAMBA ROLLS, THAT'S HOW!! Floored at the genius. I think Ashleigh might have a little more on Karen for me, just because her swayback is more defined, and it makes her line sharper. Karen has great control, though. Quick, quick, pause, and she hits it without a wobble.
My early favorites are Pauline, Nathan, and Jakob. The ballroomers this time around aren't quite *stars* yet, so we'll see how it goes. Can't wait to see the couples perform tonight.

Channing/Phillip - Jive: Ehhhh. Phillip, as to be expected, had the footwork down, and Channing got by, but it wasn't as energetic as I like my Jives. Safe, but very forgettable.
Ashleigh/Jakob - Broadway: Great lines from both! It looked very finished. Again, though, forgettable.
Ariana/Peter - Hip Hop: I don't know WHAT the judges were smoking! Apparently Mary was the only one who watched the routine, because she was right on about the beginning/end being great, every movement as sharp or smooth as it needed to be. The middle died just the slightest bit, but come on, it was still more entertaining than the sleepers before it. It was like a hip hop version of Kupono and Ashley's crash test dummy routine.
Russell - Foxtrot: He was so smooth and cool in the beginning, totally won me over. He's going to have to work on the closed position gliding, though.
Bianca/Victor - Contemporary: C-H-E-M-I-S-T-R-Y, like damn. They were the first couple of the night to really own the skinship. And for the concept being him ignoring her, he still seemed pretty frisky. kekekeke
Karen/Kevin - Cha Cha: Karen was awesome, as to be expected. Kevin actually got in a few good hip rolls too, which was a nice surprise.
Ellenore/Ryan - Contemporary/Jazz: Sonya has gone in a completely different direction this season, and I'm liking it. Ellenore was really getting the stop motion, and Ryan had no trace of ballroom in him. Good, not great.
Pauline/Brandon - Smooth Waltz: Cute as a frickin' button, these two. And no one loves beautiful and flowy more than me, but it wasn't quite as flowy as it should have been. Pauline had a few moments where she was pausing and waiting for Brandon, which kind of killed it. Nice chemistry, though. Like Nigel said, it was kind of Prom-y.
Kathryn/Legacy - Hip Hop: SURPRISE OF THE NIGHT! Holy Jesus. Up til tonight, Kathryn was just another blah contemporary girl to me, but she was totally banging this choreo. I was NOT expecting her hips to be able to move like that. Whoo. Still reeling.
Mollee/Nathan - Disco: Never got into it. I like both, and they're definitely talented, but Mollee was too tentative and Nathan landed on the corny side. I'm a complete fangirl for the guy, but he was rather emasculated by this choreo. I think Disco can only be danced to my satisfaction by ballroom dancers, i.e., Chelsie Hightower and Janette. It's like jazz in heels, so you really need the sharp, quick swayback knees, and no one has those except for ballroomers.
Awww, I really liked Brandon. He had all of one day to take it all in, poor guy. I hope they let him come back for season 7. Ariana vs. Pauline... in all fairness, Ariana really was dancing. for. her. life. Total abandon, completely extended, giving 110%, whereas Pauline was just flat. There wasn't a great spin, or leap, or much of anything to make you go, yes, she deserves to stay. Come on, girl, bring it. You've got *it*, so do something!

Brandon and Pauline were the cutest everrrr.
But man Brandon was my favorite dancerr. T____T I actually thought their waltz was pretty good considering that Brandon only had a day and a half to learn it, but what ever the judges already have who they want to win already like always. Poor Brandon. T_T <3
Idk why but the jazz routine with Ryan and Ellenore reminded me of the hummingbird one and the one Kayla did last season about like the zombies.

I completely agree with what you said about Pauline. I'm not a dancer so my opinion is probably voided but it looked like Pauline was dancing without passion. Ariana was throwing her all into it, heart and soul. You could see it on her face. I don't know if Pauline was nervous or what but her moves were so static and passionless. It did not look like she was enjoying it all either.

Russell/Noelle - Hip Hop: At first, the tennis looked cool, but it started getting laborous. Just swinging, swinging, no real dancing. Pretty meh overall.
Jakob/Ashleigh - Viennese Waltz: Yay, a nice, soft kiss on SYTYCD, for once. The face eating was really getting old. Anyway! This was slightly above par for me, though I blame it more on the choreography, just like Adam Shankman said. I would have liked to see more gliding in closed position, because that basic step is beautiful enough on its own. Lifts were good. They did a lift from last season that I loved, from Kayla and Evan's Viennese Waltz where he's spinning her as she's arched back over his arm, holding a loose split. Gawgeous.
Nathan/Mollee - Bollywood: LOVED the visuals of the beginning and end! The silhouette work and the positions they hit were beautiful. Mid-way, I thought it was a little slow, and I think Mollee in particular could have been more sharp with her finger/arm movements. Nathan was awesome.
Victor/Bianca - Broadway: Not one of Tyce's best. Seriously. Lots of spazzing, hardly any dancing, no real coherent vision. Bleh.
Phillip/Channing - Samba: Channing had more hip action than I expected, which was good. Phillip was pretty vanilla, though, no spark. And the lifts, gaaaaah. They looked rough.
Kevin/Karen - Hip Hop: Power couple! Confidence, hotness, star quality, the whole shebang. Adam falling out of his chair was hilarious.
Legacy/Kathryn - Contemporary: My. God. These two have completely won me over. Kathryn, especially, because she didn't get much (any?) screen time during Vegas, and now she's busting out. Legacy was really good in this character, very strong and masculine. They had great chemistry, plus Stacey's choreo is always raw. Love it.
Peter/Pauline - Jazz: Conceptually, this didn't really land. I get what Wade was going for, but nothing about the choreo seemed to lend itself to the anger or the deviousness. It just seemed content to hide behind its weirdness/artistic license.
Ryan/Ellenore - Argentine Tango: I only caught the last half of this because I was on the phone, but daaaaaaang, what a trooper Ellenore was! Dance-wise, I saw some great, sharp lines.
Overall, I'm losing interest in Pauline and going towards Kathryn and Karen. For the guys, I'm still into Jakob.

^I actually agree with you. That big screen in the back may be cool and shiny. I remember being wowed by some of the lighting techniques they used in the previous seasons, but now all that is going to be overshadowed with that huge screen. It's also sometimes a little distracting to have it. Having it there cuts off the rest of the stage, so it's more contained and not as open as the previous one. It makes some of the spinning camera shots look horrible. Also I miss the stairs. Some of the choreographers used them so creatively, like Wade Robson and that 60's-ish group routine in season 3

i finally caught up with this show and prepared myself for next week when we actually get to vote. my favorites are nathan/mollee (since nathan is awesome and mollee is a local dancer), legacy/kathryn (i've been a fan of legacy since i saw him on youtube and kathryn is really good), and ryan/ellenore (ryan is another local dancer and i love ellenore's quirkiness). but i also like russell/noelle, ashleigh/jakob, peter/pauline, and kevin/karen, too. so basically i like everyone that's still in the competition. despite all of the changes, it's shaping up to be a great season in terms of the quality of dancers.

This is such a bad week. I don't feel any of the dances so far.....and there's only 2 left. Maybe some for the Broadway with Legacy/Kathryn
My fav this week is the African Jazz.......Broadway and Asleigh/Jakob routine was ok good....Everything else was.............

ehhhhh. Last night's performance episode was really subpar. None of the dances were great, nor were any of them remotely memorable if not for the epic fail for some of the routines.
I really wanted Mollee out of the competition. I have not liked her at all this season and didn't really see the hype and she totally deserved to be in the bottom this week.
Also I agree with the Nigel that some of the dancers last season were good soloists, but he was making season 5 to be the most amazing season and it wasn't. This show has lost so much of its momentum. Season 5 had it's moments like whenever Brandon and Janette were on or one or two of the group dances, but that was it. This season, hardly anything has been memorable to me, I'm still trying to learn some of the dancers names. With the exception of the intro to the top 20 show, this season has been really lame. I keep watching hoping that something will spark again, but I dunno =[
