I only use Skype when I want to ring up my friend.

technically how does it work? LOl what if I take the unlimited world subcription all pc-to-pc conversation are free right? What if I call my friend's mobile or landline from the PC will I get charged if they live in Japan and I live in Canada?

i barely use my skype nowadays since my mic won't work on my laptop and my desktop is broken. (where i mainly use skype) I LOVE LOVE skype though. i get to call my family on the other side of the world for free. with this kind of economy, it's extremely useful <3

@hiatus, the calls are free when it's pc-2-pc, but you have to buy credits to call from ur computer to a phone though. not sure about the exact amount of money you have to pay but they repeatedly say that it's cheap.. so... haha

Oh man, finally a Skype thread. I was curious as to if there was a thread for Skype on Soompi.
I use skype. Some of my friends use it too, but I only end up maybe talking to 2 of my friends on it, every once in a while.

I use it to have video conversations with my friends/family.

But Ovoo is better for video conferences because there can be up to 6 people if someone is a Mac user or pays with credits.

i like skype's layout and design. i've only used it once...lol i wanna use it more though since i see ppl talking about better quality
but no one i know uses it ppl use oovoo more.

Skype and google voice are not the same thing.


Also if you have a wi-fi phone there are apps to make calls using your cell phone, I have a nokia N82 and a Nokia E51 I can make free callls with skype user with my phone as long as there is wi-fi available.

I use Skype a lot now since i am halfway across the world from my family and friends. It is pretty awesome. ^^

BUT... I have a skype problem.
Alot of times when I talk to someone on skype, their voice seems to go 'roboty' and fuzzy, and repeats itself.
When this happens to me, the other person can hear me fine.
Does anyone else have this problem? It's really annoying, and I want to know how to fix it.

Skype when chatting with my mother and for work

MSN for my subbing teammates

YM mostly for my batchmates, former officemates and relatives

I use skype for people overseas usually
dont really skype people i see on a daily basis unless its a group voicechat
just more efficient than msn videocall or whatever

not many people i know have it though.

i use skype a lot! the sound quality is awesome and the calls don't drop as frequently as it does on msn (well, for me at least). i use it because i some friends across the country so it's easier to talk to them on that.

My skpe name is the same as my user name. I only used it one time but it seems like it can be fun.

I read on the news that in China if you were to use Skpe here to talk to your friends videos are leaked out or something? Is this true? I'm currently studying here and I use it to chat with friends but when I read this news I wasn't so sure if I want to use it anymore. So I was wondering anyone else heard about this?

wow, didn't know there was a skype thread. :D I use it like, daily, but I'm usually talking to japanese friends lol. conversations tend to be 100% Japanese with tidbits of English if I don't understand them, lol. Ofc, if anyone wants to chat, lemme know. :D

i don't like how skype doesn't allow for 3+ people in a video chat. :/ but the sound quality is definitely awesome.

i also run into problems that my video looks choppy (to me), but the video quality of my friends isn't choppy at all.

I don't think this issue has been solved yet, especially since it was only issued at the end of July this year, but there's a battle for the licensing used in Skype. They say if Skype loses a similar program will come out. No news on how this is, unless if people know.
