This "Tiger" or
This "Leopard" . Yesterday my friend told me that the price droped for this one. I have to decide which one to buy before the price goes back.
Is Apple's latest operating system,
Snow Leopard, a strong, reliable OS that demonstrates the versatility of Macs?

leopard came with my laptop, which i purchased a year ago. so out of those two, leopard would be the better choice. however, i am considering upgrading with snow leopard since i heard that it takes up about half the memory of leopard (freeing up space, yesss!) among other things and it's faster!

if it out of those two, i would get the leopard.
but i would get snow leopard cause its faster and the free space. but some people are experiencing some issues with snow leopard currently because it only came out like 2 weeks ago. leopard is more reliable right now but i would upgrade to snow leopard after a few more updates.

If you're willing to do a clean install, just go buy Snow Leopard for $29.99. It's already been confirmed that you can install from it without having Leopard. Saves you more money that way.
If you're upgrading from Leopard to S.Leopard, you're like to run into problems. I ALWAYS prefer a clean install than an upgrade. No problems from my Snow Leopard install.

I have the new Snow Leopard, and everything's running smoothly. They really did revamp the scripting and processes under the hood. You have the 64 bit which will become mainstream soon, and then openCL, along with numerous other upgrades.
And you get ~7GB back from the install. Boot times << especially, and shut down times are faster for me. And everything feels much more responsive. I love that it only takes me 10-15 seconds on my 2007 MBP to open any of my CS4 programs now
so +1 for snow leopard!

You're SUPPOSED to have it installed. It's you're decision to buy the full Snow Leopard via Mac Box Set for $229, buy Leopard and Snow Leopard $129+$29, or just buy Snow Leopard $29. In the end, it works whichever route you take.

Of course it's a good price. That's the cheapest you'll find it. Retail is $29.99. Amazons $25 with free shipping (and maybe no tax depending where you're located) is a bargain, imo.

I use Snow Leopard, which came with my MacBook Pro (: I can't really compare it to Leopard since I haven't used Leopard before, but many reviews say that Snow Leopard runs faster.

i run snow leopard on all my macs (imac, mbp, mb, mac pro) and there have been no problems. I really upgraded for the exchange integration on mail, but now if my EFFIN EXCHANGE TEAM would HURRY UP and finish their exchange 2007 server upgrade.
