Hey guys, I have a question.

I'm currently in my 4th year of Spanish. My past 3 years I've gotten A's, but I'm not very good at the language. I can't speak, write, or read it well..I just try hard and study. At my school, once you get to your 4th year, you're in IB. I'm not taking full IB, but I am taking 4 IB classes along with doing student council, this competition/class called constitution team, and outdoor school.

I'm thinking about dropping IB Spanish 4 because of how much I'm doing. I am in need of a free period because of how time consuming constitution team is and because for outdoor school, I'm gone for a whole week and therefore will be super behind.

Should I drop it? How important are foreign languages to colleges? How much will my app status drop if I only take 3 years of a language?

Well, you're not doing the whole program, so basically you're going to go to for the certificate. I mean if it were me it would be my last year taking it might as well take. You already have 3 years so just do it anyways you know. Most IB classes that you take help you with time management and organization, so it might help.

I would take it, especially if you're applying to college now. Colleges don't like to see that you dropped certain classes. They might think you're being lazy or something.

Also, I remember that some colleges think it's important to have language. There are many that require you to take language, so continuing a language may help you once you get to college in terms of requirements.
