woww, Kanye always has something to say on live TV.
sometimes i think he takes things way too far now.
anyone catch it live?
Kyung-Jae
I knowwww, I saw that on tv and I was like oh hold up, WHAT?

Poor Taylor couldn't do anything but just stand there and take it.
I know you all might think she shoulda said something back but that would just cause more damage.
MTV is already screwed up enough. but still, WOW.

Everyone was just like "uhm, excuse me?"
I bet beyonce feels bad right now. Hm, wait. nevermind. she was smiling.

You can just imagine the racism that's going to flow from this =_=''
but good lord, Kanye had NO right to do that. It was HER time to speak. SHE won, NOT beyonce.. Man, it doesn't matter at this point whose music sucks and whose doesn't. That was out of line, and was humiliating.

uhguhguhguhguhg. He just lost a WHOLE lot of fans right there.

v sleep.gif ohhhhmygod.

Dude get outta here. The Kanye on Soompi is also a jerk.

Anyways, that was soo unnecessary, it was her moment.

And Beyonce sitting there smiling it up. . .

Kanye is just a fathead.
hayabusa01
I hate Kanye West... but that's show biz. In the American media, bad publicity is better than no publicity.
azn3dvietboy
omg man i was playing maplestory and i stopped cuz taylor swift came on and boom!
freaking kayne comes out of nowhere and rants!
i was about to kill some serious snails on MS when i heard of waht he said to her!

john teshing douche bag!
Vanessa728
My mouth was wide opened. And I thought to myself "Oh, no he didn't?!" I checked to the right corner, and then it went to commercial and it said Live. Just to be sure this wasn't scripted. Wow. The word "jerk" absolutely crossed my mind! And what Beyonce did to give her speech time to Taylor Swift was so beautiful and kind of her! That's why I love her!
Searesrayne
It was rude of Kanye, but everyone once in awhile someone needs to be chewed out. Let's say a lesson learned... Taylor Swift will get supported and might even put more effort in what she does.

and hello Kanye has been doing this ALL the time. it's nothing new so move on LOL
rayna
Kanye is probably still pissed about that incident when Britney Spears was chosen to perform rather than Kanye a couple of years ago on MTV awards, i still remember him vowing he would never attend. Am I the only one that remembers this? Kanye is just stirring up some s*it on MTV.

Taylor Swift won the award, kanye had no right to trample on someone else's happiness nor spotlight. mad.gif
taaaaay
That was so sweet of Beyonce to invite Taylor Swift back on stage again.

If I were Taylor Swift, I would've flipped him off.
ale
Wow. I just saw the vid. and Taylor looked so humiliated sad.gif

Dude wtf is wrong with you?!?!? If you don't like that she won then rant about it in private and not while she's up on stage reciving her award!

Im so happy that she got a standing ovation from the crowd after Kanye West left the stage though.

To quote Pink,
QUOTE
Kanye West is the biggest piece of sh-t on earth. Quote me. My heart goes out to Taylor Swift. She is a sweet and talented girl, and deserved her moment. She should know we all love her.

minwoo012
i felt bad for taylor...but she handled it pretty well..
they say that she cried. but no one caught it on tape and she stayed composed for her perf.

and i think it was really sweet of beyonce to let taylor have her moment :]
boost
blame it on the henny!

xoxoknlove
that was just plain rude. taylor is really a sweet girl and very talented indeed
but you don't see anyone doing that to Kanye West (i mean if he even won an award) mad.gif
itrayya
he is a sore loser.
a wannabe winner.
a sore loser.
a wannabe winner.

GO TAYLOR AND BEYONCE!!!!
GregoryHouseMD
And you guys are whack.

I'm sure some of you drink. And I'm sure for those who do, you've done/said stupid things after getting wasted.

Lay off Kanye. If you're gonna bash him, bash him for drinking carelessly like that only.
steph*funny
That was beyond rude (though it is Kanye) and I don't think anyone deserves that...poor Taylor, she looked so helpless on stage =/ It was so sweet of Beyonce to invite her back up again!
oohdi
lol we should let him slide because he was drinking? lol...
it was his choice to drink he should have known that he has a history being an ass on award shows
i say bash him.
delightfulriddle
Ha ha ha, I actually posted a bulletin about this on my MySpace the moment it happened. Mr. Egotistical has no class at all man. It's amazing how fast pictures came up on the web though. People don't waste time. xD

Taylor Swift, the award is for you. Stupid Kanye West. You mess with my idol. T_T Her video is the best among the nominees! And is it normal that I cried seeing her like that? Damn. I hate you Kanye West. The award is for Taylor Swift. The MV for 'You Belong With Me' rocks!

Did I say that? No. But I'm pretty sure he wouldn't have done this if he was sober. His other antics on award shows affected his ego. Praising Beyonce... has nothing to do with his ego.

I said you could bash him for the drinking.

Down half a bottle of Henny while you're at it.

He already apologized on his site:

Clearly ravings of a drunken lunatic. Are you guys perfect angels after a couple of shots?

BUT drinking is no excuse.

from what you wrote it seems like you are taking his side and saying it's okay because he was drinking.
that is BULL

and yeah I know you didnt say for us to let him slide but it seems like you were based on your post.
itrayya
this isnt the first time he was whack :|
he's a whinner.
didnt he want an award a few years back and got mad when he didnt?
whinner arse.

AND HELLO! it's an award show, yah, you can drink,
but have at least some respect! that he doesn't have.
neptune_joker
Drinking or not, it was plain disrespectful. So what if he adores Beyonce's video? It's embarrassing to both Beyonce and Taylor Swift just butting in rudely like that. Poor Taylor, she deserves that award because that song really rocks and so does the MV. And Beyonce is being her beautiful and gracious self as usual for letting Taylor Swift have her moment for her first VMA award.

The fact that he was drinking doesn't justify his actions at all. It was his choice to drink, keep drinking, get drunk and act out. In fact, when he lashed out at the EMAs he admitted to drinking and that was the cause of his tirade (and that he was off to go drinking). He already knows how he gets and he keeps doing it? If he needed to drink that bad, get a good buzz, save the rest of the bottle for the after party. All this shows is this guy does not know how to drink and he shouldn't be doing it.

To answer your question, no I'm not an angel after a few shots. I've had my nights out drinking, partying, having a good time and having my hung over breakfast in some greasy diner the morning after. They have never involved me saying and doing things I don't regret because I was fully aware of what I was doing because I know when I shouldn't be drinking and I know when to stop drinking. Embarrassing moments, yes, but nothing that humiliates other people. People who can't be bothered to do that shouldn't even bother. Hopefully you'll learn too that alcohol is never a decent excuse for inappropriate action.

So... then bash him for the drinking which led to the outburst? huh.gif

And technically, I believe you SHOULDN'T drink at award shows dry.gif

I've seen my friends drink too much and do stupid, outrageous things that I don't condone. But it's usually stuff I know they wouldn't do/say if they weren't under any influences so I'm rather forgiving.

No where did I explicitly state that the drinking should excuse him. But seriously, you all just jumped to bashing the consequent without knowing the causation. He's got the actus reus down, but I fail to see the mens rea completely here.

Maybe I'm just too lenient. But really, you're all just acting out of little emotional rhetorics. If Kanye grilled Paris Hilton (not that she'd ever win any award anyway), I'm pretty sure we'd all have a good field day. But no, the fluffy bunnies and rainbows go away because it's an adorable innocent teenage female country singer we've all come to adore. Squeal?

I swear people are reacting more angrily than when Chris Brown pummeled Rihanna, which was far worse. People are slowly getting over that, and in time they wil over this.

And this is the part where you all aim your guns at me ~

Sorry to cut your post short but LOL @ actus reus/mens rea. I have a legal studies exam in a few days and boy, that is the last thing I wanna think about.

Who the fawk gives a crap about what Kanye thinks.
No one cares about who he is newaiis.

Even if people say "oh yeah he was drunk so no one should of blamed him for his actions"
well yeah. but why was he drinking so much? As an adult and an Artist, he should know how to respect other Artists who participated at the VMA.

Pretty sure Swift and Beyonce handled it well and deserved a standing ovation. (y)

It's just his over important sense of self-righteousness.
Seriously... ~_~

I doubt he was that drunk. The bottle of Henny was just for the looks.
iAmTan_1
Even though I totally agree with Kanye on the fact that Taylor didn't deserve that award [ her video concept was seen before on so many other artist videos ex. Avil Lavigne - Girlfriend] I still think that he should of ruin the girls moment. But that's just Kanye being Kanye....lol. That was reall cool of Beyonce to give the girl her moment. I gained so much respect for her and Jay-z as well for donating all his concert proceeds to the fireman and policeman for his 9/11 concert.

Beyonce Hwaiting!!! Jay-z Hwaiting!!!! lol
Bby-GIE
yeah i just found out about this through the pop up thing msn has.
and Kanye was being heaps rude.

but its cool how Beyonce let Taylor speak when she won her award. Very nice of her. =]
lua0o
at first I thought it was staged because you know how MTV needs that one water-cooler moment haha honestly I'm not surprised! that's what Kanye does..he likes to make a scene and everyone knows that. That doesn't justify what he did obviously, because it was extremely rude.
tiffanydawn
even though i think that Taylor doesn't deserve the award, Kanye must have not ruined her shining moment. what the hell was he thinking? >.<

anyway, Beyonce is simply the best. she's a very respectable person. i looveeeeee her <3

From the Superficial, from celebrities:

"Dear Kanye,
What happened to you as a child?? Did you not get hugged enough?? Something must have happened to make you this way and I think we're all just curious as to what would make a grown man go on national television and make a talented artist, let alone teenager, feel like mini cooper. I mean, I've seen you do some pretty rather infelicitous things, but you just keep amazing me with your tactless, bubble gum ways. It's absolutely fascinating how much I don't like you. I like everyone. I even like my bubble gum ex that cheated on me over you...which is pretty odd since I don't even personally know you. The best part of this evening is that you weren't even up for THIS award and yet you still have a problem with the outcome. Is winning a moon man that much of a life goal?? You can have mine if it will shut you up. Is it that important, really??
I was actually nominated in the same category that Taylor won and I was excited for her...so why can't you be?? I'm not even mad at you for being an bubble gum...I just pity you because you're a sad human being.
On a side note, Beyonce has always been a class act and proved again tonight that she still is. Go TEXAS!!
Taylor Swift, you outsell him ....that's why he's bitter. You know I love your work! Keep it up girl! KC smile.gif" - Kelly Clarkson

"Kanye west is the biggest piece of mini cooper on earth. Quote me." - Pink

"john tesh U KANYE. IT'S LIKE U STEPPED 0N A KITTEN." - Katy Perry

"I'm gonna say this, we should always have respect for each other! End of discussion" - Diddy

"congrats @taylorswift13 on your vma!!! you deserve it more than anyone!! I saw the devil in action when kanye west stole your mic! u rock!!!" - Heidi Montag

From what you've posted here and other threads, you posted the photo of him with the bottle and said 'he's been drinking, lay off of him' and telling us to see how we act after we've had that much. That's where we think you state that drinking should excuse him.

Since you bring up actus reus and mens rea, intoxication is not a defense. The state of intoxication can be used to support another defense and as part of the evidence whereby the accused was so drunk it rebuts the mens rea. Even then, only proof that intoxication happened involuntary (i.e. unexpected side effect of prescription drugs, where the accused was unknowingly or forcibly led to intoxication) can be used as liable defense. Where the intoxication was automatic (voluntary), intoxication is not a liable defense which is the case here. Like I said, it was his choice to keep drinking till it got this far, so I cannot just lay off of him and say 'Oh well he's had something to drink'. He should've kept his drunk ass down and minded his own business especially given that he had no business in the situation.

Lol everyone has been talking about this since last night. I heard this on the radio for so many times.

Didn't know drinking directly induces high levels of douche baggery.
Of course I've done/said stupid things when I was drunk, but I never made someone half my age almost cry, nor was millions of people watching me.
I think Kanye took that song to heart... Blame it on the A-a-a-a--a-a-alochol...

It's sad because Kanye does have some good music from time to time and I personally think he's talented, but his outbursts and straight up db-ness is the only thing he's remembered by... that and his sunglasses.

I believe an impaired mind acts differently from a sober one, where the latter is rational and the impaired may not be. I told people to lay off him because they were all croaking as if his little outburst was something he'd do regularly. Then I explicitly stated they could bash him for the drinking. Don't criticize the dependent variable on its own, look at the independent one.

Oh, and I major in criminal justice, I don't need a reiteration of actus reus and mens rea, thanks.

Who said there were legal matters that would require the legal definitions and usage? Actus reus and mens rea can be applied beyond criminal law, you know. Or what, Swift is gonna sue him now?

The proper argument should be:

- West is a jackass for getting wasted which led to him humiliating Swift.

Everyone else is just like

- West is a jackass for humiliating Swift. He was always an ass. Always will be. Etc. etc. etc

West will always have my loyalty after his "George Bush does not care about black people." outburst.

That one was sober and no one seemed to grill that, save a few racist right-wingers.

And I don't wanna hear that "drunk minds speak sober hearts" crap from people. If that's the case, is it wrong for him to truly think Beyonce deserved the award in his mind? No.

There were so many jacked up things about the VMA last night. Lady Gaga dressing up as Spider-Man's ultimate nemesis, Carnage was pretty bad. Lil Mama jumpin on stage with Jay-Z and Alicia Keys, I've never seen an angrier set of camel lips. But the kanye west thing completely steals the show. Did I think it was funny? Yeah, I kinda did. "BEST VIDEO EVER!!!!!" Do I agree with what he did? Absolutely not. I was a fan of Kanye West but after that stunt he pulled f*ck him and everything he stands for. I don't care if he apologized or not, I have no love for d-bags. But if anything I think we can walk away with one thing from the VMA's last night and that is that they have ZERO stage security. laugh.gif

Nope, I think Kanye is a serious douche bag and alcohol only makes him worse.
Blaming alochol on your actions is like blaming a gun you fired that killed someone.
