X Japan music is really popular. Their best song is Tears, about suicide. The cool part of Tears is that the singer's accent is great when he sings English, too! Quite a bit of English. I really like the English parts because I'm American, and most non-English singers accent is not really great.

If I remember correctly, Utada Hikaru has the best-selling album AND single of Japan, so she's really popular too. And if it matters to you, a lot of people say she can speak a perfect accent not only with Japanese but English as well. And people also really love Ayumi Hamasaki and BoA's music. If you listen to BoA ,get BoA's concerts and music videos too because her main talent is dancing (although a lot of people think she also has the voice of an angel).
