my brother and i saw it and loved it! i love the gay couple! especially the cream puff part!! lol! i also love how they're all connected!

Yeah, the ending really surprised me. Modern Family looks promising. I wasn't TOO impressed by the pilot, but then again, I'm usually not. But I'll definitely be tuning in to watch subsequent episodes.

The whole bebe gun part was freakin hilarious! lol

When I saw the commercials, I thought it was just another family sitcom, with laughtracks and the typical snappy punchlines. I wasn't planning to watch it, but I happened to catch a glimpse of it on TV. It's original and FUNNY in a natural way. I laughed so much. XDDDDD

i just caught the rerun of episode 3 and it was hilarious!! this show is brilliant.

mitchell's discovery of costco. "cam.. what is this place.."
and "you can literally buy everything you need from birth to death" LOL!!

manny and claire's sibling talk~ xD and gloria's bonding with alex.
"that's no way to talk to your grandmother!" when alex asks if she's kissed a girl. i died. lol

when jay hit phil with the plane. phil's dramatic: "i was in a plane crash"

and gloria at the end.. dressing up manny as a girl and telling him it was his twin sister that died.
epic moments.. they are one very unique family. hahaha

probably the BEST new show on tv (well this and glee). the dad is my fav and, imo, the funniest character on the show! the pilot was my favorite but each episode is hilarious!!!

i LOOOOVE this show. my new favorite comedy (not that I don't still totally love 30 rock). the dad who's trying too hard to be cool is my favorite character. his lines are mindblowing.

and yes, the closing credit, where everyone was singing the song, is freaking priceless.

I love the couple- Mitchell & Cameron! I remember laughing my head off when Cameron said, "Do the Sports guy chest-bump, sports guy chest-bump" to Mitchell! haha LMAO! & I also loved how Cameron put the Lion King song when he was introducing Lily to the family! The episode where they were in Costco was also a laugh out loud moment for me!

Also, Gloria & her son, Manny, have such a cute bond together! They are so hilarious!

The form in general is called "mockumentary" or mock documentary. It started way back in the 1950s and became popularized after the masterpiece of a film called "This Is Spinal Tap" back in 1984. Television shows have used it since then, but The Office (the British version, mind you) did kind of relaunch it and integrate it into sitcom back in 2001.

I'd say Modern Family is kind of a marriage between The Office (whichever version) and Arrested Development. And who would be against such a combination?
