After a young, middle class couple moves into what seems like a typical suburban 'starter' tract house, they become increasingly disturbed by a presence that may or may not be somehow demonic but is certainly most active in the middle of the night. Especially when they sleep. Or try to
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1179904/http://www.paranormalmovie.com/http://www.filmschoolrejects.com/reviews/f...ivity-lpalm.phpmm seems a lot of hype to this only showing in the west coast though. anyone see this yet?
o yea theres a warning to not see the trailer - spoilers and it kinda sucks like with the overreacting audiences
- i heard they got the audience to sign something so the theater could film their reactions during the movie so that might be why they were acting so stupid
if u want to black out the spoilers you have to set the font to the color "white" then you can use the black spoiler hi light

I think it is ridiculous that I have to drive three hours to see this movie, but I'm always down for a day trip and a movie.
I heard some good things about this movie and sadly I saw the trailer and yeah, no one jumps up or freaks out that much for a movie. I've seen scared people at a horror movie, but those people looked like they were actually seeing a real ghost themselves.

This movie looks really interesting... but I'm kinda scared to just watch it hahaha. I mean, I like scary movies, but I dunno if I want to lose sleep now since school just started a week ago. Not to mention the only theater in California that has it is in Santa Cruz which is about 1 1/2 hour drive.

For some reason, I found the trailer funny. Maybe because the audience look like they were 'acting'...it doesn't seem that scary. But if I watch it, I'll hope it's something worth seeing.

Saw it last night for our city's premiere. It was a sold out theatre and everyone freaked out during the show. It takes alot to unnerve me and I was creeped out twice during the movie. Pretty good for my standards. What I love about this movie is that no matter who you are there is a creepy factor. If the movie doesn't bother you when you watch it, it'll bother you when you turn out the lights to go to sleep.
There was some random moments when the audience would literally gasp in unison. Definitely better as a theatre experience. I enjoyed it.

Yeah, I just found out that the movie got a wider release now because of all the positive reviews. I'm still deciding whether or not to watch it since I don't want to lose sleep during the school year lol. I mean, I like scary movies since they're fun to watch with your friends or significant other, but this movie is very tempting...

Definitely agreed that the movie contains a creepy element it. I have watched enough "horror" movies and other similiar genres, so I'm like you; it's takes a lot to get to me in a movie because they're all pretty much predictable. But like you said, "if it doesn't bother you when you watch it, it'll bother you when you turn out the lights and go to sleep." Especially if you can't sleep and you're tossing and turning, getting ready to sleep.
The thing about Paranormal Activity is right from the beginning of the film, you know the purpose for the camera. The fact that it's a "documentary" taps into that thrill/fear factor in your mind. I also wasn't anticipating the humor, but there are humorous conversations in the movie that eases the tension (or it could be considered the precursor). Anyways, I enjoyed it and I recommend it if you're looking for a good thrill and definitely some "OMFG, did that just happen?" moments.

Watching it tonight in about 2 hours... hopefully the line for the movie isn't too bad since my friends and I are going an hour early for seats. All I know is that I will join my friends (who seen the movie) by being in a position where you can't sleep for 2-3 days... or longer =O I'm probably gonna end up being on the laptop the whole night until I pass out lol.

Saw this on Tuesday. It's creepy but not scary.
I guess maybe I'm a little more immune because I watch a lot of Ghost Hunters and Haunting from discovery channel. It didn't make me jump or even get my heart pumping. I was waiting for the climax and...it didn't deliver.
I think others might find it scary because it's something they could relate to. Like a certain noise they're uncertain of at night, or something like that. I didn't appreciate the motion sickness I got from it.
Overall, it's better than most of the crap horror movies available, but I expected something more.

I saw the movie last night and I agree w/ your post! The movie wasn't too scary, but it was just creepy of how the movie progresses. I mean, they make something so simple frightening. I never seen Ghost Hunters or Haunting, but maybe I should to get a better understanding of these situations.
I thought the acting was really good, and I'm guessing the couple are probably amateurs since this movie is their first big movie. But they could have just volunteered since the intro gave a little thank you to them for being the characters and using their home.
Some of the paranormal happenings I can relate to a little. My house is pretty old and I often hear cracks on the wall (something to do with the electricity wiring), hear a little bang on the ceiling once in a while, or hear the floor crack (it was originally wood, but my parents remodeled it by putting carpet over it) when someone is walking. I know it's not ghost or entity since I can hear my parents or brother walk out of their rooms to go to the kitchen or bathroom.
The only thing I was disappointed about was how quickly they moved to one thing to another. Like they should have explained their background a little more.
like when Katie mentioned her house getting burned down, and what happen to her family anyways? what about the other girl they researched at the middle of the movie? I didn't hear carefully on what they said. All I go to say is that this could have been prevented if Micah didn't piss off the demon so much.

Watched it last night at AMC Loews Village 7. I might as well have paid some homeless dude to run into the theater naked, as that would've been infinitely more entertaining. People actually thought it was scary. Hilarious. Could've sworn it was supposed to be a comedy.

Watched it at the AMC at Times Square. Movie wasn't actually that bad. I thought Blair Witch was better in terms of scariness. The best scare had to be at the end when Micah's dead body is thrown at the camera because you're expecting to see the demon but its only the possessed girl.
The Psychic was also hilarious.

I dunno how people got motion sickness from watching the movie since it wasn't even that shaky compared to movies like Cloverfield or Quarantine. Yeah the 2nd psychic that came to "help" was funny because he pretty much gave the couple the middle finger and bounced. The first psychic however, was helpful and he pretty much explained the situation to the movie watchers instead of the couple. Also, the above post didn't really spoil anything since the ending was in the trailer along with the 2nd alternate ending.

I saw it last night. I didn't think it was scary. The ending was a bit creepy but it wasn't too bad. I think people are just overreacting 'cause this was not scary at all. And I'm not much of a horror film fan. I thought the movie was sort of cool, like when the paranormal stuff happens, that was cool. The ending just killed it for me though, it's just weird and creepy. So if I had to give it a number of stars out of 10 stars, I would give it like 7/10.

I saw it on Friday. It definitely had some great creepy moments, but is overall not a scary movie. It was actually rather boring. Micah had some great, hilarious lines though, even though he pissed me off. Spoiler warning: It was the Blaire Witch Project + Cloverfield. The first 2/3 of the movie was pretty interesting, but then it became too blatantly obvious that it wasn't real. By the end, you realize that there are too many plot holes, and the whole movie just becomes ridiculous. Though I expect that some people will take this movie seriously, and the call the cops when the see the actors walking around.

i had to say... i'm glad i watched it.
this was the only movie that i was soo ecstatic about!
the ending wasnt what i had expected. the trailers showed micah's body being thrown, but what happened after that... WOW! i loved it! :]
and the whole foreshadowing with the
picture of micah and kristie? and micah's face being scratched, that was genius. right there, i knew something was going to happen.
i was a-okay throughout the whole movie. no motion sickness whatsoever. my friends left 10 minutes into the movie, left me alone, and then came back for the ending. =___=
BUT I LOVED IT!

Hence, "Paranormal Activity". I thought the ending was fine since how else can they end the movie? The psychics said so many times to not provoke the demon, and yet Micah did, so it was obvious what will happen if he keeps it up.
Also the above post, it would be very lol if someone called the cops if that happened... Even at the end it stated that the movie was fictional.

I saw it finally after waiting two hours because of it being sold out today (technically yesterday, since its 12am now)
Honestly, they hyped it up too much.
'The best horror film since _______'
no, not really. Yet, it was decent.
I came in the theater nervous and all but once we got to the movie, I think the only scary part was squashed in the last few minutes. & to make it creepier.. spoiler ahead (?):
At the end you know how they said they found his body on October 11th? LOL creepy much that I watched it on OCTOBER 11TH 2009. Everybody in the theater was like, "what's today?" "October 11th?!" "Holy sh*t." -runs out of the theater- LOL.
Oh and one thing I found stupid was.. after she got dragged, wouldn't Micah (is that his name?) consider, y'know, closing the freaking door? Unless it was closed after the dragging and I missed it.

i heard this movie was uber scary. supposedly made girls cried and boys peed in their pants. so i made my boyfriend go watch it with me. i was completely disappointed. it was so dull. i waited through out the whole movie for something scary to happen. which it never did. this movie is like one of those haunting stories you can watch on t.v around halloween time. the only decent part was the ending. and even that wasn't scary at all. paranormal activity=waste of time+money.

apparently there were 2 endings but they chose this one as the main ending for the big release.
it was alright...I mean yea, it was a little weird and creepy at parts but I don't think it was made to make you feel like you need to jump out every 10 seconds. but I was kind of disappointed in the ending mainly I wanted more to happen.

They were 2 different characters. The first guy had gray hair growing and he didn't wear glasses. While the 2nd guy had a more brownish hair and wore glasses. There is even a cast section on wikipedia that had a psychic and ghost expert. As for the closing the door, some people close the door even if it's just a couple is for protection if there is ever a burglary. Not saying everyone does it, but I know people who like to close the door since it makes them feel safer.

I don't agree since Micah was the one provoking the demon so many times and his actions pissed off Katie, which caused them to fight a lot. Like the psychic said, it feeds off negative energy, so the demon got strong enough to possess Katie.
