the reason why I am askin this is because on collegeconfidential.com I accidentally posted my college essay on a thread for critique instead of pm'ing it to the members who wanted to critique (for safety) and now i'm worried someone might steal my college essay, although it's not that great .... but still respectable and good. i'm not going to apply until like november and i'm really worried someone might steal my essay for admissions. if they steal, can they get caught, and am I screwed? omfg

Well usually....

Your counselors' and teachers' recommendations will have some sort of mention of what you will write your essay about.

For example.

I wrote about fundraisers I did for Darfur and an experience I had in D.C., so your essay will look more legitimate if it's corroborated by what your recommendations say etc.

Therefore, I don't think stealing your essay will be of benefit to most people, and it'd take someone quite stupid to steal another's essay .

Just delete the thread on College Confidential....
