Yes, i have a my own monitor and mouse. Mine broke down recently and thats why i need a new one.
I'm going to use it for mostly gaming (waiting on diablo 3...)

I don't think its THAT bad, I mean its a little expensive overall but the specs are quite decent and they are in canada. Plus not everyone knows how or wants to bother building their own computer, and look at that it even gets 2 years of costco warranty. Not sure how costco will help if the computer dies, but eh

The computer isnt that bad I agree but minus well buy directly from dell , this way you get thier warranty. Also for that price someone could def build one way better.

Anyways if you are going to be gaming a video card with >512mb memory would be better
I think people just see 8GB of ram and think OMG ITS SO GOOD... not even looking at anything else

I don't see anything wrong with your selection. DropKick's selection might be a little better, but that screen shot is from newegg and I know canada's prices aren't usually as nice

Is it possible to select a power supply with a different brand like Antec, Fortron, or Seasonic? Probably should go for a 500 just to be safe.

hmm. weird site. seems all prebuilt.
i think building a computer from parts is a piece of cake. just some screws here and there, then BAM, done.
youtube can really help out in showing you how to put pieces together.
building your own computer from different parts can save you lots of money and usually gets you better parts for the specific task you want it to complete.
but generally, you'd want something that can clock really high for gaming and a really got video card.

You might as well spend some more money for the HD 5850.

I say 600 watts is the better choice, since he has extra money and his main concern is gaming, the extra 100 watts could be used to run a sli or cross fire rig

just remember more isn't always better when buying a pc, 8gb ddr2 < 4gb ddr3

dont forget your computer fans! my barebones kit didn't come with fans so i had to drive around the city looking for them >.>
