Today coming home from school, i got into a car accident.
I am SO confident to say it was not my fault.
But right now, i know that doesnt matter. I am so thankful my friends and i walked out of the accident.
What had happened was i was just driving down a street and the other guy who was driving
completely blew his yield sign and just hit me. I hit my brakes and he only got the front of my bumper luckily,
and i think he is going to be okay. he wasn't bleeding or anything like that? and my friends and i are fine.
Thinking of what could have been though is making me cry and scared to drive ever again!

everything is so stressful right now!
with my insurance company and repairs ugh
Any similar stories to mine? How did you cope with it after? How was everything with your insurance company?
How long did you have to wait for repairs? Ever been the one to have caused the accident?

I got into an accident the day before my seventeeth birthday. I was going down this road on the left lane because the right and center lanes were crowded and the place I needed to turn into was on the left lane. At first, it was only me on the left lane. Then, this Beetle turned into my lane and was still pretty far behind me. Some construction workers got into my lane and was signalling me to turn into the center lane because they were about to close that road for construction. (It would have been nice if they had any warning signs but they didn't) Anywho, seeing them, I signalled to the right and slowed down to wait for cars to pass. I got to a point where I was pretty much stuck until the center lane cleared up. I was looking back to see if the center lane was clearing up when I saw the driver of the Beetle looking down instead of looking up (like what he should have been doing while he was driving). I was praying this dude would seriously look up and brake but he didn't. He started getting closer and closer to my car and I was just in shock. Then he hit me, followed by another impact. Apparently, the third car involved in my accident got annoyed of the traffic in the center lane and switched over to the left lane really fast but couldn't stop in time and hit the Beetle, ultimately causing him to hit me a second time.
It's one thing to get into an accident, it's another to see it's about to happen and not be able to do anything about it. I should have honked but I was so scared I didn't know what to do. The third car, however, I did not expect so it was a surprise when I stepped out my door and saw the third car.
It wasn't my fault though. The other two cars were at fault. My car STILL hasn't been fixed yet because the other two companies are blaming each other for it when clearly the main fault belonged to the guy in the Beetle. I've taken this issue to a lawyer already who is taking it out to court to repair my car asap. Ironically, the other two cars have already been fixed, and they're at fault. My car, who is not at fault, has not been fixed and they're estimating about another two months. It'll be five months since the accident until I can get my car fixed.
It's all a bunch of BS. I hate insurance companies. Especially the Beetle's Allstate company. I've only been able to speak to his representative ONCE from then until now. She'll tell me to have the phone ready to speak with me at a certain time and never call, and when I call her back and leave messages, she never returns them. She finally called me to ask why I sent the case to a lawyer when the case was about to be "finished." I was like, "No, this is pathetic. You waste my time by telling me to expect your call at a certain time, multiple times already, and yet you never call nor do you return my phone calls. This case has not gotten anywhere and I have the right to transfer my case to a lawyer to get things done faster." And she's like, "Okay bye." Stupid hag. If this case hadn't been transferred to my lawyer, she'll probably sit around and lolligag before making any decisions on how much damage each insurance company will pay. The other car's company, ACCC, has done things in a timely manner and has complied with everything they said they'd do. On top of that, they actually speak to me and return my calls. This whole time, we're still waiting on Allstate to be done bullmini cooperting around. Ughh...
Pisses me off just talking about it lol
Anyways, for some time, and now, still, I'm super afraid of being rear-ended. Everytime I come to a stop, I'm still a little traumatized. And notice I was still at a very young age when I got into my first accident. Luckily it wasn't my fault (can't say the same for all sixteen year-olds), but I'm still very scared of getting hit again. Not a pleasant experience for a newb driver.

^ Wow, sounds horrible.
It's stupid for the other two parties' insurances to be arguing about the liability but that's weird, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to fix your car in the mean time. I don't know that it pends on the "other" insurances, but your own.
I got into an accident early last week, I wasn't at fault but my insurance took care of it right away. I sent my car into the shop and just got it back yesterday. Then today, the other party's insurance called me to get my statement, they haven't taken full responsibility yet, but I'm pretty sure they'll be calling my insurance to let them know they'll cover the deductible. (The deductible was what I had to pay up front when I picked up my car, but that's what the other insurance is supposed to reimburse me for)...it'll probably take a week or so.
G'luck with getting your car fixed. Petty little accidents like these are such hassles, it's like not enough damage to immobilize your car but enough to p!ss you off (scratch/dent, especially me b/c I have a brand new car).
And yeah, it's annoying at first but just take a breath & be as cooperative as you can be, that's the best you can do. It wasn't your fault, so don't take it so hard on yourself.
I know it's shocking at first, but once you start talking about it to your friends/family, you'll be feel better.

you'll get over it, its not like it was your fault right? almost 90 percent of drivers get into atleast 1 accident in their life time so dont let this little event bring u down

If the car was suppose to yield but didn't, it is their fault.
Anyhow, I didn't get into any accidents yet, but my sister got into like...2-3 accidents within a timeframe of 1 year. For my insurance company, my sister was under 18, so all the records where cleared off by the time she reached 18. So she has a clean record as of now. Repairs took around 2 days (when this douchebag was turning into a parking lane and hit my sister's car and tried to run away). Another was a big one where a car behind her didn't brake and slammed into my sister causing her to slam into a truck (there was an incoming traffic so everyone was braking except that one guy and he decided to fled the scene probably because he had no insurance). So the repair on that accident took around 2 weeks.
Getting into accidents really suck, though.

as long as your rates don't go up, money from insurance is always good. =)

Yea I had my share of accidents. One at fault, and another was other's drivers fault. I think it's best if you find a insurance agent your comfortable with and easy to talk/understand with.
