Full Version: Iphone 3GS or Lollipop?

Hey guys.

I have a Lollipop phone right now. Had for almost a month now and I'm a HUGE texter.
And korean phones don't have T9Word and it's killing me! There really is no flaw to
this phone except not being able to send pictures and the texting is limited. I can only
type a certain amount before it changes to MMS which then I can't send. But overall, I LOVE THIS PHONE.

Just the texting is REALLY bothering me. My sister has an Iphone and I love texting on that.
And I asked her how the Iphone is and what the pros and cons were. That was my mistake.
She gave me a biased answer cause shes in love with her Iphone and says thats the best phone ever made.

Can someone help me decide on which one to use? Should I keep using Lollipop or change to Iphone?
I only have 9 days left cause that's when the first month ends. Which means that after that first month
I'll have to pay a fee to cancel with Verizon. And they're not cheap. Help, please/?

Thanks.

i think the answer you need is quite obvious here.....

i think you should get rid of the lollipop...i mean it's cute and everything and big bang advertises it but it's really not useful at all unless you just need to make calls.

since you're a heavy texter, i think you should get the iphone if you want to.

if iphone isnt for you then get blackberry! i have it and its really one of the best.

I have heard a lot of people disliking their lollipops in this forum
for some particular reason, but I really think you should change it.
I think the Iphone 3gs would be a great replacement, actually, ANY
smartphone would be a great replacement for any feature phone
(especially since its missing some certain functions).
aquateal
honestly, you really should go for the iphone especially in your case.
i heard after spending all that time & money to get a korean phone to work with verizon = you can't even see who the sender is if the sender is not a verizon customer. so most of the times you don't even know who sent you those texts b/c majority of the times ppl around us aren't verizon users... and heard no picture message can be sent/received and the limit on your text is like i dunno, 60 letters or something when all the other phones allow like 150..

so ehk! what are you waiting for, go for the iphone. koreans in korea are dying to get the iphone, they will toss their lollipop into toilet & be willing to pay more just to get the iphone. lol

Guess I'm slow because I didn't know that lollipop was unlocked? But I have the iphone 3gs and it doesn't have mms didn't at&t stop the service? But theres a way to do it with the 3.1 software I think...

But yea of course in general iphone is of course more useful.

The Iphone no doubt is the better phone. With the carrier update that was recently released you can now MMS (it should've been there in the first place). There are a lot more features you can do, and you kind of kill several birds with one stone here. You have a Camera, Video Camera, Voice Recorder, MP3 Player, MP4 Player, Portable Game Player, and a Phone. So many more functions, than your lollipop.

I say, suck it up and go with the 3GS.

But than again, i do have an Iphone. biggrin.gif

**Edit**
Let me tell you my story switching from a "Dumb Phone" to a "Smart Phone". My very first cell phone was a LG, than i got the motorola V2600 (the metallic one with the indiglo backlight) Than i moved onto the Motorola Razr V.2. Don't get me wrong i loved the moto phones. there was nothing wrong with them. I used them solely for making calls and not much more.

Than i got an Iphone for me and my GF for our 4 year anniversary. Needless to say my life is changed. Everything is so intuitive, no more having to go through 45 screens just to listen to a song or change a basic setting. I want to listen to music, i press the Ipod logo. I want to check my Email, I just press the Email logo. Simple as that.

It really is a great phone, i love everything about it. The App Selection is huge (it just reached 2 billion hits) not so long ago. It is a much better phone than the lollipop. I would say go for the Iphone 3GS.

And Korea will be getting the Iphone. I believe KTC will be carrying it exclusively.

Peace!

Thanks guys for all the replies. I decided to get the Iphone.
Thanks for helping me make a decision :]

Good!
I live in Korea and the Lollipop is pretty nice if all the functions work. But even in Korea the iPhone owns. It'll be picked up here by KTF and I would have gotten if it came out a little earlier.

On a sidenote, Blackberry came into Korea recently too. It seems the market isn't going to be dominated by LG and Samsung anymore. I think there really is a niche for all the foreign smart phones.

But... I have a samsung amoled haptic. sad.gif

I think you should stick to the lollipop smile.gif
Iphones/Ipod touches are all overrated in my opinion.
It's like, not even being used for its purposes anymore.
I'd die to have that lollipop phone, mind sharing where you got the unlocked version? xD

I don't think you should go with the lollipop just because it gets so boring after a week. You don't have the apps and the feature iPhones have unless you have an iPod touch.

just my thought.

I soooo agree...I bought a Sony Ericsson W910 before and I use to think it was so awesome cause of the way it looked...and 2 months later I wanted to trade it cause it was sooooo boring. So word of advice...NEVER GET A PHONE BY ITS LOOKS...that is, if it has great features like the Iphone (Im not biased too, I have an Android based phone and I clearly am more bias towards google..but come on now, Feature phone<Smart phone)

I must be on the same network as you since you got the cliq!
Good choice since the Magic has the plain stock android which
looks boring! T-mobile really needs to step it up with providing
other phones out there. I mean, the other companies have great
flagship phones such as the Iphone, Palm Pre, and Motorola Droid..

I think you're misinformed dude. The iPhone is not out in Korea and there has been no confirmation that KTF will carry the iPhone exclusively. We HOPE that it's coming out in November and KT released it's data/voice rate plans, but i've heard from an official Apple source that Apple Korea has not made an official statement confirming the iPhone. So until they do, don't count on it coming out in Korea any time soon...unfortunately.

If you can't wait for the iPhone than at least get something better than the Lollipop...the new Chocolate 21:9 looks sweet.
