what is the best video editing program .....that is free?
I need one and I need it fast because I'm making my mom a present for her birthday on the 7th of November and since we live like 10000 miles apart. I'm making her a flash video thing and I've got it all planned out but I need a video editting program
and since I've never done this I need a program that's good and is easy to use. I just need it to like cut parts out and edit it and all that.

Please help?

Windows Movie Maker or iMovie (Mac OSX) are great programs to make simple movies. They come preinstalled so you won't have problems obtaining it.

Any program after that is much more complicated and if it's your first project, it's going to be a steep learning curve. I used Sony Vegas and that was my favourite intermediate level program, but it does cost quite a bit unless you obtain it by "other means."

yeah i have a macbook that comes with iMovie but for some reason it's the only program I can never get to work it just like crashes every time I start. I have no idea why, it's not all the other stuff I install into it because the first time I got it it still crashed.

I would suggest calling Apple about it and possibly reinstalling OSX to get iMovie working. I would say that iMovie is the best choice for you and I actually highly recommend it. The next step above iMovie is Final Cut and I had a hard time figuring that program out.

If you have bootcamp, then just boot up Windows XP and use Windows Movie Maker.

If you want high quality, then you should use Sony Vegas Pro 9. Then find a crack and put it in. [:
