Full Version: SCREW YOU GREDDY EVO CATBACK!

Mr. Chan
So throughout the whole time of owning my car which came with the Greddy Evo Catback (I had the actual Evo muffler cut off in favor of the sleeper magnaflow look), I thought all along that it would be a TRUE 3" exhaust. Boy was I disappointed. But I didn't fret, I did what any sane person would do... which was hit up a local exhaust shop with a good rep and had them fab up a custom midpipe for me. Unfortunately, I did not get the chance to take a picture of the midpipe that the guy fabbed up, but it was done in an excellent manner. On the Greddy Evo midpipe, there was 4 bends or so with two resonators. The midpipe I had made only had two SLIGHT bends with no resonators, which made it as straight as possible... best part about it was that it was an actual 3" from the flange all the way.

Here's the pic of the evo midpipe that was tapered.

I was disgusted by it's blasphemous sight.

Another thing I realized was that one of my resonators had a HUUUUUUUGE dent on it.

With the resonators gone, the car is noticeably louder. The rumble of the boxer engine is also much much much more noticeable. When I get the chance, I'll record a vid.

Huey chopper sound FTMFW.

That dent ain't nuffin. You shoulda seen the exhaust leak I was sportn between my inspections.

I honestly don't need a silencer. Cops generally target cars with flashy exhausts. For some reason they do not target the "louder" ones.

Here's a pic of my car with the evo

Then with the magnaflow muffler on

Not once had I gotten pulled over with this muffler, even though I have a pretty fat FMIC.

Can cops pull you over for bbq bumper? One of my friends say they can.... something about exhausts not being right and a hazard and need to be checked.

Mine's not all that loud, but when I redline it can get pretty loud. No silences in the connecting pipe. Haven't been pulled over yet!

No clue, but I see a lot of Hondas with burnt up rear bumpers. Haven't seen them get pulled over yet.

The majority of the people who are getting pulled over are the people who has these types of exhaust.

Big 3"+ cannon exhausts...To think I was gonna change out my dying stock muffler for one. Oh well, at least the brand I'm looking at has more modest-looking ones.

I've seen too many Hondas with those, and unless they had an engine swap, sound annoying as hell, especially when you hear it at night - over, and over, and over again. I wanna hear your Subaru without that resonator, I haven't heard any boxer engines in my neighborhood in a while.

Don't get me wrong, if I didn't live in California then I would get an exhaust such as the HKS Carbon Ti, or Greddy Ti-C, or Apexi N1, or any melon shooters for that matter. It just looks very aggressive with the car.

Right, I kinda forgot that in California you can't exactly have your cake and eat it too. I'd want the barrel exhaust as well, it looks good on my car if I lower it. Too bad I can't really afford exhausts of that caliber (I wouldn't do it anyways, not worth it with a 5MGE, which is why I mentioned just getting a Megan Racing muffler replacement and some catback piping later on).

But in most cases, maybe 1 in 20 Hondas with those exhausts up here actually sound good.

Congrats.

The last person I know who said a cop never hassled them ended up getting a ref ticket last week.

cali sucks lol. with the chp lol. In ny they really dont pull you over and ticket you for tints/exhaust etc unless they already pulled u over for speeding or something. Then again, i drive with the moonroof open or lights on during the day+midday so the tints dont look as dark.
