What does holding hands mean for you? How do you like to hold hands?
What pops into your head when you see two people holding hands?
Any own rules for holding hands? ( couples only? Friends only?)

korean_boy
holding hands to me means you want to make babies without actually making babies... if u know what i mean laugh.gif

Affection. Alliance. Love. Whether it's between a couple, friends, or family, it shows some kind of care between the two of them.

Most of the times, others would assume that you are going out with someone when you are holding hands with someone from the opposite sex but it isn't always true. I always hold my friend's hand just because I find him so adorable (no, there is no feelings attached but the fact that I love him like a little brother).

is there a large difference in age?

i'm more on the "traditional" side and i would only ever hold hands with my boyfriend. LOL biggrin.gif
i like it when we hold hands, it makes me feel like we're talking even when we're not. and when i feel like i need strength i hold on extra tight and he'd do the same. it's an amazing feeling. hehehe biggrin.gif

when i see people holding hands the way couples usually do, i assume they're a couple. =P
Mannosuke
When I see two people holding hands, I imagine two people holding hands.
Is that supposed to mean anything?
kcn_
it means you have to cross the street ...

lulz to me its just another way to show affection or give reassurance to those in need
B0SS
Holding hands means at least one person in the relationship is happy (to me lol).
When two people hold hands I immediately think they're in a relationship, opposite sex or not.
I believe it should be couples only... I just can't imagine myself holding a friend's hand (and I'm a guy btw) without feeling awkward.
I'd actually decline if someone asked to hold my hand while walking (not just because I sweat profusely haha).

I wouldn't hold hands with anyone except for my boyfriend. I think its just my way of showing affection towards him. laugh.gif
freakCLICHE.
I hold hands with friends...I'm a girl by the way. I hold hands with my friends (that are girls and guys). It does depend on how the other person feels about it though. If they feel uncomfortable, then I'd respect that.
Mr. Chan
I hold my friends hand just to make them feel uneasy. It works awesomely.
wendaYYY
Good for telling other people to rack off. It screams I AM TAKEN!!
myxo
To me, holding hands is restricted to the s/o only. It devalues the feeling if u hold every one else's hands. Also, just my opinion, but holding hands means a longing to unite two people together as one entity. Like that feeling of together forever. When I think of holding hands, I envision the backs of a guy and a girl holding their hands on the beach.

If it's friends and family, I link arms with them to show my affection but I never hold hands with anyone else.
IntangiblyYours
I also agree with mandoo*, but along with that, I think it's for protection as well, like when a mother holds her child's hand. It keeps the child from getting lost and the child also feels safer.

I hold hands with some of my friends (girls only; my boyfriend would kill me if I held another guy's hand XD). It feels a bit weird, but I just take it as they care about me, so I don't mind it.

When I see two people holding hands though, I automatically think they're a couple. If they're two people of the same sex, I may rethink that, but you can probably tell by how they're acting together whether or not they're going out.

No rules to holding hand. :] I just think it's a sweet gesture.
<3 Kim
I hold hands with my bf but I also have no problem with holding hands with friends
maritadott
i only hold hands with bf (but dont have one right now)

holding hands with friends, its something children does or 14 years old teenage girls...at least here it is. or maybe im just starting to become old. haha.
shern
i think i would rather choose holding hands than kissing. happy.gif
neon.zebra.oatmeal
I hold hands with my friends too. Only my really close ones though.
If we're walking somewhere, then we jokingly link arms or all grab hands and swing them really big.
I know girls in Korea link arms. It's like a sign of friendship, I guess?
I don't know. We're weird XD

I guess with with a guy it's a symbol of trust and connection?
Like wanting to be close but not overly clingy.

:::edit::: topping a page! smile.gif
saranghaexgd
i feel like it means protection.
lovebaby
Protection, like many have said. And assurance that there is someone there for me. It's a way to provide emotional support.
But most of the time, it's simply just public display of affection.

koreanballads
It means you're in middle school.
hamdainvincible
I've only held hands with one guy and he was in 7th grade when I was in 8th and I asked him to hold my hand on a roller coaster because I got scared...
Means nothing to me, I hold people's hands at church all the time.
Most of the time, it means a sense of security.

when holding hands, i guess its to where someone is comfortable with another. I like to lock fingers with another. When i see other ppl hold hands, no matter what gender, i just think of couples or friends.

hanulnabi
I always hold my girls' hands/link arms while talking, especially when I become a little too excited. No problem with that. Never held guys' hands though, unless the contacts were via handshakes.

If a guy and a girl link their fingers together, which I find utterly cute, tells "we're in love and we want all y'all to see it." I think it's pretty hard to see a guy and a girl merely within the friend realm if they're holding hands while walking. Holding hands while conversing may be a little different. Not sure. tongue.gif

Hmm... if it's holding hands in affection, then I would only do it with those I truly care about.
If it's 'grabbing their hand to lead them away, or to cross the street', then I'd do it with everyone.
When it comes to holding hands, usually I see it as... simple PDA?
It's cute for couples. I'd prefer couples holding hands than making out in front of me.

^LOL this. (=
Usually my friends would just grab my hand and hold it. I don't mind though since it's just holding hands for fun LOL and I wouldn't feel anything though. Plus I would link arms with my friends all the time.
HUAY
I would hold hands with only my boyfrannnnd<3. And the interlocking fingers way... Not interlockingfingers way maybe with like.... o_o. Family and o_o stuff... XD like my sister or something.

[edit]

Amen to that.

To me, when my boyfriend holds my hand, I feel really happy and safe. It's a really intimate gesture. And sometimes I forget we're even holding hands because it's just that comfortable and natural. I like to hold his hand with our fingers laced.
When I see other people holding hands, especially old people, I think it's incredibly sweet. It's a very simple, meaningful gesture. But I also get jealous when I see other people holding hands because my boyfriend and I go to different colleges and I don't see him as often as I'd like. It makes me sad that other people can just reach over and hold their boy/girlfriend's hand, but I can't.

I would be slightly uncomfortable if a friend held my hand. Arms linking is okay, I suppose. I'm just not much of a touchy-touchy person.
duntellmi
I like linking arms more than holding hands, because hands will sweat, haha.
I just think its nice and I've always been a more touchy-feely person so my friends are okay.
ex4zngod
My girlfriend always tells me that the gap between our fingers are for holding each other's hand, which is really sweet :3. Holding hands to me is showing people that we're together, i love her a lot and will protect her at all cost making sure she's save as we keep in contact and from time to time keep each other warm ;], I only hold hands with my girlfriend because i only love her =)
veeveeyan
I hold hands with a lot of my friends so the meaning is probably purely affection and I like holding hands a lot - more with guys than girls, unless the girls are really good friends of mine.
Generally, when I see two people holding hands, I think about them being a couple. Most of the time, it would be true, but sometimes, in my case, it wouldn't be.
No rules for hand holding! (:

Oh yeah, everytime me and my boyfriend held hands it meant we went all out later wink.gif

Lmao, I don't knowwww. Affection? Comfort? His whole body is always really warm. He's like my personal space heater.

i agree with mandoo*.
i hold my SO's/friend's hand whenever we're in a large crowd and a bit scared to get lost, so, protection?
but yeah, affection, protection, reassurance. same with linking arms.(:
ssulja
comfort, secureness. but most of all, knowing she'll be there when i need her.

interlocking fingers is the best. i don't see it much at college though, compared to like... when i'm in asia
bah now i miss her
x_applechan
Significant Other: it's official, they're together. cute <3
I use to hold my exes hand because i was scared and it was comforting.

Friends: they're close friends smile.gif
sus
holding hands means togetherness to me
i always like holding hands with my bf..
cos i can constantly touch him hahah
he likes holding hands too so its ok smile.gif

hmm i would onli hold hands with friends at clubs
otherwise i feel weird

stegorawrus
I hold hands with my s/o for the reasons being that I get lost real easily and for protection. Also for warmth! I usually assume that when people hold hands in public, they're a couple.
aly_ssa
I hold hands with everybody I love.

It's like a connection somehow that speaks of your affection, when your hands are clasped together you're inseprable unless of course one pulls his or her hand out.

lol I must be being overly dramatic, but that's really how a feel about holding hands it's really somethig sacred for me
Angxizzle
holding hands to me mean you really fancy that person. smile.gif
peachgirlxo
i hold hands with my best girl friends cause i love them so much (: just casually walking or something
with my boyfriend, we hold hands cause we like eachother so much. i never hold hands with a guy unless we like eachother.
soyabeangirl16
What does holding hands mean for you?
It means different things with different people. I mean, if i like the person, its romantic, but if its with my close friends, its just that we're close.
What pops into your head when you see two people holding hands?
It depends how else theyre acting, but i might think theyre a couple. not always tho.
Any own rules for holding hands? ( couples only? Friends only?)
no, not really. whoever wants to hold my hand that i dont find creepy LOL
