Well as most of the people here on this site are kpop fans, im sure we have all came across groups we don't really listen to.
However, what i notice is that people tend to take things to the next level, and claim to hate artists/groups.
and the question i have is why?
small chance of it being their personality, because from my experience, most of the idols/artists are quite funny kind and respectful. and yet i continually see the word hate appear in people's responses.
what do you think is the reason for all the "hate"?

People who "hates" on artists/groups seriously needs to get a life. It's one thing to not like them or give a crap about them, but to hate? haha cmon now.
With that said, I couldn't care less about 90% of the Korean artists/groups out there.

Hmm... i don't hate any groups, but i'm sure that some may hate some groups because their fav. group is not being fully represented as much as the fan wants them to, you know what i mean?

One reason why I dislike one particular group is because they're leeching off another group in the same company.
Overrated-ness in a band...
And another is just simply because a member(s) is too arrogant.
I personally don't have too big of a hate list.
Actually, only one person is on there.

Usually it's because I think they're overrated or a couple of their fans ruin their image...even though that's not a good reason but it minuses a couple of points.
It bothers me when a group gets recognition because of another group. Popular groups get to where they are now because they suffered a bit when they debuted and got what they deserved after one/a couple comebacks. But a certain group is just riding along smoothly.
I don't necessarily hate them as people but I dislike them as artists.

I dun like kpop but i don't like it because in the end it involves a lot of autotune (thanks companies and programs) and doesn't require great skill. As well as a ton of good looking guys/ girls and dancing... (marketing scheme right there) and i dun like a large group of people with one name... just a pain to remember.
My comment about kpop is... if you can dance and you're good looking/hot/sexy/etc... you can try it out and get signed up w/ a manager.
I tend to like someone who has a great voice over their face. After all... a song is about their song, not their face or how pro their dance moves are...
and there's just way too much kpop bands and i dun get the lyrics...-.-"

Well hate is too strong of a word for me but more like really dislike sometimes. Usually it's the fans if they're over-glorifying their idol so much to the point that they think he or she is a musical genius when he/she really isnt. Another is that I feel that some idol groups get too much recognition because they 're just trained and look good , basically being pre-packaged ,compared to other k-artists whom I think have way more natural talent and arent recognized as much.

it's so obvious which group everyone is "disliking" because they're leeching off another another group's talent. is it not possible that they are just good? why can't anyone ever accept that? some groups are talented from day one, some need some time. some groups are underrated, some are overrated.
anyways. i don't hate groups. i dislike the music they sell, and don't care for them. and when i hear the song that i don't like, it gets annoying. and then the group starts getting annoying because they pop up everywhere with a song i do not like. that's how it is.

And certain groups just happen to be a good candidate for venting your built up hate, with somewhat justifiable reasons.

Agreed.
To me, people who dislike/hate on groups are just voicing his or
her freedom of speech rights. I'm sure some can just plaintively
ignore things that don't interest them, but other choose not to.
They rather just dig topics that have potential spreading and
allow their hate to be acknowledged.
I do get upset on how most female groups advertise their songs,
but that's marketing for you. I've probably hated a few of groups
out of jealousy maybe 'cause I'll never be as pretty or gosh darn,
I can never sing that well. It's a momentary hate session, but
afterwards I move on.
Edit; Agreeing with Regina Rae.

Oct 26 2009, 03:20 AM
People don't have to have a valid reason.
Hate is not a reasonable emotion. Pretty much anything can start it.
For example, I hate SHINee.
1. Their stylist is either blind, or a drag queen.
2. Jonghyun looks like a shark, Taemin is is really girly, not just in his looks, but his actions
(at least that's how it appears to me, a non-shinee fan. don't jump on me because he's secretly manly)
I don't know these guys names, but one of them tries too hard to be cute, and the other looks
like he was out drinking too late and his face is massively swollen. The one who got his nose
done is the only one I think is decent in there.
3. Except that Nuna Neomu Yeppo I didn't really like any of their songs.
And since they have some popularity, they play the songs everywhere, and the it annoys me.
I know none of these things are really their fault, or things they can control, but it makes
me dislike or "hate" them. So basically, hating an artist isn't something that makes sense.
It's not something that people set out to do, and not something people can control. I think very few people,
hate artists, to the point of really wanting to injure them. They don't dislike them as people, but rather the
image they portray as an entertainer. It's just when you dislike them, or don't care
saying mean things can be funny. I don't spend my time thinking about how much I hate them, or whatever,
but if it come up... yea lol.
Anyway yea. Entertainer Hate = Irrational.
Well... Unless you hate like Jo Hyung Ki... That guys needs to be hated lol.

i have no comment to say as a respond to your question. but i have a classmate and he's a guy. the problem is he's a guy and he hate k-pop. most of the female students in our class are kpopholics and he finds it's disturbing. he even wrote on his myspace that we are like pinkberryes and we should what- i didn't remember what he wrote but he's insulting us, i guess. i mean, why did he have to hate us and call us pinkberryes just because of we adore kpop not as much as he does? we have never asked him to tag along when we talked about kpop. we have never talked loudly when we were talking about kpop. he was the one who always barges in and said "koreans are gay" ahh, i really hate this guy and he always thinks he is the best.
so i think my comment is not an answer to your question, hahaha sorry sorry.

Oct 26 2009, 07:26 AM
I must inquire, why do fans "love" their artists so much they send a person an angry suggestion to commit suicide? Hmm... I've pondered this for a brief moment and I'll say that in both cases, irrationality and immaturity are the main factors. Note that love normally doesn't manifest itself as a rational emotion, so neither should hatred. Indifference is the opposite of love, not hate.
Why do people hate idols is far too broad a question. I would agree with dancingbymyself that most people do not usually hate idols, they just dislike them, although tidbits they might write may seem loathing because they're venting their frustrations. Some people dislike them because they believe that they're not very talented, and their music has been manufactured by a massive industry with minimal interest in artistry. I find it ironic that vile feelings are usually directed to Hollywood celebrities like Miley Cyrus or the Jonas Brothers, yet any remotely critical statement about DBSK or Super Junior gets lambasted. Most humans like things, and they don't like things - this seems pretty simple to me.

I like 2ne1 but I guess I can casually say that I hate 2ne1's wannabe-ness (sorry, making up my own word). But I don't really mean that I hate it and I definitely don't hate the group or the individual members. I'm just really turned off by the way they portray themselves through their music videos, performances, and ghetto slang (just my personal opinion). I don't think I've ever really experienced truly hating something. Dislike would be a more appropriate word. But I don't think there is anything wrong with disliking certain things. Maybe the problem would be in the way people express their dislike/hate. However, when it comes to why people hate I think everyone has their own reasons whether it be reasonable, ignorant, immature or whatever.

It's useless wasting your emotions on people you mostly likely will never meet nor do you even know them personally.
I don't hate any group, I hate the music they sing or maybe the things they say but how can I hate a whole group of people who I don't even know or haven't even talked with? It's kinda stupid if you ask me. I remember when I hate this girl group a few years back, and 99.999% of all fan girls did too. Honestly the only reason why I hated them was because they were close to my favorite group and I was being a delusional fan girl acting as if they were flirting with my boyfriend or something. So I guess if someone says they hate a group they just don't like their music, style, the performances or they're just jealous fan girls/boys. Then there's the handful of people who say they don't like an artist because they think they're not talented. Then again those people never hate, they just dislike. That's just what I think.
Hating is an easy thing to do. Accepting is much harder.

I guess the word hate used on artists is usually coming from their fans? And, to hate.. and guess it's possible to encounter situations where you just hate the fans' personalities, etc. Lmao, I don't even know what I'm saying anymore.
