The NEW song that came out by Cascada called "Evacuate the Dancefloor" sounds very similar to the song "So Hot" by the Wonder Girls.

Is it just me or... what? huh.gif

I've been hearing news about how the Korean Entertainment Industry have been plagiarizing songs from the American/ Britian??? Entertainment Industry....

For Example...

Sorry Sorry by SUJU plagiarizing Womanizer by Britney Spears

8282 by Davichi plagiarizing Happy Ending by MIKA

I just think it's ridiculous how they would call it plagiarized even though it sounds similar... I mean there are hundreds of different melodies and tunes out there and maybe they somehow turn out to sound the same by accident. But yea... just a thought...

COMMENT ON WHAT U THINK.... biggrin.gif

No I think it's just you.

We're running out of tunes to play with. Increasingly more artists are 'sampling' other artist's works...

In the future, when someone does make an original song, it is going to be a hit - it is going to be highly acclaimed.

I think we just need to learn to be original... If there truly is no boundary in art, then it's time for artists who believe in that to prove it by exploring new kinds of music and melodies.

I think its the beat and sounds used (since synthesisers are becoming popular again atm) that makes these songs sound familiar. Not to mention there are hooks (like the intro to 'So Hot' and 'Evacuate the Dancefloor') that are pretty much standard chord runs that you can't really say one copied from the other... So if someone does a chord I, IV, V, I progression - are they copying Beethoven or something? Nahh, we can't say that. It just shows the unoriginality of artists these days, really... Sometimes it can't be helped - you don't know what a girl mixing a song in her private studio is using as her melody... America, Korea, are pretty apart music industry-wise that people are willing to let them sample off each other.

Still, it's no excuse for the music industry to fall into creative shambles. We need sounds that haven't been done before.

the backdrop like the clapping....i think this song is better though.

if clapping is the same then so hot is stealing other songs too
cause that clapping has go way back to the 80's
it's the 80's sound
lol

i dont hear any similarities at all

THE BACKDROP BEAT IS SIMILAR TOO, and it isn't like it's just clapping, it's clapping in rhythm (excuse the caps, caps lock was on)

The thing about albums in America/Australia etc is that the songs are usually composed far before the release of the album, and this album was probably recorded last year, 2008. I personally hear no major similarities and I would bet that the sheet music would be pretty different.
