This is with installation? How much did they charge you for labor?

Cause that sounds like BS.

Front pads - $121.99 CAD
Two rotor Resurfacing - $70
Labour & installation - $138
Brake fluid - $5.75

Plus 7% GST and PST = $40.25

Total = $376

$61 for front pads? that seems way too cheap tho. Thatd be the price youd pay for corolla pads.
Clix
So that's why it's 400. because you got your rotors resurfaced.

Did they get your pads from a dealership? Or from a wholesaler?

There's alot of wholesale OEM distributors on the net that sell parts cheaper than stealerships.

Looks like they just raped you on the resurface and Labor fee's. Labor rates differ from shop to shop but the average is $70-80/hr. The dealership is where labor goes up to $100+/hr. Resuface is only $10 per rotor. And the whole job should take no more than 30mins including the resurface just for the fronts.

Not sure man. They ordered it for me from a local shop. So i guess the price is reasonable then. I should DIY next time. thnx

To the above post. john tesh, I knew I got ripped off for resurfacing. Like srsly? That easy task for $70 john tesh!

With my friend's Miata we changed the rear pads and resurfaced the rotors, so the only thing he paid for was the cost of the kit ($70) and the cost to rent a lift, tools, equipment and facilities ($3 for one hour). And I worked for food ($10)... LOL.

So yes, I definitely say you got shafted. laugh.gif

Which freaking BC Nissan dealership did you go to? Yeah the labour is murder, but the pads don't seem quite right, unless the fact that you drive a G=higher part costs.
CatGoesMeow
sounds about right, for that price might as well paid a tad bit more and gone to the dealer!

..... what. thats so expensive, did the resurface your rotors too? new brakes in the front + back should run 500~ ...

dont go there again

edit: yea, i see they resurfaced, they raped u for labor

Don't feel too bad, I just paid $1364 for my brakes, and that's just parts (DIYing myself)

Yea, thats pretty expensive if they only cut the rotors. I wouldn't cut rotors, either replace them or leave them.

If they ordered from a local shop they probably got some cheap pads that cost 20 dollars. I wouldn't use after market cheap brake pads because they usually squeek. If you do order after market you need to source them out on your own. You should do it with a friend that has some mechanical experience next time. It doesn't take too long (my personal best is 6 minutes for front brake pads). If you are just changing the brake pads then its just 2 bolts or "locating pins". If you are changing rotors too then its 2 additional bolts and possibly a 3rd one (might be torx or a phillips screw) holding down the rotor

I hope you got all 4 corners with brakes and rotors, 2 sensors, and the tube of silicon grease that will last you for another 10 brake jobs.....and even then it sounds like you may have over paid (if you bought from your dealer, DEFINITELY if you bought from autozone

I did get all four corners (345mm 2-piece floating CSL fronts, 314mm 2-piece floating euro's in the rear), larger caliper carriers to accomodate the CSL rotors (no ZCP stock for me), 2 sensors, Axxis Ultimates, ATE Super Blue, and Stop Tech SS lines. No silicon grease, however. boo!

rotors/pads/sensors/fluid from a hookup at DDM tuning, caliper carriers from parts.com, and SS lines from zeckheusen racing, so the cheapest prices I could find anywhere.

haha what is too much is paying like $1000 on brakes on a 2001 Jaguar S-Type. that's a lot! i guess there's a reason why its only running for $7500, because you'd have to spend the other $10000 on parts and services. My aunts 03' CLK500 was a lot easier to maintain, and it's a Mercedes!
sikfahn
i got quoted 1200 for new brake pads and rotors for a volvo. x.x so i think 400 doesnt sound that bad.
charat
uhm... if you did it in a shop. you get screwed either way. ceramic brake PADS are only 30-50 bucks (depending on your car, luxury cars might be in the 40-60 buck range) for a set for both front brakes. and i do all installations myself. it takes 20 minutes for both.

$400 is stupid dumb. i could to a full hub and brake caliper replacement for that with all new parts.
