Community college may be my only alternative if I don't get into any four year colleges but I'm worried my social life might get damaged. I want to basically "start" a new life in college both academically and socially but I'm afraid going to a CC might ruin my social life, unless I transfer out of CC after only one semester. Think about it. If I stayed at a CC for 2 years then transferred to a 4-year university as a Junior, it's possible I might not "fit in" in the university socially since I'm two years late and everyone already adjusted to the new people they met their 1st year, the atmosphere, the surroundings, etc. Of course CC is not a bad option at all (It saves you money after all and prepares you well to transfer to the 4-year university choice) but I'm afraid it might take a big hit to my "social" life. It might be the same feeling as going to your local High School until your sophomore year and then unfortunately moving to another town, having to attend a new high school from your junior year until your senior. You just don't feel "comfortable". It might be the same in college =/. Man, I don't know but I've been worrying about this recently. What do you guys think?

Honestly, universities are BIG places. It's nothing like high school. People you meet in your first year are not going to be the people around you in your 3rd year. I go to a CC and yes my social life has totally went down hill and at first it bothered me but now I kind of enjoy doing things on my own. You get to finally live independently and figure out what YOU want to do without the influence of your friends. You also meet friends in CCs too so don't think just because you go to one, you won't get the experience of meeting new friends. People are unexpectedly very friendly in community colleges.

That's not really true...It may be true when you're in highschool and like you moved from different highschools, but in College it is totally different. Every new semester you don't likely see the same people in your class ... you meet new faces everyday...and just because you go to CC can't really ruin your social life unless you start wanting to be isolated from people. I would say you tend to meet tons of new people...it's like when ur in highschool your living like in a small town in Nebraska or something where everyone know each other and the city's population is 1,000 but in College it is like your living in Los Angeles where the population is millions.

Besides, the people you meet in CC may also transfer like you and end up in the same uni/cal state as you and then you'll have a friend! lol...that's how my sister stays connected w/ one of her friends she met at CC and they transfered to the same school.

SO basically what I'm saying is that CC will be no different from a 4yr university...besides many ppl at universities don't always start there as their first year. There will be plenty of ppl who has transferred from their own CC as well.
