Heyy!

Not sure if this is in the right section, but our group has been doing a Secret Santa game. For those who don't know how the game works, basically, everyone's name is put in a hat, and everyone draws a name out of the hat. The person's name you draw, is the person you'll be a "Secret Santa" for. Basically, you just have to be the one to give them a Christmas Present.

During the period of time from when you get the person to when you have to exchange presents, you're supposed to give little clues (anonymously) to your person.

Today I received a very cryptic clue lol~ Was wondering if there are any smart, good at puzzles people here?

This is the clue (word for word, number for number)

1 Working and operating are continuous 7
9 Love it in a different way when it's free of damage 9
4 Appreciative that the fireplace is almost filled 8
6 Back the red ones going to the dogs 7
9 Just beginning to have a bearing on any original aroma 7

I have no idea what the numbers are for...so I started thinking maybe something to do with syllables?
