Does anyone own one? They look really nice, similar to a G37 except not as pricey. Can you owners tell me what you think of it so far? Reliability, gas, performance, etc
Mr. Chan
They're pretty good, bang for buck.

However, the v6 model wasn't able to touch me.

Great car in terms of HP for money.

A little lackluster in actual driving though. I'd prefer something with better handling, more response, you know. Something that makes me feel like I'm really driving something fun.

i really wanna get one... but i dont think they will be released in australia =[...
well not anytime soon anyway..

^apparently its coming to australia. there was an article on it

neighbor asked if my g37s was a genesis ....

its not that fun of a car to drive, along with the preemtive rev limiter which cuts your revs A LOT when you try to shift at redline.

Not bad and worth the money i guess...tho its still a Hyundai...

my brother has one and ive driven it several times. i think it looks really nice, it gets compliments all the time. it has a nice exhaust tone and comes well equipped i suppose. it definitely is a good valued car. it was 33k but we got it down to 28k with a lot of extra warranties and insurances (hookups from cousin whose hyundai manager in LA).

but performance wise im not sure. I have difficulty just having a good seating position and its a big car. feels big too handling wise. it's hard to see around some spots and its just not as easy to drive as my car. the rear seats are complete garbage because the roof is too low back there and the chairs are too high. my guess is the gas tank is right under the rear seats.

this is the 3.8 liter btw.

the genesis is a very good car for the money you're paying. especially for a rwd
still a Hyundai though.

RWD could be the reason for the cramped back seats.
hopefully the genesis rear seats can't be as bad as the g35.
Nobody ever wants to sit in the back of my g35

It's got the 4B11 engine, which the Evolution X has. All you have to make some changes and the possibilities are endless. The real question is how deep is your wallet?

4B11 and Theta II is pretty different from each other. Intake and exhaust manifolds, timing and other stuff are different when comparing the genesis and evo engine. Hyundai designed the basic blocks of the engine. Mitsu and Chrysler each uses a modified version of the Theta engine.

Same design, different components. Majority of components are swappable. It's a World Motor engine. Simple.

But they're not the "same" engine.

uhh...ok mellow.gif

note to self. The 4G63 in a Mitsubishi Evolution is not the same 4G63 in a Hyundai Sonata.

I like this car, especially the V6 version. My only gripe is with its weight. A V8 version would be nice...

Wait, so your gripe is the weight, yet you want a heavier engine?

Yeah that's exactly what I mean, although I can see how my comment may have come across as contradictory. I do a lot of highway driving so straight line performance takes preference over handling. The V6 struggles to trap above 100mph at the end of the 1/4 mile. The extra grunt of the V8 would more than make up for the added weight when it comes to acceleration.

I always wish I had a bigger engine when driving on highways *sigh
A turbo'd v6 would be sufficient for highway trolling. The VQ engines in the infiniti's and nissans are nice, imagine what they would be like turbo'd yesh.
