This idea just struck me while I was posting some reply a few minutes ago. (whut is randomness)
And I'm wondering how it feels like? To have an imaginary lover.
I mean, at the start, during "the relationship" and at the end.
If you've ever had an imaginary boyfriend (or girlfriend), how was it? How does it feel to have one?And how far have you gone with your imagination? (e.g. did you give him/her a name? etc?)
Did you base him/her on your crushes/object of infatuation recently?
And how long do you spend your time imagining him/her? (daily? xD)
I was actually thinking of having a diary to write on about my future (soon!) imaginary boyfriend. hahaha. (what is random hobby) Since I never got to have one yet, I just can't help but wonder, how is it to have one?
I know this is a random topic, but the idea just captured my interest. hahaha.
P.S. if there's already an existing thread with this topic, i didn't know, so you can just delete this one. I wont bite. ^^

Its quite a normal thing for human beings but I am just generalizing.
I dream of the perfect woman but the world does not work that way. I sometimes dream about how she acts, how she dresses, etc. I wished the world would work that way but it doesn't. All I can do is dream until I actually do find a S/O.

o.o; why would you want to do that? lol.
I remember back in middle school, some people would make up imaginary boyfriends
Even making fake email accounts and stuff.. it was kind of sad.
And for some reason, the guy's name was always Nick.
It was just soo obvious they didn't exist..
I don't know what people are thinking when they do that.

HAHAHAHA. do i have a story for you.
i was on the bart (it's like a train) on my way home and this guy comes and sits near me and asks me for the date. and i thought that was weird but i answered anyways and he kept on trying to make small talk. i could sense he was hitting on me. i wasn't interested. so i whip out my phone and pretended i was talking on the phone with a friend. when i got off the bart, i have to take a bus home. turns out he needs to go on the same bus cause we're from the same area. so i whip out my phone again and pretended to talk to my "boyfriend" Daniel. LOL. i tried to sound all lovey dovey like i miss you and stuff, have you eaten, so that this guy hears that i have a "boyfriend" so that he should back off. i was pretty specific in this conversation with my imaginary boyfriend i kid you not. so the story is that he's on his lunch break from work, eating a ham sandwich, and will be coming over to my house later that night cause i was home for the weekend to have dinner with my family and play games with my younger brother.
so YES. i've had an imaginary boyfriend, but within a span of like 30 minutes to avoid this guy that was hitting on me.

haha, interesting responses. xD
I know this idea's really strange, but it really piqued my interest. hahaha.
I remember James Patterson's novel, Sundays at Tiffany's, where the girl there actually had an imaginary friend and that imaginary friend eventually became real, then they lived happily ever after. I know I made it sound so fairytale-ish, but it's really a good read. hahaha.
Anyway, back to the point of this thread, that story of James Patterson is somewhat connected to this one. Haha. Only that in this strange idea I have, the imaginary person is not just a friend but a lover. hahahahhaa.
Damn. I know I sound so eccentric but the thought's quite new to me, and I'm quite interested in giving it a try. hahahaha. what is strange. xD
Anyhoo, to answer Velocitii's question, no, I am not an only child. haha.
I'm probably just looking into this idea since I haven't had any boyfriend since birth, and I don't plan of having one at least until I graduate (yes, I'm pathetic/nerdy/disciplined like that (whichever way you want to look at it)).
And I plan of writing some story about it. hahaha. Just like how James Patterson did (I am not saying he actually based his story on his childhood experience or anything)
I know there's some kind of danger to this kind of idea. My friend actually told me, when you already have a perfect boyfriend/girlfriend in your mind, it's going to be hard to find a real one. Because sometimes you may be blinded and not see Mr. Right because all this time, you might have just been looking for Mr. Perfect.
hahahahaha. okay, too much ranting.
P.S. AznBetty, I agree with you. Kwon TaeHyun, ftw! <3

Nov 6 2009, 07:25 PM
Making one up to get out of a sticky situation is one thing.
Otherwise, it's lonely people with an overactive imagination. The real problem comes is if they depend on this imaginary girlfriend/boyfriend as a vice, then they begin to lose sight of reality.

HAHA OP, don't feel bad. I had one!
Well, I had an imaginary bff in freshman year because I moved schools and I was so lonely. I had no friends, and I wasn't close to my friends back in my old school. It was just such a despairing situation and I felt so alone so I started a journal in which I talked about my imaginary best friend...
For some reason, he was Donghae from SJ. Of all kpop people. Honestly. Donghae wasn't even my favorite member... but out of my imagination, he was the most comfortable chillaxing conversationalist. It was like a WTF moment because a few weeks ago I found my old journal and I read it and it completely weirded me out. I am so unnecessarily strange.
...yes. Anyway, he was my bestie and we talked about everything. He would give me advice and all the stuff... although technically I was talking to myself.
Weird.

Once, I had a dream of a random guy. Heck, I don't even know
if he exist. But, in the dream, he was really sweet to me. So
the next few weeks, I kept thinking of him. I wonder if he's real.

And for the sake of it,
Who's Kwon Tae Hyun? Something about fanfic?
My advice, why don't you make a fic with you as the girl and the imaginary BF as the guy instead.

honestly, nothing has made me laugh more than this thread and the replies. sorry. at first i thought it was a joke but now that it's serious i feel bad in a way. not because i thought it was a joke, but because you're so set in a reality themed fairytale that i wonder how you'll handle it for real. if you're going to write a story about it, great. but don't have yourself fall in love with nothing but your own imagination...well best of luck to you..i guess ?

as long as you dont take it to the extreme, a story would be pretty cool i guess.
and by the extreme, lemme give you an example lol. someone i once knew, lied and said her "bf" was with her
she said this to her best friends who was her next door neighbors, when they look out the window,
they saw her sitting there, by herself. she was so totally busted lol
now no one believes her when she mentions a "bf" whom she loves,
because no one knows of his existence or whereabouts?
there's no proof of him, & their entire relationship is practically based on a kdrama.
now that's taking it wayy too far.

Nov 14 2009, 11:03 PM
It's good to have ideals. I formulated my 'ideal' from a mixture of experience and daydreams.
It becomes unhealthy when you invest in this 'relationship'... It's not worth it. It's not real. What you really need to invest in is a relationship with yourself - make sure you have some fun, but don't make yourself dependent on something.
I always remember, though, that no one is perfect. That your 'ideal' may keep you from dating poor suitors, but it doesn't mean people aren't going to hurt you. People are going to disappoint you - and sometimes the ones you love most, can be the ones you feel most hatred for...

I have heaps of imaginary boyfriends...hahaha...nah serious
I think there's just some of us who are too introvert to get a real talking person...I call out my imaginary friend when I feel tired...he would just sit around and ask how I am...I may sound crazy but i rather have this then a real boyfriend which I may have to supply too much time and effort on
to me imaginary boyfriends are great
ps: since I'm a college students this would save me time to study
maybe you guys are right I'm crazy, but its no one concerns I'm not hurting no one or myself.

it was great at first, dinner and movies with flowers by the bunches.
after we started dating, things slowed down and we were okay
but he lived too far in the back of my head, so we hardly got to see each other,
then after a while, he just became distant, and i would ask, but he wouldn't answer me.
i later found out he was cheating on me, after i had already created a new imaginary BF to love.
jerk, even my own imagination could cheat on me!
