Haha that will be totally fun, can imagine us fangirls screaming away like there's no tomorrow. But we'll have to save save save up for it, since we are all poor students

Ahh, all that drama with the competition of the tv stations. Nothing makes sense when it comes to power politics, does it? But i must admit that i'm a little peeved that all these is affecting a lot of the artistes out there (not just limited to LSG). In the end its us viewers who are affected since we dont get to see who we want to as often as we like. Hope the tension between the stations will ease soon, I really dislike the fact that power politics are so blatantly in the face when all we want is some good old entertainment.

Seems like a lot of you here miss LSG's old performances with all that power. For me, strangely enough, I kind of like his current renditions better precisely because they are more controlled. Though i do wish sometimes that he would inject more power into his current renditions. Its like a back and forth thing, sometimes i like the way things are now with his voice and sometimes i wish for his past renditions. Dont know how many of you feel like this too. But i'm with ivey79 on one point, no matter what, i still think his voice beats the others by miles and miles, and thus i remain an enthusiastic fangirl!! Oh and keep critiqueing, ivey79!! Its really interesting to read, and it also shows we are all sincerely interested in LSG, enough to keep analysing his singing:)

o51029 - Can't tell from your Mnet LSG vid what the #5 of it all was. I don't know what the whole MCM and LSG thing was about, but I came away a little annoyed with MCM. He tells the crowd to be good to our LSG, and then as he leaves, he tells the crowd that he only has one hit song, and then ignores LSG as they walk by each other. I feel like there's a second part that's missing to this...

Okay now:
Just watched 1N2D - the bunjee jump episode. I had read in the 1N2D forum about the 90 minutes and the controversy over religion and stuff so my interest was at an all time high! I have to say that I was disappointed that for whatever reasons, the episode was 90 minutes long. They DRAGGED OUT the bunjee jump part, especially with the LSG part. Frankly, being overprotective of LSG, I'm upset with the producers for showing LSG wasting TWO HOURS up there. You could tell they were doing it to fill time, and it irked me a little bit. I'm not at all disappointed with LSG not jumping --- I just wish he went over to EJW quicker. When they were at dinner, the producer asked them to talk more as they ate (so they can get more footage), which prompted LSGeun to say "are we even capable of talking right now when we haven't eaten in 14 hours?" Anyway, if they make 90 minute episodes from now on, I hope they don't feel stretched out like this...

Okay here are some highlights:
INTRO:
KHD announces they're at GyeongGiDo and starts yelling GiDoYaaaAH!
LSG - This (the shouting) has really become popular. The reason I know this is because I was driving to go work out...the gym parking lot was full so I asked the parking attendant - who was easily in his seventies - if I could park at a certain spot. The grampa wearily looks at me, then all of a sudden smiles like this and goes "SeungGiYaaaAH!!!" Really! Really!
MCM - (pretending to be the grampa) Oh I'm tired...SeungGiYaaaAH!

Guys have to play YOOT - wherever they land, they have to carry out that task before throwing the sticks again and advancing. Someone did a very nice job of explaining this and how it applies to the show in the 1N2D thread.
Finish a game of Yoot in 1N2D and get the camping truck!
Funny moment inside the camping car - MCM says "As soon as we get in SuGeun hyung is sitting in the driver's seat!" (haha)

GUYS GETTING SHOTS:
EJW - Is there any way we can take the vaccine in pill form?
LSGeun - Haha that's definitely a question that a schoolkid (choding) would ask.
MCM crying after getting the shot, and then wiping LSGeun with the alcohol swab (HA!)
As LSG gets his shot, EJW screams out "EW! Why is the needle going in so deep!"
LSGeun - Jiwon-ah, hurry up, I'll buy you ice cream. (Ha)
After all that babying, EJW gets up after the shot and gleefully goes, "All done!" (He lived up to his choding character very nicely)

ON THE WAY TO THE TEMPLE:
The guys talk about how they're going to decide who'll do the 108 bows.
EJW - Among us, who's Buddhist?
KHD - I'm Buddhist.
LSGeun - Me too.
EJW - Then one of you do it.
KHD - Jiwon you're Buddhist too it says in your bio.
EHW - I'm not! (He's just saying that because the subtitle says, "If I do 108 bows my back's going to snap...) (haha)
KHD - actually a lot of people do the 108 bows as exercise.
EJW - I'm healthy and young still...
KHD - Let's vote on who does it...I elect EJW.
EJW - WHY?
KHD - He might reflect on something...
EJW - You think that I'll do that?
KHD - ......that's why I choose EJW

Not sure what KimC says but I think he tells EJW to not get mad at LSG...
EJW - ...Think about it what is it to bow? As you bow, you settle your soul, get your mind right, and stuff like that but I don't have any thoughts of that sort (if I were to bow)!
He goes on and says something and then KHD says that going into the 108 bows without thinking anything and then reflecting on and realizing things while doing it is (partly) what it's all about.

KHD shows the pic of LSGeun without clothes, the toothbrush, and broken sunglasses and starts laughing and says, "Why does LSGeun have these things in his car?" (So random it was funny!)

As EJW keeps bowing, LSGeun says that the pride he feels for EJW today is of the utmost. (You can see the sincerity on LSGeun's face when he says this - so sweet).

MEANWHILE...KHD is messing around with the cute babies (HAHA!)
(When EJW completed the 108 bows and the guys all did the 108th one together - THAT WAS SO PRECIOUS - can someone please find a pic of that PLEASE????)

AS THEY WERE GETTING READY TO THROW THE STICKS AGAIN:
KHD - Before you throw the sticks, tell us about your 108 bows...tell us how differently you felt on the 10th, 50th, and 100th bows...
EJW - The first ten well I went into it without know anything so I was just thinking about hurrying up and getting to 108 but as I went along...IT MAKES AN EMPTY HEADED PERSON LIKE ME THINK ABOUT SOMETHING AT LEAST ONCE.
KHD - So what was that thought.
EJW - That 1N2D does well. Let's go a long way! (meaning "let the show run a long time") (Awww EJW so sweet!!!)

ON THE WAY TO THE BUNJEE JUMP PLACE:
KHD again elects EJW, but LSGeun elects LSG. EJW also elects LSG. KimC elects LSG.
MCM - Okay right now EJW has one vote, LSG has three, so if LSG and I both elect EJW, then it would be a tie between LSG and EJW, so we'd have to do something to break the tie.
KHD - Then we'll just decide over a game of rocks/papers/scissors...Life or death matters are resolved via rocks/papers/scissors... (HAHA).
Rather than setting up a tie between EJW and LSG, MCM elects LSG (funneee). KHD asks who LSG would have elected and LSG says "definitely not LSG." but then when asked again, LSG gives in and elects himself (hahaha). LSG tells KHD that he doesn't even know how to ride a bike (or maybe there's a roller coaster called Viking?)...
KHD - That's why it's going to be that much more fun!
KHD - We're you born a great singer?
LSG - No, definitely not.
KHD - You had to apply yourself to become Korea's best singer. There isn't a bunjee jumper who was born to bunjee jump.
LSG - Why do I have to apply myself to become a bunjee jumper! (SO FUNNY!)

AT THE BUNJEE JUMP PLACE:
EJW - Ah if it's this height I can do it too.
Someone asks EJW - "you're saying you can do it too?"
EJW - Sure if it's only this high. You didn't see me some time ago when I hurled through the air with the guys from Shinhwa? The guys from Shinhwa and I always used to bunjee jump.
(EJW later tells LSG and KHD that he was making all this up so that he can give LSG some confidence --- he really never bunjee jumped before --- too funny!)

WHEN LSG IS GETTING JUMPING INSTRUCTIONS:
KHD jokingly tells the guys to give LSG some encouragement and strength, as this could be the last time they see him.
LSG - We're going to be able to see each other again!
KHD - Of course!
LSG - Okay. Let me go up there once to check things out.
KHD - Since there isn't much space up there, EJW and I will go up with him, so the rest of you bid him farewell.
LSG - Aish what do you mean farewell we're going to see each other again.
LSGeun - it's going to be over soon SeungGiya
MCM - I GUESS THE STORY ABOUT SEUNG GI LEAVING IS TRUE!
KHD starts laughing and says, "It's not because of Iljimae that he's leaving but because of this!" (Think it's safe to say that he'll be leaving...)

BUNJEE:
KIMC - How awesome was he? OMG I luuuuuuVVVVVV him!!!!!! AND he was able to throw the sticks so that they move just one space - which allowed them to eat AND make a shortcut in the Yoot game. And later when they're all eating, KimC is SO SWEET as he hands over the choice meat that KHD gave him over to LSG. KimC is caring for his younger brothers but also, he probably felt sympathy for LSG, as he agonized for two hours about taking the leap. KimC FIGHTING!!!

I felt bad for EJW because you could tell that in his heart, he really wanted to do it to save LSG but couldn't do it (you could see how EJW got teary after KimC jumped - he must have been so proud and relieved!!!). I'm glad that he didn't take TWO HOURS to give up, and also glad he didn't do it because as LSG says later in the car on the way to the restaurant:
KHD - SeungGiya, how did you feel when Jiwon couldn't follow through with the jump?
LSG - Truthfully? I was very thankful. The thought that there was another person who could understand what I was feeling - I felt bad, but I was SO thankful.
KHD - ....if everyone couldn't do it and it got around to me to try to complete the mission...it killed me to think about it! (HAHA)

Mmmm, think that's it. Just fast-forwarding here...
There's one space on the board that says that you have to go to Jejudo Island for something, so since that takes a long time, they decide to throw the sticks before they go to bed because if they do land there, then someone has to leave NOW. They decide to play rocks/paper/scissors to see who throws the sticks (and POSSIBLY head out to Jejudo). Just for laughs, they decide that whoever WINS r/p/s should be the one to throw the sticks. When EJW and MCM lose, EJW wants to go wash up but KHD says they should stick around for the throwing of the sticks and stuff. Anyway, KHD says something to EJW that I thought was so cute and funny, and ultimately sweet (so KHD):
KHD - Aishh...when he's around I get annoyed, when he's not around I get concerned! (Hahaha)

Not just because he looks out particularly for Seung Gi, but I respect people who take action over words. He's just an all around good guy with a great soul. I hope whatever ailment he had previously is gone now. He does look much healthier now than before. I agree with you on the stretching the bunjee thing. Even without understanding, I found it cruel and painful to watch Seung Gi agonize like that and for sooo long. Poor boy, DID look like he was about to cry. It was probably ironic the relief he felt when Jiwon said he'd do and then again when he didn't. The things you do for ratings =)

eequeezee thanks soo much for the translations! I agree with you on the subbed episodes, they're really not the best subbing out there. Plus they cut out all the fun parts from the schoolkids episodes, which kinda irked me. Anyway, with regards to your question about the bike, its not that LSG cant ride a bike (incidentally, there is an amusement ride that the koreans call Viking, some kind of ship ride thing according to my teacher), he's actually referring to how he hasnt taken the thrilling type of rides in amusement parks, and so how's he gonna be able to do the bungee jump? Anyway, there was another part in ths bungee espisode that eequeezee didnt mention which i thought was pretty funny. After EJW takes over LSG's challenge, KHD goes over to talk to an extremely relieved looking LSG. It was really funny, how LSG was thanking KHD and grasping his hands to his forehead.
KHD: So I guess you will sign a lifetime contract with us after this?
LSG: Oh! Of course! Pass the contract please!
Then LSG prepares to put his thumbprint on the camera.
KHD: LSG, until you pass on, until your children...

Funny!! He was so relieved that he just sold himself and his future 5 generations. And this little part came back to haunt him in this week's episode too, when they were preparing to sleep. Ahh, someone really kind uploaded this week's episode onto youtube on sunday night itself, and i was up till 2am watching them! This week's episode is pretty good too, lots of LSG moments. Because You're My Woman. Looks like one of the earliest M!Countdown perfs by LSG. Exceptional job. ivey79, it is a coincidence that mine and o51029's posts are one after another. Noticeable difference in the renditions. It could very well be sung by two different singers, yeah? LSG's current perfs of this oldie are, honestly, lackluster sometimes. I agree that the style is different now. But it's not only a new vocal style, it's like the passion (for the song, i mean) is somewhat waning. This is his bread-and-butter song. I can understand that it's hard to find inspiraton to sing a something that has been rehashed many times over. Plus, he's older now so the interpretation of the song is different. Unlike before, his audience has become younger. So the song's meaning is changed. That's why I still love this version over any other.

I found this older clip of Lee Sun Hee and LSG dueting (is that a word?) the song "To J". Too bad the file is cut off at the end. A lovely arrangement that Ms. Lee really took off with. Poor Seung Gi, he was not even in the same league. I wonder what LSH think of Seung Gi's career at this point. Especially of his recent popularity surge and the way he handles his fame. While I was watching the LSG bungee non-jumping moment, I was thinking: Wow, this looks so much like the "Vacation" MV. That was a lot of LSG minutes ... for a total let-down. I'm not passing judgment on his choice of not jumping, I just thought that it was not very good editing on 1N2D's part. I know ratings mean ... everything. But, that was too much time focused on LSG. It's a good thing that all his costars are generous beings who allowed him to take the bulk of the spotlight these days. Once again, questionable marketing by KBS.

Here I am..back again. Just can't seem to get away from this thread Just finished watching 1n2d and had to come and share a few thoughts. This was a pretty good ep too even with all that talking that I didn't understand. Funny to see the first third of the show devoted to washing up and waking up. I couldn't believe they put a camera in the bathroom though. I literally dropped my mouth when I saw BOTH Seung Gi and MC Mong showering together. LOL. Koreans really have a totally differnt level of comfort when it comes to bathing don't they? Hee hee. Loved how Seung Gi in the background had his mouth hanging wide open drinking the shower water while MC Mong was hamming it up in front of the camera. Oh, the things these guys do to get ratings. My gosh. Naked. On TV! There funny moments too. Seung Gi and his beautifying routine...toning, whitening, and whatever else he does with the third bottle. He keeps himself pretty that's for sure. And the poor boy really didn't get much sleep this round. Neither did Jiwon or KimC either I think. I can't stand snoring either so I sympathize. I had a question too. Why do they keep saying "Call!"? What's the joke about this bit? Thanks for whomever can clarify.

Bedifferent, thanks for all the links too. I saw the one with LSH couple nites ago and yeah... poor boy didn't even know where to step in. He looked a bit lost and left behind. Nowadays, he could've jumped in mid-performance and be right in step, no probs. That's experience for ya. And passion... that's actually interesting because I get the sense that where his passion lays has changed too. I coudn't really pinpoint it, but now that you mention it I think in the past his focus has always been on the song itself. The music, his voice, the emotions in the song. He literally sang his heart out. I think now days, he's changed a bit where the stage performance and his own showmanship has taken more of the the lead. Not sure if I'm getting my point across, but I feel as if he's putting the emphasis more on himself vs the song. He's a lot more popular than he used to be and maybe even unkowingly to himself, he doesn't have to try as hard as he used to to impress his listeners. He's gotten comfortable and maybe even feeling a little lax? Well, that maybe too severe. Just a thought. There's definitely going to be a lot of changes and progression over his career cause he is so young. I am curious to see where his voice will go next. With the filming of the drama coming up he's going to be on a long break from singing. I'm sure he'll keep up with voice practice, but it'll be interesting to see his next comeback and see what direction he will take next. Ok, this is really premature, but I'm already thinking about his next album. I'm really hoping for a change. Ballad king or not, the boy has great range and I'd like to see him explore other music. R&B? That would be totally unexpected, but suits my taste =)

Oh, and I agree with you on the look too. 3rd album promo clothes rocked. Elegant suits, sweaters, REAL fashionable ties and neckwear. One of my fav looks for him just because he wears such clothing INCREDIBLY well. I remember he went on a talk show (don't ask me which cause can't remmber) and he wore these fitted black jean/pants with a purple dress completely tucked in with a black belt and I just coudn't help but stare at him. Tall and elegent, he oozed class. And the legs... OH the legs... They went on forever. =) Ok, need to pick up my drool here. hee hee. But yeah, miss seeing Seung Gi all GQ too. What happened to that stylist? Must of left before this album...

ivey79 Yea, Koreans are quite different when it comes to bathing. I watched this documentary once, and it said that because clean water was hard to come by/expensive (cant remember the exact reason) in the past, they resolved the problem by building public baths (the ones we see so often in dramas). And because these public baths became really popular and sprung up almost everywhere, bathing has sort of evolved into a culture with Koreans, and they are largely comfortable with showering together with people they are close to (or people they are not close to also for that matter, i mean, just look at the situation in public baths..). It took me some time to get used to the idea that over there, they are ok with bathing with each other too. I must say that the producers are really doing everything to get footage of the boys. Planting a camera in the bathroom!!! OK, so we dont exactly see them fully in the nude but i thought the program was supposed to be family friendly. Well, not that i'm complaining, since the scene was hilarious. And yes, i feel really sympathetic for LSG. He seems to be a really light sleeper, and it looks like to me that he doesnt really sleep well/alot every week. The part where MCM put his leg on Seung Gi's belly was so comical. Its the second time already, the first time I remember MCM sleeping on LSG's belly.

All right, I said I'd be back after watching this week's ep, and here i am! Not going to summarise the whole ep though, I'll leave that to our dear eequeezee, since one of the highlights of my week is reading her summaries. Just going to pick out a few of my favourite moments Since I'm still pretty new to the language, I'd appreciate it if any of you point out any mistakes i make!

In the bathroom
MCM: Why is the hot water not working?
LSG: Oh, why's it not working? Was it not working from just now?
MCM: I'll just get the water from here.
And he picks up this cup and starts splashing water on his head. Its really funny, the bathroom scene, the two of them look like they are bathing to prepare to take a mugshot or something. I think LSG tries getting the hot water out from the shower again after that and he succeeds and realises its because they turned the shower knob the wrong side or something, and he says something like 'look the hot water is totally hot!' Ahhh.. so funny! Then MCM just starts doing his whole shampoo hair routine for the camera while LSG is gargling shower water in the background after that, and nearly chokes on it upon hearing one of MCM's wisecracks. This was really a classic scene..

While preparing to sleep
LSG shares his skincare routine with MCM. The whitening part made me think of the episode of Sang Sang Plus where LSG was a guest and he mentioned how he cares most about the whitening part in his skincare regime. I guess he knows as well as we do that maintaining a pretty face takes a lot of work, not to mention products LSG then mentions something about how its time to sleep but he cant sleep. Just at this time, the PD passes him something.
LSG: What's this? Wait a minute, what's this again~!!
The PD pushes a piece of paper and an inkpad across to him, while he just stares open mouthed at them. Flashback to the bungee platform where LSG sells himself out.
LSG: Aiyoo, suddenly i feel so tired

LSG completes his contract and starts scribbling furiously on another piece of paper, while KHD and LSGuen are in the background enjoying the eggs they just boiled. Enter KimC beside LSG.
KimC: What did you do wrong again? A contract for 5 generations?! Hey do you know what it means to be bound to the contract for 5 generations?

Oh this conversation had me rolling on the floor. I love KimC!! His laymen's explanation for 5 generations was so side-splitting! Anyway, LSG finishes his scribbling on the other piece of paper and it turns out that he was writing EJW's contract (the 50 years thing), and he tried to get EJW to sign it saying 'ah, let's just do a double together!' . Of course, EJW refuses to do it, and asks LSG not to go around signing things in future. Gosh, their exchanges can be so hilarious sometimes.

While in the middle of playing the game, a small girl walks up to LSG with a piece of paper for him to sign, and the guys go crazy behind him.
KHD: Give Seung Gi oppa a kiss!

Only in LSG's case, he's waddling like a cutie duck down the aisle with his bride. Haha, LSG's really come a long way, hasnt he? from charming those noona's out there to becoming a cradle snatcher. Ahh, this must be my favourite part of the whole ep. So so so so cute! Kids really seem to love him, whether its a boy or girl, dont they?

KHD: Tired, Seung Gi yah? Are you tired? Look at this then. (holds up LSGuen's 'nude' shot)
Everyone starts laughing.
EJW: Seung Gi yah, are you tired?
LSG: Yea, I'm tired.
EJW takes off his specs suddenly and makes a face that cracks up KHD and LSG totally. ahhh, our eun cho-ding is really so cute sometimes. KHD loves the face EJW makes so much that he asks him to pose for his camera, and keeps giggling at the picture he took saying that its really cute, even kissing it at a point, which really shocks EJW. Haha!

ivey79: IMHO, you are spot-on in your analysis of Seung Gi's focus. I think it reflects the dilemma of a multi-entertainer in general. His interests are divided these days. (I guess we should be thankful that he's given the opportunity). One on hand, it is commendable that he is able to branch out and be successful in more than one entertainment field. However, we can't expect LSG to maintain the same level without a serious commitment for vocal training. It's true that he is still a cut above many other young singers out there for his remarkable versatility and capability. Except for a few, his live performances have less of a WOW-oh-my-god effect on me these days. Like you've mentioned, it could be due to less time devoted to singing/training and more on acting and performing. Yup, i never thought i would say this; but, LSG has become an entertainer (hahaha... pun on word intended!). Before, he sells the performance with his singing ability - it's all about the song. Now, he also sells the performance with his delivery of the song; his stage performance. The focus has shifted to LSG the performer. The song has turned into an instrument to see another LSG performance on stage. He places a lottttt more emphasis on his image these days (on and off-stage). In addition, the audience now becomes an integral part of his popularity so the performance is more catered to them. Thus, we see more of a "fan-servicing" stage presentation. Part of me is happy for his success, the other idealistic liberal democratic Californian cringes every time he goes into his emo performance mode these days. I'd love it more if he puts more heart into some songs instead of just cruising along with another so-so perf. Cause I know he can. Seriously, I can only hope that the passion for singing is not completely lost somewhere along the road to success. Sarangaia-unnie, I am REALLY impressed with your ability to understand and translate Korean! I am so WOWed. I didn't speak a word of Korean (not a SINGLE word) until I was 9 (about 8 years ago). I went to Korea for the first time, fell in love with everything, so went to Korean school, watched a lot of Korean TV, and started speaking ONLY Korean with my mom and relatives. Sounds like the episode was fun as always! Can't wait to watch it! The stuff about promising his next 5 generations to the show or whatever: I couldn't for the life of me understand what he was pledging to KHD up there... What exactly is he committing too? Having watched that part again, I have to say I'm a bit annoyed. Here's why:
LSG didn't jump - again that's FINE. But what irks me is how he tells EJW to relax and jump, and that it'll be over in a second. He said this jokingly I know, but he says this after spending TWO HOURS up there... That's why I wished the producers made it seem like LSG gave up A LOT quicker, because then when he says what he said to EJW, it would actually be funny instead of irritating. In addition, this whole contract stuff (which obviously carries over to this latest episode) is kinda annoying because if he does indeed leave the show, then what is all this contract stuff about??? I don't think it's the case here, but remember how he signed a 15 or 20 year contract with the show a few months back? Again, I know it's all in jest... I guess I don't really get the humor in it, AND I'm extra sensitive about him leaving the show. ANYHOO...

B-unnie - I am beginning to really believe that you have psychic abilities... Last Summer, I helped out graduate students at USC's film school as part of my humanities program --- it was interesting, and I learned a lot, but I HATED IT. Being on a set is the most restless and boring thing EVER.

Hey Sunlight! I didnt really like the Champange episode either, they were just bumming around talking about nothing much in particular. Dont be sad, i think he's probably just being diplomatic saying that. After all, our boy is nice and polite, and that's just something pleasant to say to make Tiff happy, I guess. Anyway the stuff they they say and do on such varieties are meant to be taken with a pinch of salt, so dont be too sad watching it. I think your reading is really good in comparison to mine! I'm really slow at reading korean, more comfortable listening to it. I just follow what my mom told me when i was young and struggling with chinese. She said i cant learn a language properly if i'm always translating in my head whats being said to english. I think that was really sound advice. So when i listen to korean, I try not to translate it to any other language in my head and i try to understand it as korean purely. It really helps since they talk so fast, its an uphill task if i try to listen to them and translate it in my head to english and then process the meaning. Maybe you can give it a try. These days, i listen almost exclusively to korean when I'm alone. Songs, varieties, dramas.. anything to improve myself.

eequeezee Good luck for your finals! Ahh.. the mac is really great in many aspects except when it comes to these downloading stuff, since most of the links out there work better on windows. Was there anything interesting in that 5+ minutes of chit-chat with the host? Sorry for the low quality video. It was originally flv format. Update on Iljimae: It’s fully on, guys; especially when LJK’s Iljimae is doing quite well ratings-wise. News from the drama thread: LSG’s version remains tentatively to start in November- Wed/Thurs timeslots. Looking at other dramas released at that time, the only one that may affect him is Kingdom of the Winds. Big budget, big stars, big drama. So I think that our guy might be ok. It’s going to depend on his acting abilities and obviously, the production. Incidentally, the scriptwriters names were also released. It’s not a surprise that we see the Goong team reunites for this project (PD/scriptwriter). I ‘m a bit iffy on the scriptwriter though. Did not see Goong S but heard that it paled in comparison with the original one. The more I read about this, the more hopeful I am. I’m crossing my fingers (and toes) for a fun drama, guys. MBC is remaking Ko Woo-yeong's famous comic "Iljimae". Lee Seung-gi, who is the main character, will show the original with sadness, humor, and satire. Although Lee Seung-gi has less acting experience than Lee Joon-ki, Lee Seung-gi is currently very popular, so the battle for ratings is still unknown. 


If Lee Joon-ki's 'Iljimae' starts with the personal desire to avenge his family's death, Lee Seung-gi's 'Iljimae' shows decisive opposition for social discrimination and exploitation. As the original comic mixes fantasy, Lee Seung-gi acts as the hero that everyone wants more than staying faithful to a historical background.

Iljimae, who comes back from studying abroad, realizes the true situation of exploited Chosun, and becomes a chivalrous robber to help the people, and the producers will insert many episodes from the original.

The producing company, Jipi Workshop, of MBC "Iljimae" started producing after receiving the copyright after battling for it against Green Snake Media last February. They began filming in March, and the staff is looking around the whole nation to find a traditional house, a river, a cave, and mountains to set the stage for the drama.

Presently, MBC plans for 24 episodes of 70 minutes each, and they are targeting to air by the end of the year. The reason why they are focusing on organization more than ever is because it is rare for two broadcasting companies to have two dramas with the same name and similar stories in the same year.

Jipi Workshop is remaining faithful to the script and even requested certification of the storyline from Green Snake Media to protect the original work.

Lastly, all this talk about LSG’s anniversary brings back good memories for me. The first time is always special, yah? Your first kiss, your first boyfriend, the first time you learned to drive, the first time you tasted a Krispy Kreme donut and realized how bad it is for your health but also so good that you stole your girlfriend’s portion and chowed it down in one big bite… Uhh, maybe not the last part. But you get the idea. I remember the first time that I heard Seung Gi sings. I was browsing through Popseoul (yes, that bad but also so addicting blog) and saw an embedded YT clip of the “Thunder” collaboration between LSG and FT Island. Boy, was I blown away with the voice. And yes, he was pretty darn smexy in that clip too (haha). So I was hooked, came over to this side of Soompi and was never the same. Now, several LSG-avatar and siggy later, I’m posting clips of the guy on YT late at nite. Oh noes, is that good or bad? How about you guys? Anyone care to share your first LSG-moment?

bedifferent This UCC chart didn't have "Vacation".Just the scene "Mong ahh!!" in 2 days 1 night 's wake up song is No.1 on this chart.I think this scene when they're wake up in the morning and the song has Ho Dong ajossi's voice "Mong ah!Mong ah!Mong ah" to wake up Mongie,and Seung Ki's "I'll give my all" has Ho Dong ajossi's voice:"Seung Gi ahhhhhhh!" and "I'm scared when i'm alone ":lol: .This part is in 2 days 1 night May 04 ^^

Yep, like Sunlight said, LSG's Vacation is not on the list. I went to check out the article and the last chart had his 'You in my memories' in 8th place and if I'm not wrong it was 5 places up from the previous week. And on the 1st chart Mong's 'Circus' is in 5th place. The show is sure helping to promote their music!

By the way, I watched Goong S. To be more accurate, I watched what i could tolerate of Goong S, and if the Iljimae script turns out anywhere near it.. I shudder. The acting was nothing to rave about, and some of the lines in the drama really gave me goosebumps. I'm hoping the drama wont come across as trying too hard, like Goong S did.. To be honest, I'm still not very enthusiastic about LSG participating in a period drama for his first big role since I've never really been into korean period dramas. Hope his drama will change my opinion though...

The first impression i had of LSG wasnt all that fantastic, since I first saw him being a spoilt mama's boy in his seven princesses drama. By some twist of fate, I heard him sing for 5 seconds in the drama and i was wowed, thinking "This actor can sing!" That same day, I stumbled upon an Xman cut of him singing 'My Love' to Chaeyeon. It was an amazing unplugged voice! So i googled him the next day and wikipedia led me to his discography, and it was off to youtube to search for his 'You are my woman'. I still remember it was 14 February this year and i was in school, and there were all these annoying couples swooning all around me since it was valentine's day, and i was feeling really exasperated, when his voice blasted strong, loud and clearly into my earphones and made me sit up straight, grinning widely. Oh that voice! I'll never forget that feeling. It was like OH MY GOODNESS! I've found the voice I've always been looking for!! The funniest thing is that i recently realised that wasnt my first time listening to LSG. My sister was clearing out the recorded audio files in her old mp3 player when she discovered there was a recording of LSG's Words that are hard to say. We thought back and realised the file was recorded almost 3 years back, off the local radio station which devotes an hour on Sundays to Kpop and Jpop. I was out late and asked my sister to record the program, and when i got back to listen to the song, i was dead tired. But even then, I liked the song a lot and asked my sister to keep the file for me to listen to, but we forgot all about the file after that. Life is funny sometimes, isnt it? Even though i forgot all about the file, I still managed to discover him 3 years on, and here I am, a loyal fan. I'm so glad that I found this great voice after all, and its a big bonus that he's cute and a great entertainer to boot

I take back everything negative I've said about you Seung Gi (for now) cause that bit you did just blew me away. So unexpected really. The clothes was young and fun and this rock version is just perfect. Love the shirt, the torn up jeans and black wristband. I think this is truly the first time I've seen him on a music show looking this young. He looks his age. I'm glad he's been performing this song live for a while, cause he's singing it with ease and comfort, not rehearsed. When he was pointing his finger and pumping the air with his hand I wanted to jump in and wave right back! This is by far my favorite performance of his since comeback. Looks, sound, everything. Ok, have I spazzed enough? LOL. Please let him continue like this for a while longer.

Yeah, I saw the latest sub 1n2d too. They did cut a lot out cause there were parts I was waiting for the subs to come out so I could get what they were saying. But even that said, I laughed and smiled till my cheeks hurt. To see them is good, but to understand them is wonderfull. Ji Won is such a wonderfull punk. No wonder he'll always be "kid Ji Won". Seung Gi was so cute singing for money and random food. Those girls that got to him were darn lucky. I love this show. No wonder this show is getting such good ratings. It's so spontaneous! A true reality show.

Unfortunately, I'm unable to capture SBS-R (and MBC-R and probably KBS-R) programs. I tried it before for SBS but the file came out to be over 1 GB (yes, as in gigabytes!) and I couldn't even play it after it was completed! MBC-R I tried to download Tablo's radio show when LSG was on it and they're protected and I can't play those files either >_< Wish I knew what program others use to capture these cuz mine doesn't.

As for my LSG moment , I was watching some of coolsmurf's clips of Xman (of course game still the best) for YEH (not LSG) and eventually moved on to their clips of other people. Then finally I got hooked on his actual music, videos and performances through Vanny's youtube channel. It's very rare that I obsess over someone, but something about LSG's personality drew me into Korean music (not just Korean music, but POP/Ballad music) over every other singer that appeared in Xman.

최근 김지수는 KBS 2TV '상상플러스-시즌2'에 출연해 "'1박 2일'을 즐겨본다"며 "만약 1박 2일' 여자팀이 생긴다면
나도 꼭 출연하고 싶다"는 의사를 밝혀 예능프로그램 출연에 은근한 욕심이 있음을 보여줬다.

탁재훈과 함께 같은 영화를 촬영하다가 도중하차했던 경험 때문인지 녹화 시작부터 탁재훈과 티격태격하며 그동안 볼 수 없었던 막강 입담과 재치를 자랑한 김지수는 "탁재훈을 통해 신정환이 너무 재미있는 사람이라고 이야기를 많이 들었다"며 "너무 궁금해 꼭 한번 만나고 싶었다"고 말해 신정환에 대한 호감을 드러내기도 했다.

또 팔씨름을 자신의 개인기로 꼽은 이하나와 팔씨름 대결에서 이기며 평소 약해보였던 이미지와는 다른 강한 모습까지 보여주기도 했다.

일본에서 진행될 '일지매'의 첫 촬영은 일지매가 일본에서 무술수업을 받는 장면과 고국 조선으로 돌아오는 장면이 될 것으로 전해지고 있다.

'일지매'는 1975년부터 1977년까지 '일간스포츠'에 인기리에 연재됐던 만화로 고우영 화백은 '탐관오리의 재물을 털어 백성을 도운 일지매라는 도둑이 그만의 톡특한 상징인 매화 한가지를 붉게 찍어 놓았다'는 단 한 줄의 역사기록을 바탕으로 3년동안 오로지 작가의 자료조사와 상상력으로 연재를 이끌어갔다.

황인뢰 PD가 차기작으로 결정한 '일지매'는 2년여간의 검토를 거친 끝에 드라마 제작사 지피워크샵에서 정식으로 판권을 구입, 2008년 말 안방극장에 상륙하게 됐다.

이번 작품은 '여자는 무엇으로 사는가' '창 밖의 태양은 빛났다' '연애의 기초' 등 한국 멜로드라마의 새로운 패러다임을 만들었으며, '궁' 시리즈를 통해 드라마 미술의 수준을 한단계 업그레이드 시켜놓았다고 평가받는 황인뢰 PD의 새로운 행보라는 점에서 관심이 높아지고 있다.

Now I'll be able to change my wallpaper every month You are right, the performance is more toned down on comparison to those absolutely animated university performances we've been seeing. One thing i've been wondering though, why did they lower the key for this performance? Its around a semitone lower than that of the studio recorded version and the other live performances. That was the first thing that i noticed when watching the performance last night, and it struck me as strange, but I was too high watching the performance to bother. Now that I've had time to calm down and listen to the performance carefully, i think the lower key actually made this performance calmer and more toned down than the previous few, because he didnt have to exert himself too much, it was a very comfortable range for him. Well anyway, he sounded clean and precise (and effortless, as usual) so i'm pretty happy. I just love his whole getup in this performance, he looks so young and lively! OOH!~

Sunlight Thanks for the article. Its heartening to hear that his participation on 1N2D will not be affected. Considering how their trip usually gets split into 2 episodes for airing, I think it might be possible for him to squeeze in time to return to film for a couple of days or a week for each of the two episodes of 1N2D while filming Iljimae. I'm sure they'll work something out for him, since the management would probably want to capitalise on how the show is making him wildly popular. I'm just not too sure about how he's going to shuttle back and forth Japan and Korea for that. Boy, it'll be tiring for him while it lasts. My heart really goes out to artistes whenever i read about stuff like this, there's so much pressure from all sides. In LSG's case its to continue with the variety for the audience and to film the new drama due to prior commitment to it. Sigh.

sarangaia, I agree. After the initial knee jerk reaction has subsided, my impression was similar to yours. The pitch is slightly lowered. Not as technically-wowed as some of the earlier live versions (for comparison, like this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sF6WD_cuOhE&feature=user). It still is a great awesome debut. I don't know why but the lowered pitch worked. Instinctively, it went well with the rock-and-roll feel of the band and the outfit. Perhaps the perf is conservative because it was televised and/or was a K-chart debut perf. I actually like this toned down delivery more. Sure, girl, there are definitely some room to make this song rocks even more (if you can believe it).

With that said, guys .... You have to excuse the rant in the next paragraph or so. I can't help it.

That's madness. That's crazzyy. That's the loony-iest thing that I've ever heard. Filming Iljimae AND 1N2D at the same time. Have you gone soju-drinking near the Han river lately, Seung Gi's manager? Have you been well? 'Cause you sound a bit off with this decision. (Hey, remember, this is my own personal rant time, so bear with me, ). We're not talking about filming a romantic comedy or Sang Sang Plus here. These are two physically demanding shows with their own crazy schedules. It's a “semi-historical drama” with possibly many action scenes being filmed in multiple locations with costume and set changes. On top of that, also promoting an album and a new digital single (with its music shows, radio, etc... perfs). I don't know how brilliant (or brilliant-less as sarangaia have feared) the script is – but I'd figure that the leading men would be burdened with most of the filming scenes. Sure, you can film the majority of the prep background scenes now but inevitably, you will have at some point, film the drama as it is airing. Unless the Iljimae's production crew is so efficient that no last-minute changes are needed, LSG will have to be totally involved for this to work. If you half-assed this production, it would be a mockery for both MBC and LSG. I sense that they are taking the route of trying to finish the majority of Iljimae before the airing date so that LSG would not have to compromise his commitment to 1N2D. Brilliant move? Not.

To the 1N2D production, I'm sorry but feel slightly disappointed at their decision. I also think that LSG is involved so this is not totally directed at them entirely. I'm disappointed at how little faith they have in their OTHER five stars. Seriously, LSG is not 1N2D. There are the other five absolutely lovely beings who can more than capable of making the show work. Give the poor guy the hiatus that he needs to fulfill this prior promise. Fill in with a rotating guest. It seems that there are plenty of people who would jump a a chance if is asked. Brainstorm some ideas. Anything. Seriously, have some faith in us, the viewers, yeah? We might have tuned in because of LSG. Yet, I know I personally stayed because of the show's charm and heart.

To the Iljimae production, I'm also disappointed that the problem is being ironed out this way. I remember ivey79 once commented that she liked the way LSG's career is going; that it has always felt natural and never forced. Well, this one felt forced to me. Sheesh. I don't understand. Maybe, it's just me. What's the big deal with Iljimae? Especially since SBS's version has already stolen the spotlight for airing first. It seems that it's a very expensive gamble just for a bragging right. MBC seems to have a lot to loose. (Well, I do understand that LSG popularity should be capitalized - so they're not letting this one go for sure). Can we just scrap this drama and find another one for LSG to be in? Can we? And in the mean time, MBC, throw in a couple of bonus performances on Music Core while you're at it. Please. I'd totally love you for that.

I understand LSG's decision for trying to balance both shows at the same time. 1N2D is his security net if Iljimae ever fails. I just don't know whether a partial commitment will pay off at the end. For either of these shows. As much as I love for him to succeed in his career, I just don't like this exhausting borderline-anorexic-look that I've seen lately. At the end, I'll support his decision but I reserve the right not to like it. One thing for sure, he IS one of the hardest working 21-year old that I've ever seen. Sigh.
