^I swear I think its that episode when Lee Seunggi, HyunJoong and JungMin of SS501, Brian, Chun MyungHoon, etc, came out, so the date should be. . . according to the SS501 site I checked, it says Feb. 19. 2006. But it says 녹화, at the end and I have no idea what that means. I'll edit this post once I find the exact date.^^

문제아로 연기 변신을 한다지만, SW가 만난 ‘청년 이승기’는 천상 모범생이었다. 바쁜 일정 가운데 가진 인터뷰였지만, 그는 시종일관 흐트러짐 없는 모습을 보였다. ‘의젓하다’는 표현이 가장 적절하다고 할까. 21살이라는 어린 나이를 무색케하는 차분한 말투와 예의바른 태도를 보고 있노라면 절로 드는 생각이다.
‘모범생’이라는 별명에서 알 수 있듯, 그는 매사에 최선을 다해왔다. 그렇다고 깍쟁이 스타일의 이기적 모범생 이미지는 아니다. 중학교 재학 당시 전교 1등을 한 바 있고, 고등학교 때도 전교 등수에서 수위를 다퉜다. 그러면서도 상계 고등학교 전교 학생회장을 하는 등 말 그대로 모범생의 길을 걸어왔다.
당 시엔 공부가 그냥 재밌었다. 지금 돌이켜보더라도 공부는 가장 쉬운 일이었다. “제 자랑은 아니지만, 연예인 활동을 하면서 생각해보니까 공부가 가장 쉬운 것 같다는 느낌이 들어요. 그땐 재밌어서 열심히 했는데, 사회생활을 좀 해보니까 가장 쉬운 게 공부 같아요.”
아직 공부에 대한 미련은 남았다. 지난해 동국대학교 사회학부에 입학한
이승기 는 올해 신문방송학을 전공으로 택할 생각이다. 정치외교학을 공부하고 싶다는 생각도 했지만, 욕심인 것 같아서 지금 하고있는 방송일과 연관된 전공을 택한 것이다.
공 부뿐만 아니라, 자기 관리 측면에서도 이승기는 보기 드물게 바른 생활을 하고 있다. 젊은 친구라면 요즘 끼고 사는 것이 휴대전화나 컴퓨터. 그러나 이승기는 흔하디 흔한 휴대전화도 없다. 인터넷도 거의 하지 않는다. 매니저가 “이 친구는 컴맹”이라면서 농을 던진다. 누가 못하게 하거나, 소속사에서 관리해서가 아니다. 본인 스스로 일 외적인 부분에 관심을 갖게 될까봐 일부러 피하는 것이다. 사실 휴대전화나 미니홈피 등을 통해 또래 연예인들과 어울리고 싶지만, ‘아직은 자기 계발을 할 때’라는 생각이 더 크다.
온라인보다는 오프라인을, 요행보다는 노력을 선호하는 진중한 청년이 이승기의 본래 모습이 아닐까.
모든 것이 숨가쁘게 변하는 현대사회에서 오프라인 감성을 지닌 그의 모습은 ‘차 한잔의 휴식’같이 편안하게 다가온다.

He was first in his entire class in middle school, and in high school, although he wasn't first, he was an extraordinary student... he was even student body president... which shows he was kind of a geek, but that did have friends and didn't keep to himself... He says in this interview that school and studying came naturally to him... it was fun, and easy... that's why he was so good at it and put his best effort in school, it was fun for him... he says that when he reminiscences back to his school years and compares it with acting and singing, he says that studying was much easier... He says that in college, 동국대학교 (Dong Kook University), presently he's studying social sciences, but that he may switch to tv or newspaper journalism... although he likes his other major and it's easy for him, he says that he's selfish in the way that he wants to do everything he can and he wants to be good at everything he does...

They continue with his lack of technological use... he says he doesn't have a cellphone and doesn't use the computers or the internet unless he absolutely has to... his manager refers to him as a 컴맹, or in english, a computer/technology illiterate to make fun of seung gi... the truth is that seung gi says he doesn't want to become addicted or too dependent on computers and cellphones once he gets the hang of it... he says he would love to have a cellphone or a minihompy like other celebrities, and spend all day trying to chat or take pics but he says he's still in a "developmental" period... meaning that he's still in a place where he was to focus and work hard and then when he's at the top, he can enjoy his hard work... he's one of those people that doesn't travel or have too much free time... but those are just his preferences...


I'm so jealous of him... he finds school and his major too easy, and he's switching to another major, which will be like starting all over, cuz in korea when you go to college, you already need to know your major, they are no thing as "undecided." which means he will have to switch to another program and start all over again, but he doesn't mind... He's a perfectionist, hard-worker, workaholic, who likes to study and doesn't use technology... And, he's a strong minded person, and has lot's of self-control...
