More than likely i will be flamed for this reply, however, i just wanted to share my "personal" opinions about shine. Dont get me wrong, i was and still am a great fan of DJ SHINE. I like his flow, style, and his color and like many others were greatly disapointed when he wasnt featured in the 5th- but i knew it was comming.
I knew about DT ever since their first album- but lets get this straight. From what i understand shine and JK are 1.5 koreans. Which means although they are not born in America, they migrated to US at a early childhood and is heavily influenced by american culture (like myself).
Now i am 100% assuming but, DJ SHINE isnt fluent with the korean language. Yes, ive seen his interviews, heard the radios, saw him on TV MANY times speaking good korean- however thats just the bare minimum. On the other perspective, again, i assume that JK did some hardcore korean studying and got down the language more than DJ shine could have. I know this because from many interviews and behind the sence it was said that Tiger JK wrote atleast 98% of all the lyrics from 1st to the 4th album.
So what does that means?
Well, first of all underground k-hiphop scene and even in mainstream, hiphop is growing large and fast in korea atm. Lots of MC's are popping out left and right with outstanding beats and lyrics - SELF PRODUCED. Many times the beats will be taken care of a DJ, but as far as the lyric goes MC's have pride writting lyrics for themselves. For one, most korean hiphop is accepted as the "truth". Personal experience about life, philosophy, love, etc. MC's also gain respect for self composed lyrics. It also gives off their color and style.
Drunken Tiger has gained many respect- one can even say that they placed a heavey influence of hiphop in korea. They are the leaders of the "movement crew". Fans across the nation, undground MC's, and the media looks up to them.
Now with that said, lets put ourselves in shine's perspective/shoes.
Actually, i wont even get to that.
Personally if "I" were shine, i also would have left the hiphop scene too. If all, or even half of the assumptions ive made above were true, then that was the best thing to do.
Im sure, knowing shine's personality he wouldnt be able to... "lie" to himself and gain respect as a DT member when 90% of the lyrics are written by JK. Why? Although shine does his part as rapping- although i wont mind, and im sure few ppls wont, but people who look up to them will give more credit to JK and even perhaps look down on shine. Trust me i heard many ppls in forums/campus talking crap like how come shine wont write his own lyrics?
I know shine as a man of great honor and pride. Again from what i assume Shine probably needed some time.
From there, JK and shine probably had a conflict. Im sure JK didnt mine, but shine did.
Anyways that became hella longer than ive expected. I still believe in shine and i have great expectations for his future performances. Just my 2cents
