Hello, just wondering if anyone here is in a band and would like to share their experience with gigs and performances.

I recently just had a debut gig infront of 70 people, The gig went down fine and i had a blasts doing it(half a cup of scotch helped with the nervous) and im eager to perform again. I have pics and clips but i dont want to share if noone else does.

I play guitar(ibanez blazer + 50w marshal vaulve amp) and my band is called the Pallet Bandits. We called ourselves the Pallet Bandits because we stole 500 dollars worth of pallets to build our stage that we debuted on.
We are a cover band playing things from cold play, Thirsty merc to maroon 5 to the vines, kisschasy and many others.

At the moment my band seems to be slowly fading away. Its even worsts now that our bass player dropped out + majority of the guys have uni or work. I hope my band performs again soon, I love playing music in a band but not as a indavidual.

So, what band are you in? What songs do you play and how many gigs have you done and how were they, + hows your band now.

er, I'm not in a band but my friend is and they just got done recording their first song, it's called "programed to love u". THey're pretty funny guys so the lyrics in this song is pretty funny... yeah.. ok... bye!

good luck with your band!

me and my friend have something i guess I can call a "Band". We do cover song of mostly ones without drums because i can't seem to find anyone who can play the drums and listen to my type of rock (oldies, blues, rock n roll) We've successfully done songs from the anime Beck, some Strokes song, blink 182 songs, not much because we don't meet often.

Me and my friend is currently making a song with 3 guitar parts and im "remixing" fur elise into Rock so we can all play that. I don't know if we're ever gonna officially call ourself a band with a actuall name and all that. So no gigs...just a small performance for my gf, folks at guitar center ( that was like 4 people? lol)

My gear: Epiphone SG G-400 Custom, Marshall MG10CD (im too poor to get anything bigger), dunlop crybaby wah, dunlop hendrix fuzz.

didnt know you were a musician xony. Thought you just liked cars etc. btw hows that car seat you put on wheels going?

The music industry in australia aint that big and its hard to make it big unless if you are really good and talented. Compared to America or other countries, Aussies dont support it much.

Xony, You got any recordings of your stuff?

also PerniciousJuJu do you have any of ur friends stuff?

i've been in bands off and on.

been playing since junior high and started out with an acoustic. i started one in junior high called the 'faceless no ones' but it never went too far. all of us went to different schools.

then i got a strat during freshman year to join together with some guys to form a band. we had a couple of jam sessions but couldn't do anything that made our music have some chemistry. we all had different music tastes even though we were all awesome musicians.

and then afterwards my friend matt (part of the group i jammed w/ freshman year) and i didn't hang out too much but we recently had the habit of trying to start a band. we did some cover songs to practice and never performed until battle of the bands competition. we didn't do so well because we didn't knew much in the crowd. it was all bunch of scene kids really into hxc and whatnot. my friend and i played some alternative rock songs.

he and i are still wanting to form a band, but we just play together because we love music way too much to just let be inside us idly. we just need a drummer and bassist. we had a temp before.

that's it really. i've substituted for plenty of bands and had some side projects but the sound didn't really get to me. all the songs were original but it seemed in retrospect only a handful were good.

being in a band is hard, i learned from freshman year. everyone has different preferences of good music and talent. you can't just sign up people to form a chemistry. i learned that it takes time to create a good band of artists.

i usually play alternative rock, experimental, and etc.

Yes, I agree that being in a band is very hard. Everyone's opinions are always clashing.
Your right but, thats what makes a good band good, like you said, its the chemistry. If everyone aint on the same level, its hard.

I have/had 7 memebers in my band. I play guitar with another guy and we swap from from lead to back depending on the song and what we wanna do etc. 1 bass, Drummer, keyboard and 2 singers. 1 main good singing guy and the 2nd guy is a average singer that mainly did harmonys and had a handful of leading songs.

Now I had alot of beef with the 2nd singer. I felt he was of no contribution to the band and was just in it for chicks and the spotlight. Now what made it even worst was that we were friends since 11. The whole band is basically mates but when it came to this band stuff Everyone talked behind each other backs and so on. Its hard being a musican... easier to be a poser biggrin.gif

Anywho..my plan from here on is to try and continue to play with what I got minus the 2nd singer. Im plannin on trying to get both me and the 2nd guitarists to do bass and swap from song to song.. Im assuming its easy. And yeh, see where it goes from there. If that fails then sadly it will just be a phase for me because I dont have my full heart in it cause i feel its more of a hobbie and not something you can live off.

Cummonnnn anymore people in bands here? I wanna see clips of live gigs =\ . thats the main point of my thread.

Oh btw, I heard a member of Tomoro's heros Visits soompi. Does anyone know his Nickname? or know of how i can get a hold of him?

right now i'm in two projects

one is an electropop/new wave band called the pink elephants and the other is a mellow bluegrass soul rock band...

i've played at various venues in my town... got alot of shows cancelled because they hate highschool kids... but other than that meh

my electropop band is a two man band with me and guitarist and my friend who's the vocal and we just use a drum machine to do bass and drums...

as for my bluegrass i'm looking for a vocalist but... i kids around here are too into emo/posthardcore or death metal...

i'd love to be in a band, but the most i ever do is assist with a few sets when someone needs a female vocalist. but only for small things.

a lot of my friends are though; mostly hardcore, screamo, rock, etc.
but a few of my favorites have broken up or members have ended up leaving the band because of drama, wanting to go in different directions professionally, and so forth.

but a lot of them have ended up touring, making it big, recording, playing lots of shows - whatever.

this is a video i took myself during a Jet Lag Gemini show.
the video quality kind of messes up the sound, but they're much better live/on the EP.

i was in a band two years ago.
i was the vocalist and yeah.

it was a few of me and my friends. we played only in town because we seriously sucked at promoting. but yeah. it was fun. i was about 14 when it was started. we were called no one cares. we were pretty lame and sounded like a bright eyes ripoff. the locals liked us though but we broke up due to members no longer having interest and two members had to move because their parents were being relocated to another town. oh well.

right now i am seriously looking for a band that i can sing in. who knew it would be so hard...

Used to be in one. I used to transition between playing guitar and drums...then egos came in, and that ended that...lol

My friends have been slum lately coming to the meet so ive been practicing by myself lately. Just learning some more Hendrix song and studying music theory. I did play for my friends band last week at local university asian night thing because his guitarist was sick. Thats about it, my recordings are blows so yea....horrible sound coming form a comp mic lol

wow i wish i was in a band . i don't know how to play anything though , and i can't sing x] but a lot of bands i like learnt their instruments for a couple of weeks before recording their albums , so there's always hope i suppose .

Drake , i think you're right about the australian music scene . it's pretty hard to do well here unless you're from australian idol (shudder) , or you move overseas , like the veronicas for example . i think wolfmother is a pretty good example of success based purely on australian audiences , but i think they're going to / have already (not very up to date on them) release overseas if they really want to make a success of themselves . there's not enough people here to allow for less mainstream (ie those singers / bands who aren't anthony callea or lee goddamn harding , boohiss) to really "make it" . sucks too , because we have a lot of talented bands here .

i'm in a band called "kids with lighters" lol, i play the triangle biggrin.gif . www.myspace.com/kidswithlighter happy.gif
YUNA!
well, we never really had any concerts or anything,
if you call playing at small parties a concert or a gig, haha =P

but i was the keyboardist/lyricist ~

we did stuff from crazy sad ballads to japanese rock ~
the electric guitarist was crazy man, he could take any slow song and remix it into a rock version lol~~

u know Utada Hikaru's First Love? i'm sure u have~ HAHAHAHA....we rock-ified it, and let me tell you, it was the most hilarious thing in the world to hear. LOL. what a way to ruin a pretty song. -__-.

yeah then we disbanded 'cause we wanted to focus on school mellow.gif
